I agree with Graham, the bootleg The Divine Twilight Of Damnation does
totally rock. One complaint however, there's not enough bass sound or
guitar crunch, but as Graham stated, its about as close to perfect as you'll
get. Anyway, you could pay for the bootleg through Open All Night Records
    (http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Mezzanine/9326/oan.htm) or, you could
trade with me for virtually free! My web page is
http://www.erotomania.org/scott It should be somewhere in there, my page is
    a mess :)

    Take care,

    Scott.

Yes, I trucked my ass up to Philly to see the show there. And it was damn worth it. After my 3 hour drive, I get directed to a parking lot to find out that I paid 2 bucks extra and parked two more blocks away than what I could have. Lesson learned I guess.

Purchased my ticket and went to stand in line in the freezing cold. I saw Syrinx walk past me and eventually away from the venue and didn't see him come back. Wanted to give him my club membership... Oh well...

After hearing some sputterings of a soundcheck and freezing my ass off, they let us in. After spending the night there, I think the Electric Factory is a pretty decent place. It is in an old warehouse with the standard stage on one end. The difference with this place, tho, is the balcony on the right hand side with the bar. I tend to like to see things from above, and it is how I saw the shows at Hammerjacks when they were open. The only problem with my view is that I couldn't see JP most of the time, but I could live.

Of course the video was playing. There were some who were getting ansy, but not quite the reaction that it got at the Birch Hell show from what I've heard. Just kept looking at my watch knowing how long my ride home was....

I ran into Lobsterback in the bathroom and he was easily spotable in the crowd. I also found out that Skadz was standing right in front of me. Cool! Syrinx made an appearance later to explain his disapearance (He needed to go home to make copies of lyrics for Derek.) Again, I wasn't quick enough to get him my membership... Gotta depend on the Post Office now....

After an hour and a half the concert started. Most of the experience was posted by others. When James announced that they were doing covers, the crowd starts yelling song titles. JL says "Well, it's not like I'm trying to say something important", While DS is saying "What do you think we are, a Jukebox?" I got tickled by that.

Behind the instruments, they had a couch which those who weren't performing would sit. When they started playing "Different Strings" someone messed up because James had to stop things. That's when MP got back behind the drums and started playing the intro to "Cygnus X-1", which the crouds went nutz for. Was very cool. There was also the failed attempt at "Hot for Teacher". That would have been fun.

Of course what made it all worth it for me was getting to see the big reunion of Nightmare Cinema! Most cool! I liked the fact that this was the "We will play whatever the hell we feel like playing" show. A unique experience that I will treasure...

What an incredible show. Half of the show was spent interacting with the crowd, which hardly any bands do anymore. They played all the songs that I was hoping for towards the end like The Way It Used To Be and To Live Forever. A rare performance of Hell's Kitchen. One of my new favorite songs, Bad. I love what they did with The Silent Man. And of course, Nightmare Cinema, first time seeing it live for me. Even John Myung was talking and smiling during that. A first time for everything. I came down with a fever earlier that day but hell, it was well worth it. It was unfortunate for me that I got the Christmas CD before the show because it was kind of a spoiler. But this was not one of the shows you saw was great because it's the most recent show you've been to. This'll be one of my favorites years later.

I was at a friends house this weekend, and he had some CD's on his desk. I picked one of them up to see what it was, and what did I see? Track 4: Dream Theater - Another Day!

The CD was called "Even more POWER Ballads" and had This tracklist: 1. ZZ TOP - rough boy 2. HEART - all I wanna do is make love to you 3. UGLY KID JOE - cats in the cradle 4. DREAM THEATER - another day 5. FOREIGNER - I wanna know what love is 6. MR BIG - wild world 7. RICHARD MARX - hazard 8. MOTORHEAD - don't let daddy kiss me 9. THE CULT - edie (ciao baby) 10. RETURN - take this heart 11. DAN RED NETWORK - rainbow child 12. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - soul to squeese 13. GLENN HUGHES - why don't you stay 14. THUNDER - a better man

I was "slighty" suprised when I saw DT on this tracklist. I didn't know they were on any compilation albums (isn't that what they're called?). Are there more compilation albums with DT on?

"Even more POWER Ballads" is the third album in the "POWER Ballads"-series and was released in 1994 (so it's really old news!). The album may have been released in Europe\Scandinavia only. (RETURN on track 10 are Norwegians...)

I just thought I'd share this with you guys/gals (to share it with the girls too..)!

