i noticed that as well. did you catch the 2 demo tracks on the end ?
which cd did you get ? I preordered Visions USA from cdnow.com, and yeah, my
1st two tracks were reversesd and i also had a track 11 and 12, 11 being a
black diamond demo with totally different lyrics :) I think track 12 was a
live tune, i can't remember off the top of my head...

Man, these guys have some balls taking on the name of a signed band. I don't think that a company would try to call themselves "VanHalen" or "Megadeth". One would think that they would have at least done a web search based on the name.

Well, they are in a comic book soundtrack... ^_^ Terry Moore's "Strangers In Paradise" quoted a section of Pull Me Under, and lists it as one of the "non-original" pieces (Terry also writes his own music, and often presents sheet-music versions in the comic) found in the comic. Just thought I'd bring it up...
Here's a suggestion for anime fans who wanna get old school: "Metropolis, Pt 1" to "Bubble Gum Crisis" -- music video style... I have been itching to try this, and eventually I will, but if you wanna try, go for it. ^_^

Man, the guys in the band Dream Theater have some balls taking on the name of a movie theater located in Monterey, California. I don't think that a band would try to call themselves "Tower Cinema" or "Dolby Digital Multiplex". One would think Mike Portnoy's dad realized there was a cinema by that name already before suggesting that those Majesty boys use the name. Sue! Sue! Sue!

.and I couldn't agree with D-Man more. It absolutely shouldn't matter what name the bass has on the headstock so long as it feels right to you. Go to a store or three and play a bunch of different ones through an amp setup as close to yours as possible, and then decide which one you prefer the most in terms of sound, feel, playability, etc. And if it says "Hondo" then so be it. Personally, my tastes tend to run into the extreme (I like Tobias and Modulous, myself, but those basses are BUCKS), but if your tastes run a lot more economical (like mine - I like Tobias, but that doesn't mean I can afford one), then you really can't go wrong with a Yamaha. I have a Fender and an Ibanez, and the Yamaha I played the other day just beat them both hands down in terms of sound and feel. Their RB 5-string fretted is somewhere like $549, and it kicked ass. :)
[Note: I miss my Hondo]
D-Man - you may be interested in the BP article I mentioned two jams ago, as there's a blurb on his new bass that's coming out with Yamaha. What a beautiful instrument.

Hi all,
I got the Hollow Years single today and here's my $0.02:
HY Radio Edit: What the hell?! If they cut any more of this song, it wouldn't have existed! A full 1:43 seconds was cut and IMO it causes it to lose a little bit of the magic.
You Or Me: Very cool. The intro works a lot better with the whole "Wish You Were Here" vibe. No Def Lepified chorus and James doen't go "Oooh! Ah! Eeeaah!" during the bridge. Not a hint of cheese on the whole tune. Very Techno during some parts and the sound is nice and fat. The interlude is longer than you expect it to be, too. Bottom line: Desmond Child should stick to Bon Jovi and Aerosmith in the future.
The Way It Used To Be: Starts off very cool with a big U2 vibe. (I love U2 so I'm not complaining.) The whole song is a gem through the second verse, but then it starts to kind of lose something. I'm not sure what it is. Derek has a short, melodic solo that sounds really nice. Then JP does his which is killer. I know! It's that I don't like the chorus. (I'm listening to it right now.) It just seems like the "Bring me to the light" part should resolve to a major third instead of a minor third. I don't know--it just doesn't sit well with me. It's not bad, but it's just a little weak in comparison to the rest of the song. Other than that, it's a pretty sweet tune.
If you see this disc at your local import bin, pick it up. It's definately worth the money.

hehe, you think that's weird? Go listen to Zappa's "The Yellow Shark" or "The Adventures of Gregary Peccary" off of Lather.

I also saw this somewhere a few days ago, in a list of multi-band/"festival" tours. Maybe on a newsgroup, I don't remember.

Air has been transcribed in Guitar for the Practicing Musician. Several other tunes have been transcribed by people on the net... I've done a big chunk of 11 Blue Egyptians myself... surf around. There has not been a tab book for this album though.

Again, nothing. Surf around and you'll find a bunch of ameteur tabs online.

I think everything he's done has now been tabbed, and should be available on Cherry Lane or Warner Bros or whatever. I know Tones and Ah Via Musicom are all transcribed. I have to tell you, though, I have never seen an accurate Eric Johnson transcription (except for Song for George).

> And just when I thought that Gentle Giant were the pinnacle of >weird music, I listen to some contemporary "Classical" music composers.
The stuff you listed isnt really classical, cuz it wasnt written in that period or in that style. I like to call music written for symphony orchestras (or any type of wind or string ensemble) "orchestral" music. Cuz if youre talking about Shostakovich or Tchaikovsky, they sure werent writing in the classical time period, thats for sure : )
> If you want fucking weird shit, go listen to: > * Igor Stravinsky's "Le Sacre du Printemps"
The Rite of Spring? Weird Shit? No way man. Ill admit its pretty far out there, but its also genius, beyond that of any rock band music anywhere, including DT. DT is pretty incredible, but you cant compare it to a guy who makes you SEE pagan rituals and sacrifices through a symphony orchestra.
By calling those works weird, youll probably scare people away from what they might really enjoy. Thats my only beef about your post. Everyone owes it to themselves to go and listen to Richard Strauss for an hour...Dmitri Shostakovich, Mahler, Tchaikovsky. Actually, youll need more than an hour for some of their works : ) Otherwise, yeah, those works youve listed are pretty odd, but they are AWESOME, and spend a lot of time in my CD player.
And another thing is for sure; they sure kick the shit out of Mozart...hahaha May have been a boy wonder, but he did write some pretty BORING music : )
Back to hell.

I have a nice video copy of the 11/22/97 New York Dream Theater show. My copy is 1st generation. The audio and video are quite good for an audience boot. The camera was mounted on a tripod so there aren't any jerky movements and there are some nice closeups. Anybody interested in trading please e-mail me.
