You oughtta get Introduction, too. I like that one much better. :) Who
would have thought Marty and Nick doing new age albums 10 years ago? heheh.
I wasn't too thrilled with True Obsessions though. Ah, well. I guess I was
looking for him to continue on with the new age stuff and there were like
only two songs like that on that album.

I'll agee that this isn't the best boot available of the I&W tour, but one
person's opinion is to quote Roger:
"It is good, but not worth more than $50 (it
lacks treble and, IMO, this is the 2nd worst problem a recording can
have)."
and there is the opposite from NugGeTMaN
"
I agree with Roger...I used to own this 2 disc set, and it pretty much
sucks. Especially James...he was REALLY off that night...only get it if
you're a serious die hard DT collector...and don't pay more than $50"
I'm not trying to rip anyone off here, I just offered it up. The people who
will want DT bootlegs especially older boots at that, have read all the
reviews and there are sources to be found to if you haven't. If you want the
replica, please go to Mike Bahr and purchase one from him for $40 (Bahr pretty
much has the skinny on this disc on his website: It was given a 4 out of 5
rating on his replica list) or buy one from KAI for $20. I'm not really
interested in wasting a lot of bandwidth on this, but if you are interested in
this CD, I am asking for bids starting at $50 until March 2.

The tune is called "Heaven Tonight", and the singer is Joe Lynn Turner
formerly of Rainbow and Deep Purple. I thought he did fine on Oddyssey, but
live he strains quite a bit. He started having voice problems in the early
90's, but you could hear his voice getting grittier on Oddyssey. BTW, he
released a covers album called "Under Cover" in Japan last year, and it's
pretty cool!

has anyone heard his new album yet? i saw it in the store the other day, and
although i can afford it, i really wouldnt want to waste 12 bucks on a lame
cd. even though i did buy a lame cd for 17 bucks by a band called AC (anal
cunt) just cause it had 52 songs on it, and the track list on the back was
funny, with songs entitled but not limited to...
- Your cousin is George Lynch
- Jack Kevorkian is cool
- You keep a Diary
- You look adopted
- 311 sucks
- You're old (fuck you)
- windchimes are gay
- the internet is gay
- haha, your wife left you
- You went to see Dishwalla and everclear (your gay)
and ofcourse the song...
- You (fill in the blanks)
yes this is an actual CD, but i must warn you, do not buy it, unless you have
17 bucks to waste on a laugh.
now what was i saying about Yngwie?
oh yea, just tell me if the new CD is good, or if its just the same old guitar
solos from day 1.

Who the fuck are the chemical bros. anyway?
What song of EJ was nominated? Pavilion or SRV?
I guess this was the main reason why Satch decided to put his new album

Jennifer Batten is/was Michael Jackson's guitar player. I don't know much
else about her, but that might give you an idea what her album might me
like. heheh. That's almost like saying James LaBrie does a great grizzly
bear imitation even though I've never seen a real bear. Oh, well. He does
though. Especialy when he glued all that hair he just cut off to his car.
You oughtta see it. He cut all his hair off and glued it to his car and
then drove around saying "I am a grizzly." and growled at people. And when
people asked him what he was doing he would say that he was a grizzly and
growl a them.
I hope that answered your question.

.and so on....
I'll waste some worthless bandwidth on this. I've had this boot for a while
now. For those being wishy-washy about whether or not they might want this,
I'd like to add that it's a soundboard recording and it sounds f00king
GREAT as far as bootlegs go. It's NOT lacking in treble enough to complain
(it's a fucking bootleg for Moses' sake, unless of course you listen with
mashed potato in your ears) and James does a decent job considering he
pretty much sucked for the majority of the I&W tour (based on the collect
of I&W boots I have). The person one might bitch about would be KevMo who
apparently doesn't give a fuck about what he's playing and screws shit up
here and there. But I'm not bitching about it. I don't like to bitch. :)
Other fun things include the guys from the Galactic Cowboys singing the
chorus at the end of "Take The Time", everybody's favorite "To Live
Foo-evahh" ;) (with the extended jam at the end) and to top it off, the
boot manufacturer, Kiss The Stone (aka KTS) was shut down in a big
boot-bust just under a year ago. If you have half a brain you'll realize
this means that it's out of print. OUT OF PRINT. Sure, it can still be
sourced for about $45 or $50 if you know where to look. <g> But since it is
pretty darned hard to find I'd expect die-hard collectors and people
wanting a good-sounding boot alike to be bidding like there's no tomorrow
on this puppy.
Let the madness begin. Speaking of Madness, hey Mads, you ever heard of
Mannes Guitars, from Italy ?

