I am getting a ride to the Birch Hill show tonight from my girlfriend, but
she is only dropping me off. Since I am blind, i would love to have some
people to hang with so that I don't get lost. <grin> I am specifically
referring to Skadz and D-man, since I know you will be there, and you both
know who I am. If you guys see a 5 foot 8 man with brown hair, wearing a DT
shirt from the Fix for 96 show, carrying a red and white cane, that would
be me. I am also looking for Syrinx, because I have fan club money for him.
If any other people around here know who I am, be on the lookout. I can't
find you.

Yo yo,
Can I just say that this CD kicks ass? For all of us who wanted a
good live performance of James, it's awesome. I love all the covers,
especially the Elton John. I don't like any Elton John except for the
Yellow Brick Road, and here it is, and with awesome vocals! I think the
boys were in sappy moods when the put it together, but I can dig sap to an
extreme. Thanks Mike and crew. Happy holidays. Be well.

heheheh. And don't let Damon wander into any mosh pits. Not for his sake,
either. I've heard he can be bloody deadly with that cane. "Aw, pick on a
blind guy, eh? Whaaaah! *plunk plunk*" And another mosher loses his sight.
"My EYES!!! My EYES!!! Ahhhh!!! I can't see! Oh, the pain!!!! Stop the
pain!!!"
Suddenly a drumstick flies out of nowhere impaling the de-eyed man through
the neck. Damon: "Thanks, Mike!"
Shit. I can't believe I'm missing these shows, again. :P

DISCLAIMER: These are merely my personal observation of a few things. I speak for no one but myself.
Fellow 'jammers,
At tonight's Birch Hill show, I saw two sides of the proverbial coin. First, an amazing show by my favorite band..I was in complete awe the entire time. Secondly, however, I saw an absolutely DISGUSTING display by certain people who call themselves Dream Theater 'fans.' Thank you John, John, James, Mike, and Derek for another great show. It never ceases to amaze me how much you guys do for us devoted fans. You are truely great perfomers and showmen. To Derek and JP: thanks for taking a few minutes to shake my hand, say hello, and take a picture with me. Certainly a moment that will never be forgotten. To Mike: I waited for your arrival to the floor, but the damn bouncers kicked us out before you made it. I could see ya hangin' around having a bite to eat, but I unfortunetly never got the chance to meet my idol. But, there's always next time. Again, thank you guys so much for another incredible musical experience. I know you "fucked up" (as James put it) a few times, I'll never forget what Derek said: "Sure, we can play in 12/8, but we can't play 12-bar blues!" But to us, it was another great performance. You'll never know how much we appreciate all that you do for us. Which happens to bring me to my next point. I appologize to those who this does NOT apply to, but if it does, you KNOW who you are: Never in my life have I seen such an unappreciative audience. The little 'sit-down' action in protest of the length of the video was absolutely sickening. Some of you don't seem to realize how much this band does for you; it's fans. In case you didn't happen to notice, it's the day after Christmas. And I don't know about you, but I would want to be spending that time with my family at home after being on the road for so long. But, these guys come back after a LONG world tour, and a SHORT break, to give you a show. And what do you do in return, you sit down in the middle of the club, making absolute fools of yourselves. And to top it all off, chanting "bullshit" and throwing objects at the screen is just rediculous. Maybe you did that stuff in high school, but it has NO place here. Especially when Mike took the time to edit in clips of DT performances that we never would have gotten to see otherwise. I proudly stood and supported the band that CARES about its fans. Words can not discribe how disgusted I was at those moments. Again, I'm sorry some of you had to read this, as it doesn't apply to you. But all of you that bitched and moaned about how long the video was, and how you could just watch it at home, then I have two words for you: Go home. If you don't like it, then just get the hell out. We don't want you there, anyway. John, John, Derek, James, and Mike...thank you again. There is no other group out there that even compares to your talent, musicianship, and devotion to its fans than you.
All comments/flames welcome. I stand by my words.

I forgot all about joining the freakin' fanclub!!!
Umm... Does anyone know if I could still score a CD if I join up right now? This looks like a truly awesome disc...
Also, to the fellow who was kind enough to do a dupe of the 97 CD, I just realised I never sent you your blanks, and I no longer have your details! If you can get back to me, I'll rectify the situation ASAP! :)
Thanks y'all

This may have been discussed on the Jam before. If it has I must have missed it...
As I live in Norway (I wonder how many times I've written that?) I have the european release of OiaL (off course!). But just before christmas I received a signed copy of the american OiaL (as well as a poster and 5YiaL). The reason I'm writing this is because there are some big differences betveen the two (the american and the european OiaL).
For starters: The opening mechanism is different. (TRYING MY BEST TO EXPLAIN) The european version opens as a poster -you fold it out ( - - - ) -fold CD1 to the right -Kinda' like the inlays of ACOS While the american version opens like a book -you turn the "pages" of the cd cover ( - \ - ) -fold CD1 to the left -Kinda' like the inlays of FII
Then there are the colors of the CD's. The european version has a redish\pink CD1 and a bluish\purple CD2. The american version has a blue\green CD1 and a blue\more green CD2
I know there was a discussion going about the covers of OiaL at the time of the release. Where we discussing the same covers?

