Good. Because I'm going to. Anyone not interested, there's this little key
right above all the arrows? It says 'Page Down'? Good, you found it. Now,
if you'll just jab that a couple of times....
A) Chris vs. Mike (DISCLAIMER: I mean no offense to either Chris or Mike,
both of whom I have had dealings with in the past - and all those dealings
were pleasant. This is just my take on the Great War.)
The only thing running through my mind: Chris, why do you care? If you
don't like it, turn a blind eye to it. No offense, man, but it's way easy
for you to just page down and not read any of Mike's stuff. I'm sure that
there are a lot of people who do (no offense to Mike there).
I'm not trying to slam either one of you. But I've only been on the list
for about a year and this is the third time that I've seen this thread come
up - and all three times Chris and Mike have been in the center. Someone
should charge admission. Hey - maybe someone will bite an ear off or
something. *Then* it would be an interesting development. Until then, why
do you guys bother?
B) Kevin Moore returning to DT
First - the dude on IRC was lying. Plain and simple.
Second - this'd be the worst thing to happen to DT. Derek is the best thing
to happen to them, IMHO, and to see Kevin return to the band would be like
DT taking two steps forward and one step back. Not that I'm slamming Kevin
- I think he's a great player, and he's most likely a wonderful guy, but he
left the band for a reason, and now the band has grown with Derek (and
DAMN, do they sound good now!). They've reached a new plateau with him -
Kevin coming back into the band would only make them tumble back down.
C) I love you all. No, really, man, I love you guys. :)
D) Just had my first exposure to Superior myself - not too bad. I love the
guitarist's tones, but I kinda get the feeling that they write prog for the
sake of being prog, not necessarily because it's what they feel. This
probably isn't the case, but it's just an impression I get. I'll be giving
it another chance, though - who knows? Hopefully it'll grow on me more than
APSoG did (or did not, as the case may be).
Just my ramblings. Flame away in private, of course. :)

OK, i promised myself i woulnd't get involved, but what the fuck. OK, i'm
just gonna make one small point - Mike only releases things that either DT
ISN'T going to release, and thus make money from, or that DT has ALREADY
released (like the FII songs on the latest CD), and is thus already making
their money off of. And don't try and tell me that Mike Bahr with his $20
much-harder-to-find lower quality (audio-wise - they're mostly live, after
all) CDs is any kind of competition for DT's $16 much-easier-to-find studio
recordings. So Mike is only making his money with what the band essentially
throws out - and as an added plus, we, the DT fans, get to hear these songs
as well. And that's all i have to say about that. Moo.

I was the one who mentioned the Crimson Glory connection. It's the guitar that sounds similar to me. The actual guitar sound is similar, and some of the progressions are reminiscent of Crimson Glory. IMHO

I've stated my opinions on the issue, and some of you understand why I've brought this thing up again, and some of you don't, and a few of you are laughable walking/typing brainstems, but at least the majority of posters were intelligent. Posts like the Vinnie / Eckie one are why I bring this stuff up. The only person profitting from the boots is Bahr. That's it. There's no way the band is getting a cut. They couldn't be that foolish to make such a deal. Just so you all know, there is another jammer who is planning a DT cd bootleg double disc for $20-$25, and is STILL looking at a profit on each disc. Maybe that will help serve to enlighten people of all the fuckery behind this whole issue. Matt Tedesco put in words better than I could have (being that I am a musician, and understand how important it is to be paid for what work you can find) I really don't feel that there's anything else to be said, of course, until next time I have to bring it up...

I've Been On The Jam For eons now And I Keep Hearing About Groups Like Superior That I Can't Get Anything By to Save My Soul. Are There Any "GOOD" Mail-Order Places That Carry Stuff In This Genre On Compact Disk? I Need Names, Adresses, Phone/Fax Numbers E-Mail Addresses, URL's And Accepted Payment Methods (i.e. What Credit Cards Do They Take, Do They Accept Checks). I Live In An Area Where Absolutely Nothing Is Readily Available. I Drive 6 Miles Just To Get To Wal-Mart, 30 To Get To The Nearest Computer Supply Place. Please, I Am Desparate!!!! There Are NO Specialty Shops In My Area AT ALL. Radio In My Area Isn't Good Enough To Be Joke. To Me "Good Country Music" Is Like "The Best Root Canal I Every Had." That's All That's Available In My Area Other Than cRAP An Crock 40. You Might Say I'm Fed Up. Please People, Help Me Out Here!

