someone said about Toad's Place:

>an area of the club for the under-21's. The end
>result was that if you weren't old enough to

>sucks, even though I was not personally affected.
Huh. From what I remember when I was there, the part they netted off was
where the bar is. To get alcohol, I remember I had to go to the back of
the room and behind that net, and I thought, "fuck this, I can't see
shit" so I went back to my spot in the regular section. If what you say
is true, that would be pretty unfair - are you sure it wasn't the other
way around?

It's pretty obvious. When it shows the remaining 5 cards, NONE of them were of the original 6, they are the same numbers and colors, but the suits are different. That way no matter what card you picked, it will seem like it is the one missing.

Well once again I was too late in applying to the fan club (not to mention the confusion of where and who is receiving the money these days). Anyone know if I join now, if they still have any X-Mas CD's? Or would i just have to wait until next years?
Thanks,

Hey all.. Well, I've finally recovered from last night... between the 2.5 hour drive and the exhaustion of my back and feet... I'm finally back to my old self... Anywho... I must say that last night was one of the coolest shows that I have been to. I really like Toads place.. not for how they were pricks towards the under 21 kids... but because it is probably one of the best mixes that I have ever heard live before. Mike, Derek, John and John were their usual best.. but the man of the hour/night was definately JAMES! What a fucking voice last night!!! I have seen him live 3 other times... Once when I think he was either a little rusty or under the weather, 1 time when he was kind of drowned out, and another time when he was good, but not as great as last night!!!! I'm not going to talk about the actual music in the show because there are still a couple of more shows left in the "mini" tour. IF YOU HAVE THIS SHOW ON TAPE PLEASE E MAIL ME. I WILL TRY TO TRADE SOMETHING FOR IT. I bet that the tape came out awesome!! I will say that DT prooved tonight that they are human. Mike was off on LSOAD, (tempo) and Derek was off on Another Day (tempo). But other than that it was great!! Anyway.. definately glad that I went! Talk with ya later, J

This may sound like a really snooty request. I have absolutely nothing of worth to trade for a boot of this recording. But I was wondering if there might be anybody with a little holiday spirit who had a boot of this show that might be willing to donate one to me, as it was the first opportunity I had to see a DT show and had to miss it. If anybody takes pity, please notify me by private mail.
Oh yeah, and if it's a recording of one of the other DT holiday shows, it would be almost as good. Seasons greetings.

Hello ppl: Um... I've been for the very first time wading through CDNow and I've seen that the prices for CD's there must be like paradise to Americans! I just checked the prices for both RUSH's Different Stages and DT's OiaL, and they're currently U$17.50ea. after a 30% discount (35U$ in total). Shipping to Australia is so damn expensive, it mounts up to 48U$ (still a bit cheaper than local shops, but just a bit). This annoys me and I think us, Aussie Jammers, should try to get together next time we're going to order from them, just to minimize the costs of shipping and handling. And now was (or is) kind of a good time to do that since those titles are currently on discount. Not all titles are. So, maybe we should get together and order 5YiaL, or OiaL, or Fates Warning's Still Life or Platypus or whatever... This country needs about 50 million more people, and fast. Well, that was just a thought. Due to the size of the country, we're so far away from each other, that I doubt we'll get to meet in the near future.
I forgot who asked about where to find the new Eloy 'Oceans 2-The Answer' in the US. They've got it at CDNow for 25 U$. I still owe you a review of this album.
I was wondering if anyone could point me to a FW FAQ, or somewhere where I could read the reasons why former Fates members have left the band. I'd appreciate it. Cheers: Bernardo NP: FW-APSoG

I was wondering if any Canadian Jammers were able to take advantage of 800's nifty opening offer? I tried for almost three weeks to place my order, but kept encountering script errors, pulldown menus with no options ad nauseum. 800's "tech support" said it was all on account of the thousands of people queueing up. I think it was a Canadian conspiracy.

OK, one more comment on 1 of those 2 new MP3s:
Right after the keys/guitar duel on Metropolis, comes a Derek solo jamming part, which is BEFORE the Migranes song! Isn't that Derek solo part again Cupid's Dead?
Also, although I'm sure someone will complain about, WHO PLAYS WHAT in Migranes? :)
Derek is Nicky - vocals and the one ripping his trout out shouting at the audience during the song, but others ... ?
After the Nicky Lemons song outro, they play that short Metropolis part! BUT, is that Migranes or DT? :) There is NO break between it! By this audio I can't distinguish / recognize change to their own instruments! :)
Anyone can make this clear! Deoa this mean let's say that Petrucci can play both the drums anf guitar on Metropolis??? :) No way ! --

Yeah, best thing is that the Burger King down at Stureplan, which is the = centre of night life in Stockholm, here in Sweden has one and plays it = from time to time. When you're dead tired and just want a fast nice = Whopper Jr before going home, is there a better thing than to have it = accomp. by DT? Stockholm jammers should go ask for it!
One more: In a recent issue of What HiFi? (a specialist HiFI magazine) = there's an article on online CD shopping among other subjects. One = illustration of this phenomenon is a screen shot of CDNow, with Once In = A LiveTime majorly featured! Aaah, makes one remember the days when PMU = was on MTV's "Real World" and "Sports"

Hello,
Here's some questions I am wondering if any of you jammers out there could enlighten on;
1. I just picked up Echolyn's "As The World" and really dig it. Is their second effort "When The Sweet Turns Sour" worth picking up as well? Also, I believe that the majority of the members of the now defunct Echolyn are in Finneus Gauge. Can anyone reccomend any FG albums to check out?
2. I have Enchant's ABPOTW - I've heard that Wounded sucks though, is the Time Lost EP worth buying? I've heard 'New Moon' and really like it. Also 'Surrounded' (cheers Mosh) is very cool, is 'Break' worth picking up?
3. How the hell do you pronounce 'Vitalij Kuprij' ?
4. Spock's Beard drummer Nick D'Virgillio used to drum for Tears For Fears and Giraffe, right?
5. This is probably more at place on the SB mailing list, but can anyone offer me insights as to what the songs 'The Light IV: FU/I'm sorry' and 'Time Has Come' are about. Maybe I should check out the SB FAQ - Lisa? :)
Now some comments on the new Rhapsody album "Symphony Of Enchanted Lands";
After an awesome debut effort I had high expectations for this disc, and was not let down one bit. It seems as if Rhap has moved into a slightly more progressive direction with this one, with more advanced arrangements and a swag more beautifully orchestrated classical interludes which flow seamlessly with their epic speed metal approach. Alex Staropoli proves himself as one of the best keyboardists around, not only because of his blistering solos, but because of the fact that he composes all the orchestral sections. Much more variety of instrumentation here too, with Russian choirs, full string sections and baroque female vocals. Fabio Lione seems to be controlling the shrillness of his voice a little more too, making the vocals on this one more palatable than the last. Overall, the discs is awesome, anyone who likes Angra, Symphony X or Blind Guardian should check out Rhapsody.
There is one downside I found to this album - the narrated parts. Ugggghh, they're terrible. Sir Jay Lansford (who sounds remarkably like the voice of the Elven characters in WarCraft II) is probably the worst choice for a narrator of a fantasy style story. For starters he has a shocking lisp which make me cringe as he struggles through the passages, and secondly the tone of his voice is weak, where's James Earl Jones when you need him (or Jeremy Irons or Sean Connery for that matter)? Blind Guardian's "Nightfall In Middle Earth" has better narration than this, and with the parade of guest musos on SOEL (and therefore probably a larger budget) I though they could have afforded to get a decent narrator.
Bah,
Luke.