I was just wondering if someone could make me some mp3's off the Xmas CD.
It would have cost me about $30 to get the CD myself, and that is more than I can afford. Please help me out.
E-mail me privatly if you feel like giving me a late Xmas present (mp3's).

that's interesting. i see a trend... i have both japanese and american versions of i&w and awake, and on both albums, the japanese versions are printed lighter - the american i&w is sort of flat black with a glossy black majesty symbol, if i recall correctly, while the japanese version is gray with a black majesty logo. same with awake - american is dark black and hard to see the majesty symbol, while the japanese copy is almost silver looking, with a dark gray/black majesty logo. haven't seen a japanese WDADU (ironically, when my grandparents went to japan, i asked them to pick that one up for me (this was before the us rerelease of it) and they came back with an i&w and 2 awakes, but no wdadu :) moo.

OK, I have to send big shout outs and props to Skadz and D-man for picking me up and putting up with me throughout the show. You guys rock. And I have to appologize for getting you lost both ways to and from my house. This is what you get for getting directions from me. Oh, and my girlfriend is dyslexic, so how accurate do you think she can be?
Anyway, it was cold. Quite cold. Bafu was not there, but there were tons of people screaming his name. I have to also give props to the nameless man who gave me a ticket without asking me for money. I don't know who you are, you are probably not on the list, but you are the man. Anyway, we finally get inside, and stake out a corner of the bar that became the ytsejam territory. Oh, can't forget to mention the meeting of Rachael, Quazel, Madsman, and the rest of you crazy fuckers that I forgot the names of.
First, whatever the music was that they were playing had to be LTE 2, at least some rough mixes of it. It was nice the first time around, but then they tease us with 2112 from Rush, only to go back to the same shit. And that D.J. needs his ass kicked for even playing the Tom Sawyer remix from Small Soldiers. What the hell was that? Doesn't this guy understand that most people want to hear the real thing, not a fake song?
Then, they show the Five Years in a Livetime video. Ok, I have this on audio tape, thanks to mental pyro, btw, I have yet to find out what you wanted in return. sorry, guys, I loved the video, but I couldn't SEE it! What good was that for me? And you didn't exactly have it loud enough for us to hear clearly, so the first two hours of the show kind of blew. And I can understand why some people would be pissed about standing around to watch the video they may already own. There was footage not in the regular video, like JP's guitar solo, and some songs from Toronto, like 6:00, New Millennium, and Pull me under and a different version of metropolis, but again, I couldn't hear or see this stuff very well. Mike, if you like, you can send me a personal copy of this footage so I can enjoy it like the rest of the crowd, OK? :)
Anyway, the band finally came on after playing Rooster, acoustic version. That's when D-man and Skadz abandoned me to go up front. Thanks, guys. I understand that draggin my ass up front would've been a pain, but I could've cleared a path for you at least. That's what the cane is for. :)
Anyway, I won't go into the set list, some others will do that. I will say that people are really fucknig rude. All the pushing, even in the back of the bar, all the booing and cat calling just because they weren't playing Pull me under. Get a fucking life, guys. This is idiotic. We got the show of our lives, full of B-sides, covers and songs we have never heard Dt play with Derek, and you boo? If I could see where you were, I would've kicked your ass. And somebody in the audience bent my cane passing by and I can't fold it now. Thanks. You owe me $20.
However, the show kicked ass, and I am sorry that I couldn't have met the guys to personally shake their hands. DT rocks as usual and I would not mind seeing another show like this, but the set needs to be longer. And I saw another first. DT was a little sloppy last night in playing, probably due to the fact that they haven't played in two months. Hell, I didn't care, hearing Rush cover Different Strings, and Since I've been loving you was enough for me, and Oh Holy Night, and Wait for Sleep and all the other songs kicked ass. I didn't think Derek would ever play Eve or WFS, but I was pleasantly surprised and he did a great job on them. I still have to find out how Derek gets his organ sound, but I'll trap him someday on this.
OK, I think I have said enough. I want to thanks everybody I met last night and appologize for missing any names. you all are cool, and especially D-man for hauling my ass around. You rock. Long live the band.
