Hi, DT dudes!
On Tuesday, 24th of February, I was lucky enough to see Dream
Theatre live here in Paris, France. The venue with 3,000 people capacity
was sold out.
Yes, by the way, 4 hours before the concert guys signed fans
stuff : cd's, tab books, guitars, etc. I made some cool pictures.
Well, anyway, back to the concert. As for the opening act, a
great german progressive band Vanden Plas did a 45 minutes show which
included songs only from the last album "The God Thing". The guys did a
great job.
As for DT show, it's hard to express what I felt after more than
2 hours of great music. The sound, lights, the crowd, everything was
great. I didn't make the set-list yet, but I'll do it in couple of days
(if anyone is interested, please feel free to e-mail me).
The highlight of the evening was "Perfect Strangers" when the
guys changed instruments. Everyone did a great job, there were only
couple of fuck-ups by Derek who played guitar. They finished with a part
from Metallica's "One"; remember the heavy part ? : "Darkness
imprissoning me, all that I see, absolute horror,..." Mike sang it.
Dream Theatre will be back in France to do a festival called
"Printemps de Bourges" with Angra, Vanden Plas and Royal Hunt on the
bill.
Angra and Vanden Plas are extremely popular in France since they
are signed to a French label called CNR music. CNR does a lot of
promotion for their bands which include Manowar, Symphony X, Rhapsody,
Eldritch and Superior along with two mentioned above.
As for Symphony X the new album "Twilight in Olympus" will
officially be released in France on the 3rd of April. A video will be
given for a purchase of the album. For now, CNR distributed a promo cd
with the new song called "Orion the Hunter". Also, on the 17th of March
there will be a 2 hour special on the local radio station with the
premiere of the new album, interviews and surprises.

Hmm, mine's made out of basswood. Pretty damn heavy and sounds great. My
first electric was an Ibanez EX370 that I bought from a guitar shop in
1992. I love the guitar. It's body is a cross between the Ibanez RG
series and the Joe Satriani models. Real slick and very heavy. With my
EX, I replaced the neck (after I accidentally broke the damn thing a few
years back) with a Jackson neck, and I've put a Seymour Duncan trembucker
pickup in it, and I'm planning on putting an DiMarzio Air Norton (Petrucci
uses these) in the neck position.
This guitar is almost the ultimate guitar for me, and it sounds and feels
awesome. It's my main studio and live guitar, and I have two others to
choose from. The only drawback that it has is that it's not a
neck-through. Other than that, I'm totally satisfied with it.

There you go :) Mine's the $600-$800 model with the double-locking Floyd.
I was never a huge fan of the neck on the EX, but now that I've got the
slicker, faster, flatter Jackson neck, the guitar's playability is a 9 out
of 10 in my book. Did you have one of the models with the EX written in
silver or in red? The models with the big EX symbol written in red really
sucked a fat donkey ass, but the earlier ones (like what I have) are really
smooth.
On a related topic, anyone gotten their hands on one of them Ibanez
7-string acoustic/electrics yet? I NEED one of those :)

Ok, first of all...'ts funny that you mention Anal Cunt because I used
to be friends with their original bass player. Note: THEY SUCK!
Second of all, I've owned Yngwie new CD, _Facing the Animal_ for about 3
weeks now. I was able to get a promo copy AND I spoke to him on the
phone (this was an awesome experience) A friend of mine and I booked an
interview with him 2 weeks ago and I got to ask him a few questions. He
was a VERY NICE guy. He wasn't at all arrogant like everyone says he
is. He's very smart and he knows what he's talking about.
The CD itself is great. The songs are very 80's, but at the same time,
they are very well written and it appears to me that Yngwie cared more
about great songs on this CD rather than his playing. My favorite track
is "Like and Angel" It's dedicated to his new fiancee, April, who
ironically is also pregnant with Yng's kid! It has a lot of piano and
sounds very majestic. His guitar solos? Well I only own 5 Yngwie
CD's...but they sound very original. I'm sure any guitarist who plays
for that long and who has written that much material will sometimes
repeat a lick here and there, but I heard almost no repeats in his
soloing. I definitely recommend this CD to anyone.
One last thing. This goes out to everyone. Yngwie is an excellent
musician. He is very intelligent, and he started a genre of music.
Like it or not, he will always be here to stay. And it pisses me off to
hear so many people putting the guy down. I doubt ANYONE on Ytsejam can
write and/or play at Yngwie's level (I will most likely get flamed for
this) If you don't like Yngwie's style, just don't listen to him. You
should respect him and don't put him down. Putting down a musician
should be saved for unoriginal, untalented shit musicians like the guys
from Bush, Green Day, and most importantly Kingdom Come! (In case any
of you can't remember that far back, they were literally Led Zeppelin
clones.) Enough Said!

I attended two DT shows back in October and November, and met the band. 4 out of five of them now have Ytsejam shirts (Myung was sick when I met them, I didn't get to talk to -- I mean *at* -- him. :)
I am no longer at Mizzou, I have transfered to UMSL. This means a new web site, new email address, and new mailing address and phone number.
The XXXL, XXL, L, and M shirts are sold out.
I did manage to make the money to make the final payment in time for the shirts. From this point on, the shirts will be going towards paying back my loan for the downpayment. Thanks again to everyone who has ordered, and all of you who plan to.

The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Hailey in Washington. The graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space visible behind.
The back of the shirt is in a solid light blue color. The majority of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty logos.
The current lot of shirts is 217 (they printed up more than I asked for, but I'm not complaining). If those run out, and demand is high enough, I may run another with a slightly different design.

The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged $23 for a shirt!). If you are picking the shirt up from me directly the $16 price stands. If you can't get the shirt in person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping.
I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the balance.

The shirts are open to mail ordering now. Mail orders will be shipped out every Wednesday via Priority Mail for US orders, and airmail for all others. All US orders are insured for the amount paid for the shirts and shipping, and insurance on airmail depends on the country and other aspects.

I know...that's what I was saying. But the fact that Jordan could learn all of DT's *old* material (and play it well) does not automatically guarantee that he would have been the better guy to write *new* material with them. So we'll never really know. All we can know from that was that Jordan reads DT music better than Derek did at first. :)