Just to clear up some of the misinformation...
I was in LA at a small microbrewry before the DT shows, and who should walk in? James and Mike! Seeing an opportunity to hang with the guys, I invited them over to my table and ordered up some stouts. They really like the good brew. Anyway, they indicated that DS was there to stay. As for their greatest concerns, they said they "have their mind on the money and the money on their mind".
So I guess KM was going to meet them there, and when he finally showed up, he brought some serious chronic. In California, it's legal for medical use, and he's been getting it to ease the pain of testicular cancer. Since it was kind of dark in the place, he went ahead and lit up. He passed a fat joint around the table, and boy, James has some lungs. I tried it, but I didn't inhale. Didn't want to ruin my presidential aspirations. Anyway, Mike doesn't smoke, but he got a big skunky bud from Kev, and crushed it over his nachos. He said it gives him a longer buzz that way. Plus he can take care of his munchies at the same time. Lodi dodi, they likes to pardi! So anyway, there was no talk of Kev coming back to DT in the near future. He and MP were talking about going into business together making Rush boots, but I don't know if they were serious.

Well, since ya'll won't shut up... I will add to the chaos... Prices, prices of Bahr pressings and other bootlegs... I don't think Bahr should lower his prices at all... he's selling stuff at or below market standard... basic economics... supply and demand, inelastic prices... If you don't like his prices, don't buy em... make tape copies, no ones stopping you, especially Bahr, if you want to press CD-R's of his CD's... go right ahead, he isn't stopping you, if you want to sell volume pressings of his CD's at $5 a pop, go right ahead, he CAN'T stop you... so there... everyone's happy... now go back and suck on your pacifiers...

Thanks to the people who directed me to www.mp3.com and www.mp3bench.com. Very informative. Except for one thing: what will I need to take samples of music? For instance, I rip a song with a cdripper but I don't want an mp3 of the whole song, only a one minute sample. What's a good sound editing program?
(Bad thing: even compressed, some DT songs, "A Change of Seasons" perhaps, are still gonna be HUGE. No "Here, you've just GOT to listen to 'The Gates of Delirium,' here's a file" for me.)
(BTW you indeed have GOT to listen to Yes's "The Gates of Delirium.")

Ha, ha, ha! I can't stop laughing about this one! Well no! I'm not that kind of guy, but if I were gay, I would go for DS, 'couse he's the one who plays for the 'other' team, isn't he? Ha, ha. Anyway, that reminds me that the only thing I didn't like about DT when I bought ther I&W CD was the picture of the band, in which they all appear to be gay, specially MP. I hope it was something as stupid as what Queensryche did in Rage for Order, when they spent more time in the hair-dressing saloon than in the studio or the concert hall. See ya! Bernardo Banner? I've read a lot about selling out, and Matthew Tedesco hit the nail right in the head: >when one is said to have "sold out," what is being >referred to is the selling of integrity, of pride. that simple. for >those who believe metallica sold out, they believe that metallica went >entirely against everything they had previously stood for, in terms of >never compromising with their music, or with its presentation I agree totally in the case of Metallica. I remember when they refused to do a video, because they didn't want to do the same thing that everybody did. When they recorded 'One', there were all these questions about their change of mind, and they replied that as a video from them was not expected, they decided to do it. Then it seems they realized the power of marketing and wore all black, playing with image. I think it's pretty stupid. I imagine that when going to a concert, if James Hetfield had forgotten his black sun glasses at the hotel, then he would have refused to play: "I can't see! I can't see!!" Hahaha. It was just a thought. Anyway, I haven't had the chance to see them live, and they'll be playing here in Australia in april, I think. I'll go and see them, but it'll only be for the sake of the good ol' times. PS: is there a chance that DT would come and play here in the near future? I hope so. We'd have the chance to see them play more old songs than new ones, before they fuck it up! I keep listening to FII but every time I do, I find it weaker, whilst the past albums sound tighter and better all the time. I'd like to believe in the long-jump athlete theory, but I fear they had reached their creative peak with I&W. Bye Bernardo Banner? No Banner!

Okay, I'll admit it -- I went to y7our site and downloaded your "porn"... What a crock. All I got was this sound file. I played it. I have to say, it's really well played (and programmed -- love the drums! ^_^) -- you admited yourself that there are "mistakes", but it's actually pretty good; all the mistakes are just chord replacements as far as I can hear (but I don't play keys, so...)
I enjoyed it, and I think if we can gather up some more attempts, maybe that fan-originated tribute album could be produced (and distributed by Prism Records ^_-)
