Does anyone know where I can find some soundclips from IQ's latest album "Subterranea"? I've been searching all over but haven't found anything yet.
Thanks!

Yes! Mystic Fishook is a great band! I talk to the bass player sometimes, he's also Joe Stump's bass player. They're just about all the talent you can fit into an average age of 23 years a peice. I really suggest everybody pick this CD up. I haven't seen it for more than $9.99. They have it at Tower in Boston, in the local section. By the way, they have a new website up, with mp3's of their tunes!
Check them out! Art

<<< My first post...please be gentle. This post is WAY overdue. At the Fates Warning show in Weymouth MA, on Dec.11th, I met a fellow 'Jammer who gave me a CD of his band "Mystic Fishook". He asked me to post something if I liked it. Well, I like it very much! (sorry I took so long, Matt :) "Electric Skies" is an 8 track, 31 minute EP from a very talented band. I'd call them progressive rock/light metal (If there is such a tag). Great use of keys, and time changes. There are even 2 instrumentals on the disc. Overall, a great pro-quality sounding disc. I even saw it at my local Newbury Comics. BTW, Fates were awesome! Matt, e-mail me if you read this. Sorry for the lack of DTC!

Well, I had to find out from another page that the name of their new album is : Twilight in Olimpus Its also the debut of the new drummer, Tom Walling (anyone hear of him??), this much I told ya already.
Tracks: Smoke & Mirrors Church of the Machine Sonata In the Dragon's Den Through the Looking Glass (I,II,III) <I think I'm gonna like this song> The Relic Orion-The Hunter Lady of the Snow
]From what I understand, the first tunes are very much intertwined &possibly could be considered as one massive tune. When I mentioned "The Accolade" to Russ as being one of MY fav tunes, he said that I'll also prolly enjoy "Smoke & Mirrors" from this one. I dunno, I STILL haven't heard any of it.
www.zero-mvp.com/cd/sym4.html has this info & an AAIF (or something) file for S&M (oooh, we may hafta think of another way to shorten that).

Well Matt..... Those songs are ALL available on good 'ol MIKE BAHR cd's.
Precious Things cd: Track #3. Raise The Knife (3:54) Track #5. Lost Without You (5:50)
The Darkest of Winters cd: Track #5. Caught In Alice's Nine-Inch Tool Garden (6:22) Track #10. Dream And Day (1:17)
and the following is a GREAT cd from Mike...
Mosaic cd: Track #6. Burning My soul/Hell's Kitchen (8:38) Track #7. Peruvian Skies (6:28) Track #8. Lines In The Sand (14:47) Track #9. Take Away My Pain (7:13) Track #10. Just Let Me Breathe (5:37) Track #11. Trial of Tears (13:03)
For me personally, I dig Mike Bahr's cd Mosaic because (I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong) these were recorded before Falling Into Infinity came out and they sound a little different. I know some arrangements are different and it's nice to hear how they play these songs live for a while and then go into the studio and rework them into better sounding songs for the CD.
So if any of you have been holding out on getting any of Mike's cd's, you should really re-consider!!

Attention all dudes and dudettes.
LIQIUID TENSION EXPERIMENT features only 4 people: Our John Petrucci, Our Mike Portnoy, Mr. Tony Levin, and Senior Rudess, Jordan, that is.
There is no vocals on the disc, except for various "whistles and blurbs"
The music, if you trust my judgement, WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BY LAW. SO, keep this under wraps. It is THE sickest thing around.

Does anyone else here feel that on TAMP, Petrucci has "achieved Gilmour"?
Maybe it's the tone, or the emotion it brings on. Maybe it's just me.

Hi, there.
I'd appreciate your help if you could send me some comments about the following progressive bands: Camel and Renaissance.
I've heard the first 9 tracks from Camel's "The Snow Goose" and I'm wondering if the rest of the disc (don't know how many tracks the disc has) is similar to what I've heard. I really like it and find that in the department of melodic, soft music, it's some of the best things that I have ever heard. Thumbs up! Are their other albums similar to this one? No? Any comments are welcome.
Now here comes the interesting part: yesterday I met a girl who was a "cyber-friend" of mine for, say, 3 or 4 years (quite beautiful girl, incredible eyes) and when I visited her, she was working and had the jewel case of a CD by a band called Renaissance. I had never heard of that band and asked her which style of music they played and she tried to describe me that it was a mix between ambient music with some Kate Bush with... But she wasn't really familiar with styles of music (that CD was borrowed from a friend of hers).
Well, I found it very intriguing and one of the first things I noticed was the length of the songs. I immediately thought: "wow, is this progressive?" Then, she gave the CD a spin and whoa! I said: "Hey, incredible! This is progressive! Don't you know that?" She responded that she didn't think of that as progressive and I told her that if she liked progressive music, then I could make her a compilation of some of my preferred music (of course, I have a wide taste that can shock some people, but some of the heavier end wouldn't end in a compilation of my preferred music because I don't like it that much).
The CD which she had borrowed was something called "Ashes Are Burning" or something like that and it was kinda mellow (unfortunately, I didn't listen to the CD with the usual "amount" of attention that I would do for the obvious reasons of me talking way too much :-) ). But hey, I think that I like the CD and I'm looking for some recommendations on that band.
No doubt I'll send her some Dream Theater. :-) BTW, needless to say, finding a girl that likes progressive music hard and very surprising. :-)
Well, that's it. If you know the bands above, please do send your comments. They're more than welcome.
Thank you very much, Roger...
P.S.: I didn't put that comma after the word "with" on the subject line, but Pine insists that it should be there. Well... These damn computers... :-) -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Rogerio Brito - rbrito@ime.usp.br - http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito Undergraduate Computer Science Student - "Windows? Yes, there is a tab book for ALS. And if I'm not mistaken, Steve also put out a video for the album. Just him, a bassist and drummer. I've never seen the video though.
Of course, Steve's sight it down now for reconstruction. Maybe another Jammer out there knows where you can order the book, or give a review of the video.

In case of Japanese HY CD, one Japanese DT website posted two articles about it in news page as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------- 1) February, 9 1998 Tonight, DT interview which was recorded during DT Japanese tour broadcasted in the music program "BREAK DOWN" by MTV JAPAN. In this interview, Mike Portnoy told detils about Japanese maxi-single CD "Hollow Years"coming out on the 25th of Feburary. This single CD will be recorded 4 live version tracks which they played in '96 (Perhaps on "Fix for '96 tour") besides the title track as follows:
* The Killing Hand * Caught in A Web (Caught in Alice's 9-inch Tool Garden) * Birning My Soul * Take Away My Pain
2) After tons of rumors, after all, HY maxi-single CD will include the following tracks: * Hollow Years (radio edit) * Hollow Years (LP version) * You Or Me ("You Not Me" demo version) * The Way It Used To be * Burning My Soul (live) * Another Hand / The Killing Hand (live)
(Track 5 and 6 were recorded live in Old Bridge, NJ, USA / Dec. 14 1996) ----------------------------------------------------------- I still don't know which information is really true. But I hope the latter tracklist plus "Caught in Alice's 9-inch Tool Garden" will be right:-)) > >And finally some information about the festival in Bourges, France: >It will take place on april 17th in Bourges which is situated 150 km sout= >h >of Paris.
