Sorry if this is annoying for the ack! moders, but some people might be

Having been an employee of the Evil Empire of Guitar Center, I have
to butt in and say, there has never been a $600-$800 model EX series.
The vast majority of the RG series have always been available for
below that price, with case. The EX series is the inexpensive line,
one step below. That doesn't mean they sound worse... that's in your
    hands.
I have always found them to be inferior in playability as compared
to the RG series... the necks seem so small and narrow. I have large
hands, and many of the EX border on toys for me, though I have seen
and played a few decent ones. Interestingly enough, the Vinnie Moore
Model that was out so long ago (before I was a GC worker) seemed to
be nothing more than a glorified EX series, so what do I know?

instruments, or the location and manner in which they were made. The
difference is the big red EX, compared to the little white EX.
I am an Ibanez player, and I'm not knocking your guitar at all.
Well... I take that back. I'm knocking all Ibanez guitars (including
my two). They play nice and sound decent, but it would have taken so
little effort to make an instrument so much better. I want one of
the 7 string archtops if they ever come out, to see if their luthiers
can cut it where it really counts.

Someone was kind enough to forward me YJ#3561, which never appeared in my
mailbox but which also contained the "Prism Records Under ATTACK!!" post.
Since Mike decided it was important enough to post personal threats on this
list, I guess my own threatening opinions are worthy too. Everyone, feel free
    to threaten.

Ever wonder what makes a sloppy blackmailer? No, not writing the ransom note
in fingerprints... Nooo, not challenging the United Nations, that's only for
the sharpest cookies... No no no, a sloppy blackmailer is one who forgets that
the victim isn't supposed to know where the blackmailer lives. AHA! And have
you seen any extortion-loving miscreants doing this? HAVE YOU? In this respect
I have concluded after much research that Mike Bahr is dealing with a man of
    stealth.

Stealth, ladies a gentlemen. We're talking a man who blends into his
surroundings, then pokes you in the ribs and giggles like a five-year-old
girl. I hate those kinds of men. If Mr. X really does live in that location
Mike mentioned, then he deserves every punch, elbow, knee, chop, windmill
barrage, and mule kick Mike can muster. Maybe The Bahr Estate could fly in
some East Coast muscle like Mike Ostrich, you know, to flatten the
extortionist bum like a fucking pancake, boyyyy. Go ahead, Mike, round up a
posse, don't forget to scoop up the breadcrumbs on your way back.

"I've got your son tied up in my attic. Send $5,000,000 to 4255 East Pinewood
Drive in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the small blue house on the corner with the
white curtains and doghouse out front...OR I'LL KILL HIM. Sincerely, The
    Sneaky Blackmailer."

As for Mike's reply, it's good to know no one can lift a finger to pick Mike's
nose without his permission. Then I read Clark's reply to Mike. I thought it
was hilarious. "I own the police" hahaha. Then I read Ptacek's reply. If that
knight who refused to be beaten in "The Holy Grail" had a name, I suggest we
nickname Ptacek with it. Otherwise we could always call that nameless knight
    "The Ptacek Warrior" or something...

"Dude, don't give up! So their team has four more guys than us, so what!!
Paintballs only hurt if you let them!!"

"Straight up! Let's Ptacek these suckaz!"

"Boy, you're really on the professor's bad side. Guess you'd better be nice
and quiet the rest of the semester, huh?"

"Fuck that. I'm going hardcore, this semester it's nothing but Ptacek."

"Rocky! He's killing you! Throw in the towel!"

    "No way Pauly!"

"Rock, you don't need to pull a Ptacek every damn time!"

"Don't worry Pauly, I'm gonna roshambo him in the seventh round!"

Then again, since I'm so behind in my reading, the issue could very well be
closed by now. If so, I do not apologize, but threaten. Damn you all for
finishing. I hate everyone, and more than that I hate everyone's hatred. And
don't gimme none a that "I was all Ptaceked out, man," there's always a way to
    Ptacek an issue further.

Can someone please forward Jam digest 3577 to me? Something happens on AOL
every now and then, where I get a WINMAIL.DAT instead of a digest.
Anyone pick up Ty Tabor's "Moonflower Lane" yet? I like it, but I think
I like "Naomi's Solar Pumpkin" better. Real drums add a tremendous
improvement though. I also got a postcard from Metal Blade on Monday for it.
I found a FII promo poster while looking for Ty's album. It's about the
size of a concert ad: too big to be a flat, too small to be a real poster,
    but I can't complain.

