I just want to apolagise for the problems that i caused. I was under the
impression that this list was moderated. For those that sent the help i
needed, thank you. For those who felt it necessary to send hate mail, go fuck
yourself. I tried to unsubscribe before and it didn't work, so i tried
another way. Again i am sorry for any problems i caused.

Hey, just wanting to plug the upcoming KX/GC show in Columbia,
MO (The Blue Note) Jan. 28 for anyone interested in going. Got
my tickets ($10 adv.) the other day, so I will be there barring death
(and I'll still do my damndest to make it then :), probably wearing
something DT related or something like that. Look for me.
Also, just heard a new Tourniquet song. It's called "Trivializing the
Momentous, Complicating the Obvious" and it kicks some ass, let
me tell you. Heavy in the vein of "Perfect Night for a Hanging" and
"The Hand Trembler" form their 'Collected Works' album.
Tourniquet also has a new CD entitled "Acoustic Archives," which,
as far as I can tell at this point, is only available by mail order from
the band. Has 9 classic Tourniquet songs redone acoustically,
plus the aforementioned new song. $15 +$3 S&H to:
    Tourniquet
    P.O.Box 3427
    Santa Monica, CA 90408
for more info check out http://members.aol.com/tourniqt

Oh yeah, for anyone interested, Klank also has a new CD out that I
will be ordering soon (i.e. tomorrow) called Numb. Supposed to be
heavier and more varied than Still Suffering. Just a little DTC side
note, Klank has a link to a DT page on his site :).

Got the latest Bela Fleck and the Flecktones CD for my dad for
Christmas. Might have to steal that one for a bit :).

Well once again I was too late in applying to the fan club (not to mention
the confusion of where and who is receiving the money these days). Anyone
know if I join now, if they still have any X-Mas CD's? Or would i just have
    to wait
    until next years?

    Thanks,

    could get lifetime membership!

Ok, kids. Let's try this again.

If you have *any* questions concearning the DTIFC and the
Christmas CD, please email ME and not the jam. I am running the DTIFC in
all the Americas, so emailling the jam isn't going to help you any.
Emailing me *would* help if you want your answer solved.

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN THE DTIFC, PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING URL:

            http://www.erotomania.org/dreamtheater/dtifc

it's there for a reason, folks.

As for the shows this weekend, I'll be at both the Birch Hill and
Philly shows so stop and say hello to me if you happen to see me walking
    by.

At the Cinderella show last weekend, I walked into the club/bar (which is
the only establishment I have ever seen where instead of having taps they had
huge ice coolers filled with CANS of Bud, Miester Chow, etc....very frat-party
of them....) and no sooner had I secured a spot on the floor, the familar
sounds of PMU came over the P.A. sytem. Cool, not a bad addition to the warm-
up mix. But it wasn't a mix. They played almost the entire I&W album
(everything up to the first half of UAGM). Most people (approx. 70%) were
singing the entire album word-for-word and those who didn't know the words
were banging their heads anyway. Just thought I'd share.

Well, I left IRC and #ytsejam at about 4:30 a.m. on Xmas day thinking
I'd set my alarm for 6:00 and take a quick nap, then awaken long
enough to make the statutory, obligatory 6 a.m. on Christmas post.

Awoke at 7:05 with the radio going; I'd slept thru the alarm. *sigh*

Oh, well.... Holiday hiya's to my Ytsefriends out there. I haven't
been posting too much and have been skimming the Jam (but downloading
all of them for "later" reading..... yeah, right). 1998 was a great
year for me musically, as I discovered lots of great new music again
this year thanks to my Ytseconnections. :)

I'm excluding DT from the following since they're kinda always there
    anyway.. :)

Two best CDs of 1998 (among so many):
    1. Ocean Machine, BIOMECH
    2. Liquid Tension Experiment

Two best shows I saw in 1998:
    1. Savatage (even with Al Pitrelli sidelined)
    2. King's X/Gal. Cowboys (the audience deserves as much credit as
        the band :))

A few days ago I'd posted a message about Braindance (and downloaded several following Jams -- I know there were some responses, but haven't had a chance to read them yet...)

I'm pleased to announce that Sebastian Elliott from Braindance has confirmed their attendance and performance at Dragon*Con '99 here in Atlanta, July 1-4. This was all worked out through fellow progfolk, so I'm kinda pleased about it. :)

We'll also have two other bands that score high on the neetness meter, The Changelings (goth/new age/violin leads, yum) and Godhead (goth/industrial, very good and cool guys too)....and of course it wouldn't be Dragon*Con without the statutory show from GWAR. :) We'll have other bands added between now and July as well.

The convention website is at www.dragoncon.org (although Braindance won't appear on the listings until I get home and update the site). It's the world's largest SF/fantasy/comics/gaming convention, drawing 18,000+ annually and consistently.

Braindance's management is looking into a group bus roadtrip (and membership discount) -- for info, email them at braindance@earthlink.net.

I've been extremely pleased by the demo material they sent us, and can't wait to see them live. This will be Braindance's first show south of Baltimore (where they played at Progscape '96, I believe).

Thought I'd share the good news as soon as it came in, --Paul

Hey, everybody, merry christmas, happy holidays, and all that! I got one of the coolest CD's in existence today, and I highly recommend it. It's The Simpsons: Songs in the Key of Springfield. It includes classics such as "We Do (Stonecutters' Theme)," "Who Needs the Qwik-E-Mart?" and "Send in the Clowns." There's about a dozen versions of the main theme. It also features Robert Goulet, Tony Bennet, and Tito Puente! Any hardcore Simpsons fan owes it to themselves to get this CD. It includes quite a bit of dialogue, too; there's some pretty classic stuff here. Well, I'm going to go watch the Simpsons and and eat some pecan pie, so y'all take care, and go get this CD!

Ok folks, here's my views on Echosilence. (No you didn't ask, but I figured I'd give them anyway!) Someone kept posting about how if you love Cynic and are looking for another band like them, then Echosilence is your best bet. Well, I went and downloaded the four sound clips. What I ended up hearing, was not a variation of cynic. It was a direct, blatant ripoff. And I'm sorry, but if you're going to steal someone's ideas, do it BETTER than them. Echosilence successfully grabs everything good about Cynic, and makes it worse. Frankly, I love Cynic. Its amazing stuff, but the death vox really made it hard for me to get into at the first. Hearing the hype about Echosilence being close to Cynic made me so excited because these guys had no vocals! What a let down though..... Oh well :) Im done.

    Scott.

What a load of bollocks, EchoSilence sound nothing remotely like Cynic. EchoSilence are brilliant, unlike the self indulgent dribble of Cynic :)
