    Hey Jammers

Several of you (as well as 3 of my own personalities) have shown
significant interest in a YtseCon. So here we go... we're getting it
off the ground. Expect the con to occur this summer, during the
tour. Tentatively, we are leaning towards Southern California as a
location for the festivities, for several reasons. It's not final,
but since there hasn't been much discussion either here or in the
small group we've organized to develop the event, to give solid
reasons for a different location, So. Cal. looks promising.
What I need, is to hear from people who are interested in helping to
organize this, and to hear from people who are interested in
attending, tentatively. I don't want to hear complaints about
anything at the time being. If you want to influence what will occur
at the Con, and where it will occur, put in the effort to help
organize it. We're hoping for more events, and features to this Con
    than in the previous ones.
            Mail to:

                    Ytsecon@prognosis.com

If you are interested in helping with the development, or mail me
    at:

                    countme@prognosis.com

If you think you'll probably attend the Con. This thing will be
better if we have a lot of opinions expressed as to what you want to
see, and what you want to do if you're showing up, but besides
discussing it here, we have to discuss this stuff with the group
setting this thing up, to figure out what is reasonably possible,
within whatever budget we set up.
We want to hear from you all, so let's hear what you guys want.
Open this up for discussion here and via private mail at the
    addresses above.
            What we have so far:

            - We want a band to play there, besides just a jammer-jam.
            - We want to set up before and after events
            - We aim to set this up for just before or just after a DT concert
                    in whichever area we choose.
            - We want to make this as inexpensive and as fun as possible
            - Boot trades? We're talking about bringing computers and CDRs to
do free dubs of boot cds (you pay for the CDR media), and bring
extra VCRs so we can dub videos as well.
            - Giveaways

So start firing away, and lets make this thing kick some ass!

I must say i liked Yngwie's first album, before he ran out of guitar solos and
just started repeating them on the next albums. i saw him live on the seventh
sign tour, he does put on a good show, he drank his share of wine, and brought
out his anorexic wife on stage to say hi to everyone, they did a good job at
covering up the bruises with makeup and sunglasses =]

i also must add that i think his best singer was the guy he had on Fire and
Ice, that mofo could sing. my drummers favorite is the dude from Odessy, or
whatever cd has the song paradise on it. i cant stand that guy though, he
strains too much on the high notes. ok well theres my 3 cents

Anyone out there lucky enough to own one of the JPM's? Have a couple
questions about them to any one who owns one or has played one. First off,
whats the neck like? I know they are based of the RG series which had the
Wizzard necks on them and they were incredible. Are these necks much
different? Anyone know how much a JPM100P4 costs? And lastly, seeing how
JP uses the Universe from time to time any rumors about a JPM 7 string?

geez... it's so hard to go wrong....

you should get (as should everyone) the "live art" album. it's a double
cd, but it captures something that none of their studio efforts have:
the incredible energy they pack into a show.

after that, i'm a big fan of the bela fleck solo cd, "tales from the
acoustic planet." it's got a lot of flecktone stuff, but it also
features him working with loads of other incredibly talented musicians
(edgar meter, chick corea, etc.) i should add, the "live art" discs
also feature lots of guest musicians.

"flight of the cosmic hippo" directly precedes, and features the same
lineup as, "ufo tofu," with howard levy on keys/harmonica. "three flew
over the cuckoo's nest" follwed "ufo tofu," and though its only got
bela, vic, and futureman, this album has tons of energy and fun.
probably a little more "in-your-face" bluegrass than the two preceding
albums, if there is such a thing, because of the departure of howard.

defintiely, everyone go get "live art." you'll thank yourself for
    having it. or something.

Someone in the last jam asked if the FAQ had a new location. It *will*
have a new location once it's updated, although most of the mirror sites
will stay the same. D-Man left me a lot of stuff to update, and I have
gotten a lot of good suggestions from other people.

At the very least, I will do a minor update on the contact info for the
FAQ and get it up so people know where to send inquiries. Next week is my
spring break, so hopefully I will have an update completed then. I'll
post here with any new info.