The DT/DP tour doesn't come 'til late in the summer and early fall. To my

anything past roundabout...April or May. That's several months there of

Getting tired of the bitching and complaining going on here:

1 - Young Guitar complaints I have heard so far:
          a) It's in Japanese. Duh. Music and tab doesn't have a langauge. I
would rather have a bunch of cool music and interviews I can't read (although
there are a lot of highlight words translated to English), than have a bunch
of crappy interviews I can read and no tab that I am interested in. And can I
read Japanese? No, but if I am interested in an article, I just scan in it
and have the computer translate! It isn't perfect, but good enough.
          b) How can I do it for $36 a year? I didn't say that. I even spelled
out that would be the cost to ship out 12 issues at $3 a magazine via Priority
Mail. Simple Math. I guess a hard concept for others to comprehend!
          c) "I don't think Calvin is trying to scam" - how do I respond. I am
just trying to set up something that would help a lot of people. Wouldn't
exactly be a picnic for me to organize either?

This brings me to the following point. I am withdrawing the offer of what I
considered almost a "Community Service". Please no more requests for this.
It isn't worth the pain of justifying what I am doing. It's funny that I can
come in and offer to set up things up beyond simple trades and be condemned
for it. SO JUST FORGET IT!!! Sorry to disappoint all those who have already
responded, but I don't need to go through this crap. I guess sharing
connections became a bad thing somehow!!!

2 - About the guy offering up the bootleg of what I believe was "Lords of
Sound". It is amazing that you put a price on it "$50 starting bid", and
those not interested just can't keep quiet. It is a simple concept. He had a
rare disc that he wouldn't part with for less than $50. I don't understand
why some Ytse Jammers feel the need to condemn other people. Giving your
opinion of the album is okay, but then to say it isn't worth more than $50 is
ridiculous. I feel sorry for this guy. He didn't deserve to be slaughtered
for putting up an item he thought others might be interested in.

3 - Why is it so easy to rag on Yngwie? It is probably the easiest thing to
do these days. He was always ragged on when I went to MI and I hated it. You
guys say DT sold out because they have a different sound, and say Yngwie is
stale because he has stuck with his sound. Seems like a no win situation to
me. I tell you what, the next time you want to rag on Yngwie, include a jpeg
picture of yourself along with your best recording. Judging by the fact that
all the XXXL and XXL Ytse Jam shirts are sold out, most of the people putting
him down wouldn't hold up to the same scrutiny. About the only criticism I
could handle was the guy who said he has been playing the same solo since
album one. I don't agree, but atleast he is commenting on the music not the
man. Oh and the references to him beating up his wife and her having to wear
heavy make up to cover it up, I don't know if this is fact or not. I met
Yngwie before a gig, and he invited me in to watch his soundcheck, and then
even let me play his guitar. Doesn't mean he may not have a dark side, but I
didn't see it. I have a feeling his arrogance is more myth than fact.

    4) Kevin vs. Derek vs. Jordan - I like this discussion (I should, I somewhat
started it). This is much more constructive. So far the best comments I have
heard is that just because Jordan is a keyboard stud doesn't mean he would be
the best fit when it came to write music. The guy who said this is a fucking
genius. Most intelligent thing I have heard yet. I also didn't know Jordan
sight right some of the music and pulled it off though. Interesting fact to
pick up out of this. Well, I would like to hear this debate keep go when LTE
hits the streets. Jordan with Mike and Petrucci. I have always considered
Mike, Petrucci and the keyboardist the key to the DT sound anyway. I am a
guitarist, but damn what Mike adds to the song is incredible. Before I got my
Japanese tab I was transcribing the albums complete and I learned so much
about writing "Progressive Songs" by transcribing Mike's drums. I think his
drums are a big part of the formula that qualifies DT as "Progressive". So
back to Jordan. LTE is going to give a test of where DT might have gone if he
came on board. No more speculation. If I were Derek, I would be a little
"scared" about the possible opinions. Not to say I don't like Derek. From
what I have heard I like him.