Hello, Regarding the recent reviews of fan conduct, I feel I must speak. I have found conduct by DT fans to be appalling at many of the shows I have been to, and am happy to see that people are finally speaking out to this effect. In fact, the only two shows I thoroughly enjoyed were my first (Agawam, MA 1993) and last (Irving Plaza 1998). In between, I've been to shows where other "fans" have: sung off-key at the top of their lungs in my ear despite requests to desist (which a jammer dubiously admitted to in the last digest); shoved me aside between opening and main acts (of course I promptly delivered the Reggie White hump move to correct the indiscretion); and listened to people piss and moan during the show about setlists and sound quality. All this reminds me of something extraordinary that happened four years ago. Myself and ten friends made a road trip from New Jersey to Amherst, MA to see a Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds solo acoustic show. The night before, another from our group of friends had seen the same show in Albany, NY performed to a crowd as antagonistic as the one jammers have described at recent DT shows. The SUNY-Albnay students shouted for Ants Marching and Satellite and kept rushing the stage at a show where it was understood everyone would chill and remain in their seats. So Dave plays for us in Amherst the next night, and the crowd was honestly one of the best I've ever shared a concert with: everyone chilled, applauded ONLY between songs, and only stood and danced for the encore. The result was that Dave thanked the crowd by playing for three and a half hours (and I have the boot to prove it). He even professed that there was a synergy (sp?) between the artist and the crowd that inspired him. And when Dave DID ask for requests, people called out for rare material like Cry Freedom (this was pre-Crash) that Dave might not else have played. The moral? If you appreciate it, they will play. If you have expectations at a show (or in life in general), discard them in favor of experiencing something unique and timeless, something that only a select few will take part in. Speaking as a Jammer who currently lacks the funds, but not the proximity, to attend a Holiday Show, you people need to appreciate what you're given, not expect what you ask for. After all, it's the season of giving, not taking.

Hey, I got this disc for Xmas and was curious: as a non-Kiss fan, is this a CD I should keep (it remains unopened) or should I take it back to exchange? To let those who might respond know, I enjoyed Hot In The Shade at the time of its release, but have never been too interested in what I've heard of vintage Kiss. I'd appreciate private mail to assist me in decision making. Thanks.

Mike said something to the effect of "I thought we broke up in San Antonio?" and then went on to say how pissed James was gonna be after the show. James kinda laughed.

random things from the show: Mike was damn funny lookin in that hat :) "Have you found the sound you wanted?" -James to Myung before Nightmare Cinema. Myung smiled. "I sang that to my daughter. She said, 'Daddy, I don't like it!'" -James after O Holy Night. "That's the first time i've seen Derek embarrassed!" -Mike to the crowd when Derek wouldn't sing Hot For Teacher. Mike's comment about "we need to learn Hell's Kitchen first." i liked the screw-ups; proves they are, indeed, human. i especially liked the loose feel of the show; made for an enjoyable evening. where was tempus?! and pete and jaime?! what's the deal w/ John's S-body classical? me next equipment purchase: fretless 6-string bass (stick is after that, gerb ;)

For us Southwestern metalheads though (YEEEEEHAW! *cracked whip*), we have a good consolation prize; NEW YEARS EVIL! I know Mosh has his ticket, I think Kizer and Nate Bradley have theirs, I doubt Mike Bahr has his but who knows heheheh (as always, this is a pretty big venue to push bootleg cd sales :P ) And Marc aka "Wrath" is finally in town from CT so he's ready to get stomping in the ballpark.

I'm just wonderin' how many jammers going to this thing wouldn't mind a quick pre-show gathering at Hooters or some nearby resturant (Hell, the Arizona Center's just across the street :D ). I just have to remember to save some money for a t-shirt heheheheh....

    Hi all

here's my last album review for this year (promise) and it's another good one.

    KARI RUESLATTEN - Mesmerized

I've had this album for 3 weeks or so now, and hardly a day has gone by without me playing it at least once, so I think I've got a fairly solid opinion of it. For those who don't know who Kari is, she used to be the singer for the Norwegian band The 3rd And The Mortal, where she impressed me with her crystal-clear vocals. To the album: Mesmerized consists of 11 tracks which showcase Kari's wonderful voice - all other instruments are reduced to backing roles, so don't expect any fancy guitar work here because it would be completely out of place. Do you believe in angels? Ever wondered what they sound like? Listen to Kari on this album and you will know. All of the songs are quite short, but each is perfect and complete in itself. Nothing heavy, no dark influences, very light and very cheerful. Try and imagine Loreena McKennitt without all the instruments. It's impossible to be down when this album is playing. The only track that bears any resemblance to Kari's old stuff is "Cinderella", otherwise a lot of the songs would make great radio material. Forget the whiney little bitches like Tory Anus and Alanis Morrisette and songs about pre-menstrual tension and eating disorders. Do your ears and mood a favour - buy this album and discover what a good female singer/songwriter can really do. Another clear 10/10.

Only two more days to get your top 5 albums of 98 to me. I think the overall winners are clear now, but there are some interesting entries lower down, some of which I will certainly be looking into next year - perhaps you should check some of them too.

Finally, I'm looking for information on two albums. I've heard that Ulver have changed direction once again on their new album "Themes ]From William Blake's The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell". Does anybody have this yet (Mape)? Any chance of a review/opinion? I'm also looking for information about the Norwegian band Pale Forest and their debut album "Transformation Hymns". They are meant to sound like old Third And The Mortal and old Theatre Of Tragedy (which makes it a must for me). Again, any reviews/opinions or confirmation of this description gratefully received.

And as a special present, go to the following URL and try and figure out how the trick works:

stay safe and happy listening Neil Gallop (nga@software-ag.de) Currently playing: Cemetery Of Scream - Deepression