    Hi there jammanoids!!!

No, I was not dead (yet), as some (1 or 2) of you might be thinking. :)

I don't know if there was any response to this one, but, WTF?. :)

    > ------------------------------
    > From: Calvin6S@aol.com
    > Subject: Jason Becker

blah, blah, blah about Jason Becker's "Perspective"...

First of all, Perspective has absolutely NO realationship (soundwise)
to Perpetual Burn (IMHO). They are two completely different concepts:
while PB is more "shred fest" (it's really cool :) ), Perspective is a
more "new agey" album (argh, that sounds horrible). It's a real piece of
    art IM-not-so-HO.

Now, about getting the CD, I don't know why you're so damn desperate
about it. I bought it over the Internet, and I think most e-stores have
that CD in their catalogs. At least wjere I bought
(www.cdconnection.com) they had it in stock.

Now, making a U-turn on the subject... :)

Last week I came back from a half-round-the-world trip :), and I bought
    some really cool stuff...
As I bought a lot, and most of them are really old albuns, I'll just
point the ones that most "touched" me. :)
Anyone who's into beatiful guitar playing SHOULD get Marty Friedman's
"Scenes" NOW!!! It's a very cool album.
Every new Savatage album I buy I get more impressed on them... man,
they're very cool. I brought some older stuff (I had all their newer
stuff, including "The Wake of Magellan", and, btw, is that a masterpiece
or what?), and they really rock.

            Ah, enough writing. :)

About this, if the CD is REALLY out of print, I think I was lucky, because I just bought it like 2 weeks ago at Tower Records (in Tokyo). It's a Japanese CD, released by Victor, so maybe they're still printing this album. I never saw that album seeling here in Brazil (where we get the - I suppose - european Noise Records releases), but can easily find all the others.

My favorite album is really "Episode", and I still don't have Twilight Time and Fourth Dimension. Although Timo Tolkki's vocal are far worse that Kotipelto's, :) , the music is still great (although I think FN needs some spins to get into). Great band indeed.

I went down to the local Zia records today, and I found some rare KILLER CDs!! Check this out:

Cacaphony (Marty Friedman/Jason Becker) "Speed Metal Symphony" Marty Friedman "Scenes" Jason Becker "Perpetual Burn",

..and I almost bought the new Yngwie album (which I've heard is really good), until I saw "Sirens" by Savatage sitting on the shelf for $10. I had to get it! It's actually really good, Savatage sounds good doing thrash :)

All of these CDs are incredible, and if you like shred, fast soloing, melodic soloing, duet guitars, and all out speed, get Cacaphony. Get it now!! The early Savatage stuff is much better than I originally thought it would be. Kinda like "Power of the Night" or a really raw "Gutter Ballet" sped up very fast :). If you like slower, melodic guitar stuff, get the Marty and Jason solo CDs, but if you're a guitarist, you owe it to yourself to get all of these CDs :)

    It's been a good metal day :)

Peace and love, and good happiness stuff, ~Vince

Sorry if this is old news, but they've just informed me that the new release "Twilight on Olympus" is now available. Check the new releases page and break out the credit cards!

Hey all, I heard Yngwie gained some mass (not weight, mind you. weight is an object's mass multiplies by the constant of gravitational acceleration)ArrrghhhhHH!!! College Physics intruding on the Ytsejam!!!! Back! Back, I say!!:) Anyways, on Facing The Animal he looks thinner. I also read somewhere that he was trying to lose weight. Besides, he's always wearing that leaopard skin get up. And, Ive really never seen an obese leopard. So, common sense says it would behoove him to shed some kilograms. Other than that, though, Yngwie rules. Of all the great bands and musicians prevalent in the 80's , hes one of the few who hasnt shed his style for the sake of some populist, mainstream ideal. And thats good. One more thing...what happened to Amberdawn?? She isnt even mentioned on the new disc. There's a tune dedicated to an 'April' , though. Maybe after all the trouble he had with his mother-in-law he had to let her go....