    5) My Ibanez EX guitar sucks comment. I would like to withdraw that comment.
I have only experienced three EX guitars and they all sucked, IMO. I have
also experienced RG's that suck, but I think the wizard neck is the ultimate
shred neck!!! So I probably made a bold statement based on a limited
sampling. As far as the driftwood series (obviously supposed to be humorous),
it is my understanding that it isn't basswood, but American Maple. Maple is
usually a good quality guitar wood, but this is a low grade Maple. That would
explain the weight also. Maple is a pretty heavy guitar wood.

    6) And to all you holier than thou jammers that just seem to sit back and
bitch, bitch, bitch about other people. Fuck off. Why don't you try adding
something to the jam instead of just putting everything down? What are you a
Freshman in High School? Putting down others before they put you down. What
is the point? Just a sign of your own insecurity. Pretty safe over the net
    too, huh!

Yeah exactly, if someone wants to pay the asking price that is there
    choice.
I paid more for my copy and I am glad that I have it.

    ROTFLMAO, whoah....... :)))))))))))

Fuck yeah, what I have heard so far of LTE is incredible, I heard some
    more tonight
and it floored me. Those who were a little disappointed with FII are
    gonna go
apeshit over this, Tony Levin's bass work is also great.

    >>One last thing. This goes out to everyone. Yngwie is an excellent
    >>musician. He is very intelligent, and he started a genre of music.
    >
    >That's debatable. He adapted an existing style to a new instrument,
    >perhaps....
    >

Well, it is...a genre of music which really haden't been exactly sold a
mass numbers for at least 100 years added to heavy metal and meshed
    together...with some really great songwriting.

    >>And it pisses me off to hear so many people putting the guy down.
    >
    >Then don't take it so personally. Yngwie can be an acquired taste.
    Don't
    >get so pissed off that everyone hasn't acquired it.
    >
    >

I'm not saying you have to love him, but unless you're a little screwy
it's not that hard to recognize talent. Dwight Yokum is an awesome
guitarist. I don't like country music or his style, but I recognize him
as a great guitarest and I respect him for that.

    >>I doubt ANYONE on Ytsejam can
    >>write and/or play at Yngwie's level (I will most likely get flamed for

    >>this)
    >
    >You will *definitely* get flamed for that. :)
    >

I seriously doubt they can. I've been playing for a number of years and
I've met many guitarists, young and old, and I've seen some close (none
of them rock guitarists) but never all the way up there.

    >Why is it that *anyone* who likes a band is allowed to say so, but only

    >those of equal caliber to a musician are allowed to express *their*
    >opinion? I don't have to be a musician to know what kind of music
    sounds
    >pleasing to my ears, any more than I have to be a chef to know what
    kind of
    >food I like to eat.
    >

Actually, I was able to open my mind up a lot more after I began playing
and learning theory. In a way, it does matter and that makes you come
off as an arrogant son of a bitch.

    >>Putting down a musician
    >>should be saved for unoriginal, untalented shit musicians like the
    guys
    >>from Bush, Green Day, and most importantly Kingdom Come!
    >
    >So basically, your whole post sums down to "People should be allowed to

    >bitch about music *I* like, they should only bitch about music that
    *I*=
    >hate".
    >

No not at all. You're obviosuly just a dumb jerk who likes to draw
conclusions. I simply said that anyone with half a brain should be able
to recognize a good musician from a poor one, and those musicians should
be respected even if not liked.

    >Personally, I really haven't listened to enough of Yngwie's music to
    pass
    >judgement on it, I just hate it when people start complaining about all
    the
    >complaining. Most of the reviews of "Facing The Animal" that I've seen
    on
    >the list have been fairly positive, so I'm not really sure what you're
    >getting so upset about anyway.
    >

Lotsa people bash the guy. They say he's arrogant, and an asshole, and
a wife beater. And look up some Yngwie interviews, reviews, and
anything else about the guy and that's what you'll find about him!

    >What pisses me off is that you come across as one of the elitist
    prog-heads
    >that I really hate - the people who think that if the music isn't
    >technically complex, it isn't worth listening to. To me, those people
    are
    >just as bad as the people who won't broaden their horizons out from
    Top-40
    >pap.
    >

Again, you make yourself sound like a total idiot again. I like a lot
of music that isn't COMPLEX such as Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden,
Ozzy, Boston, and Aerosmith. But...unlike you I'm not sheltered and I
know what I'm talking about from experience, and I know when someone is
totally unoriginal and untalented, and hence it is BORING! Do you to
see movies that are repetetive and have the same plot over and over
again? (If so, it explains a lot!) No! It's the same with music.