Okay, this is the guy who has spent a lot of time and money trying to get
whatever Japanese Tab Book I possibly could find! Thanks to the web, I have
found a permanent, however expesive, connection to these Japanese Tab Books.
I am currently setting up a purchase of many tab books from Friedman to
MacAlpine to Dream Theater (ACOS full band score) to Stratovarious!!!!
Perhaps, if you are interested, I can work with you to get your own copy from
the company. Be forewarned. Shipping costs (Air mail from Japan) is VERY,
VERY expensive. It is wise to order one big order so the shipping doesn't
outweigh the cost of the product (which is actually reasonably priced).
I asked for a subscription to Young Guitar, but the costs would kill me. Let
me make it simple for you. It will cost me $265.74 for a one year
subscription. That would breakdown to $22.145 per issue. Most of this cost
is for shipping (as in one issue air mailed each month). I love this
magazine, but that is just too rich for my blood.
I would like to attempt something here. I have an idea. The shipping costs
are what is killing me. Perhaps I can get together with a bunch of YTSE
Jammers in America so I can get 20+ issues shipping to my address. I would
then take the issues and ship via priority mail to each address. This should
cut the shipping costs down HEAVILY. That way they can ship 20 magazines
bundled together each month! I used to be a Buyer for a large retail company,
so this is where the idea came from. It is like I am the warehouse, and the
interested parties are the retail stores, so to speak.
So what I would need is 20+ responses that show interest in this. If I get
this then I will present the idea to the company. I would then get back to
YTSE Jammers with their costs. Their cost would be the total cost / the
number of people in the pool + $36 ($3 for priority mail to you x 12 issues
per year). This is definitely worth doing if you are a fan of GREAT Guitar
Magazines.
Let me give you an example of what is in just one issue of Young Guitar.
November 1997 issue:
Paul Gilbert discussing his album - King of Clubs (and pictures)
Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Motley Spue Concert Review (and pictures)
John Petrucci - Falling Into Infinity Guitar Excerpts (and pictures)
Savatage - Wake of Magellan Guitar Excerpts (and pictures)
Examples from Steve Vai and Frank Gambale
Eric Johnson Live report (and pictures)
Michael Romeo of Symphony X Monthly column with tab and picture
Greg Howe Guitar Excerpts from Vitalij Kuprij's High Definition!!! (and
pictures)
Complete Band Transcriptions of :
Dream Theater's Hollow Years
Ten's Bright on the Blade
Vitalij Kuprij's High Definition (the song)
These are just the highlights. There are many other bands in here, but these
are the ones that I thought would be relative to the jam. There are also many
great ads for new albums (good way to find cool new bands), equipment, and
much much more.
This is one single issue which is very thick. Imagine a whole year of this!
I know I sure can.
So contact me at calvin6s@aol.com with interest in this. If you close enough
to me (Orange County California, USA), you can probably just pick up your
issue and save $36 for the shipping.
Thanks, and just trying to help the Ytse Jammers get their hands on some very
good product. Death to crappy American Guitar Magazines!!!!

hi there,

>whats the neck like? [..]
Well all of the following (imho) the neck is a little thick, a very
heavy D-shape.. I do have long fingers so that's not the problem, but
you'll be forced to play very accurate with the fingertips hitting the
strings at nearly a 90 degrees angle. The neck of the RG is definitly
more flat thus easier to play.
The sound of the JPM100 is just incredible - I know some of the guys
might disagree, but I really like the tone I get from the DiMarzio's.
HINT: Be sure to test _any_ guitar before buying - check out how it
feels: the neck, the bodyshape, the tone, don't go too much for the
looks, you might be disappointed...
BTW I was talking about guitars here but the same applies for girls ;)

Okay, with all the guitar talk around here, I have a question. A couple
years ago, when I started playing guitar, I went to a music shop with a
friend of mine who's played for a while. He had told me a lot of stuff
previously about guitars, and I had played his a little, so I wasn't a
total ignoramus, but close enough.
I tried a bunch of them and ended up buying an Ibanez, EX Series. Now, the
other day I was playing my friend's old cheap Lotus, and actually liked the
feel a little better.
My question is: does anyone have any opinions about this model of Ibanez?
Are they decent as far as sound goes? I've never played it through a decent
amp, so I don't even really know what the sound is like. Any remarks are
appreciated.
BTW, yes, I realize I look like a total amatuer here. As you've guessed,
guitar isn't my big thing, and I usually play acoustic, not electric.

Hahaha.....that's right!! UZ music has some heavy violin and drums.
Well , I have some sound clip of Univers Zero on my music page.
http://www.sirius.com/~cluesump/text/music.html
Univers Zero and Present are dark prog/fusion bands from Blegium. These 2
bands share some members.
If you want to try some of them;
for Univers Zero - start with "Heresie" (the darkest prog album I have ever
heard), "Ceux Du Dehors" and "1313".
For Present, try "Present Live". Present is going to do some tour in the
U.S. in May.
Univers Zero's music sounds like noone else. Present's music is more
accessible (easier to get into). You may have to order the cd's from
Cuneiform Records or try to find them in special record stores.
There are some bands that have the similar style as UZ or Present. They are
U Totem, 5 UU's and Art Zoyd (rather classic).
>> I heard the first 3 songs from King Crimson's "Red" album and

>Yeah, they're pretty heavy, but I enjoy them...
Red is the heaviest album by KC I think. This depends on what era you like.
KC started with dinosaur prog style (In the Court - In the wake of
Poseidon), prog jazz (Island), heavy prog (Larks' tongue - Red), prog
jazz/Experimental (Three of a perfect pair - Discipline) and the double
trio era/improvisation and experimental (Thrak - THRaKaTTaK).
Has anyone heard anything by Ground Zero?
Have a good listen,
