Boy Chris, you're a real dingus, aren't you? You just make assumptions and blow them all over the Jam. There HAS BEEN a price cut. ALREADY. The new DT double disc is $34 down from $40, and all future CDs will be in the new price structure. And the remaining titles will be adjusted in the months to come (with reimbursements of the price difference to anyone whose order is still in fulfillment). I always cut prices when it's economically feasible to do so, because not only does it boost sales, but people simply like their stuff more if they paid less for it, simple human nature. I would appreciate you checking out the FACTS next time before posting what amounts to a huge public insult to me on the Jam.

In fact, I can say to some accuracy at this point that it was BECAUSE of the price cut on DT:WTTW that I got the tremendous response for it that caused the amazing Saturday tally to begin with. It proves a seemingly illogical but infallible law of supply and demand: people will demand more at a lower price.

Unlike most businesspeople, I have thin skin and no life, and therefore Prism Records *IS* my life and anything about Prism is most definitely *personal*. I think the people who buy my creations would expect nothing less than that level of commitment.

I think it's great that you've put your work up on the web. I've always thought it'd be interesting to hear different Jammers showin' their chops on various DT, or other, songs. It's been a thread on and off through the years to do a fan album with Jammers playing DT songs. Tho' this may never be possible, I urge anyone who's recorded a DT (or related) song to put it up on the web for everyone to listen. If you need web space let me know... Take care all...

Hey jammers, merry x'mas and all that. i just got back from a looong vacation and found some nice threads on the jam (surpeise! surprise!) I just wanted to mention something that I wanted your feedback on. As a couple of you know, I do lead vox for a prog band. I've found that some pot ( especially just before going on stage) really helps me hit high notes with a lot of ease, and i smoke some (even if i don't really feel like it) for doing 'special' songs ( e.g.covering UaGM). Is there anyone out there who can confirm this? And more interestingly, we know James has an amazing high octave voice and (correct me if I'm wrong) his smoking is limited to pot! Just sharing ..... - @66@$

Hey--- I'm one of those who didn't get #'s 3425 & 3428- There was a bunch of jargon bullshit, followed by the blinking cursor. If there was anything worthwhile on those two, please e-mail me. If Kevin Moore is coming back to DT, does that mean that the search is on to find Charlie Dominici? :-) --- *NOT!* Why make up such a rumor if there is NO PROOF to back it up with? Furthermore, DS is really cool, so cut him some slack. Also, does anybody have a copy of Howard Stern reading Jackie Martling's resignation letter?

and kevin returning for the money.....doubt that, won't believe it even if it actually happens......it's not always about the benjamins.....

about the subject band, F&J, why do i remember that name?? i saw their cuatro album in the dollar bin and grabbed it, not quite remembering why i remember their name.....it's decently listenable, metal better than warrant not quite up to metallica (old), although, they do try......

so, if anyone can remind me why I'd know that name, I'd be much obliged.....

    Yo jammers,

I was very surprised by the reaction on my "I saw James smoke one" mail.

I totally agree that it is his, and my, choice, and if you smoke one once in a while, you are not a "pot head". I think in the Netherlands we are more "liberal" than in other country's. PLease lets end this discussion. last to say on this subject; the coffeshop was called; The Bulldog!

By the way, as much as I love DT, the album which influenced me most was JUDAS PRIEST - Unleashed in the East. For me this was a major blow back in the 70's. Anyone shares this xpierence??

I've had "The Kindness of Strangers" for a week now. It doesn't jump out at you like "The Light" does. But I reserve judgement until 100 listens...

As for "The Light", I think it's great. It's almost like they are paying tribute to their favorite bands. A lot of the song segments are styled after a given band, like "Running the Race" is a Steely Dan style song. I haven't identified all of the influences, but there's also an obvious Jethro Tull segment.

    Anybody else catch these influences/references?

Hey guys, I've been reading about how you all can't stand not hearing DT on the radio. I go to college in the Albany (NY) area, and there is a small station north of there broudcasting on 107.1. Since I have found this gem of a station, that seems to play every level of rock known to man at some point or another, I have heard DT songs such as:You not Me, Hollow Years, Peruvian Skies, Pull me Under, Silent Man, Lifting Shadows, Lie, Another Day, Surrounded, and Take the Time. There might be some others that I have missed, but thats all I have heard. The only problem is that I can't get the damn thing in clearly. If I drive E, W, or S, it disappears. North, it stays but still not clear. I have heard it as far north as Tupper Lake, NY. If anyone has any clue where this is coming from, fill me in.

Here is where I disagree. It was one of the songs that introduced ME to progressive rock. My first-ever sound in this musically awesome field. And I definitely got hooked by it. This is also speaking as a girl, since you seemed to imply that girls liked "nicer" songs. And I LOVE the "sick instrumental" sections. They kick some serious ass. But I definitely agree that LtL and WFS should go on any persuasion tape.

Maybe she's just really unattractive. Take that little ho in Total Recall, for instance (that's right, the one with the three-tittied friend). Not many customers are likely to pick her up, but that doesn't make her a sellout. It just means that most dudes don't like little hoes.

I think this is true of many bands. I found an interview with Ray Alder on the 'net the other day where in response to question asking particularly which songs would be played at an (at the time) upcoming tour, he specifically stated that they would play the new stuff, b/c the old stuff got "boring" and they had played it so many many times. He said playing a lot of the old stuff was uncomfortable b/c it was like looking at a picture of yourself 10 years ago (and esp for FW, since they had a different singer).

Those just looked like cigarettes. He put his dope in emptied out cigarettes, so no one would know.

DDTTs: DT is considered progressive by most on here, right? What if you found out they all smoked pot today. Would you be upset if, by the time next album came out, they hadn't progressed to the harder narcotic substances? Would you feel like they had sold out just to keep their relatively "straight" fan base? Is it possible that they're all on acid, and when they play, they hear everything they play in 4/4?

Hmmmm, that's about it for now, time to go re-up :):)
