Glad to hear it. I admit, I certainly never meant to start this whole
fiasco when I posted that first message, but at least it's gotten some
problems addressed. I will definitely agree, tho', that you, especially,
have to watch the Jam regularly. I hope to hear from you soon.

    Hi,

last saturday I bought the Hollow years single. They had it just in
the store ! Since then I've only be playing one song: you or me.
]From the first keyboard tunes after the radio (the intro of the songs)
I really liked this demo version of You not me. Escpecially the
instrumental part starting at 3.00 is great, great keyboard changing
to a great guitar part.At the moment this instrumental part is one of
the greatest piece of music by DT.

Just to share my opinion. I guess the collaberation with Desmond
which changed You or Me into You not me, has been discussed enough.

A friend of mine bought a RATT cd, and instead got Handful Of Rain!

    Hi,

I guess the subject of Mike/Prism records has been discussed more then enough and I can imaging people complaining about having to wait over a half year for their disc. I had to wait for about 7 months for my VS, but you'll never hear me complain. The discs are well worth waiting for.

Mike is making discs on a fan to fan basis, and you cannot compare this with online CD services. So you can expect some longer delivery times. Of cource Mike should reduce the delivery time and I'm sure he's working his a** off to reduce the back-logged CD's. If he doesn't do this, people (as already mentioned here) will hestitate ordering new discs, although they would like to have the discs. So for the continuinity of his businiss this is very important.

I hope this tread will gradually cease and not return for the next few months.

One last word to Mike: keep up the great work!!!

    Patrick

The New York address has changed. According to the rsabbs page, it is now:

Dream Theater International Fan Club PO Box 20206 Greeley Square Station New York, NY 10001-0006

The N64 uses a MIPS R4300i chip. If i remember right it was well under 100 dollars in volume.

The N64 is a far more advanaced machine than any of the rest of them. Ironically enough, the Playstation uses a MIPS R2000/3000, i.e. a earlier generation chip from the same company. Playstation games do *not* cost 50-70 dollars per game. For a given game there is a one time cost of development, marketing and such (for that game. obviously programmers have a recurring salary, but each programmer doesn't collect royalties for each copy of a game sold, and programmers are working on other games after they get done with a game thats already on the market).

So the cost of a playstation game is basically the manufacturing process. So you have jewel case, cardboard box, CD pressing, and printing of instruction manual. Given that its sony we're talking about, im guessing top cost per game is 10 dollars. Everyone knows that *all* revenue in the console industry is made from the games, not the machines. How much does it cost to burn a CD ? about 2 dollars if you're doing it with a green CDR on a one time basis. If you're Sony, and you're pressing a few thousand at a time, what do you think it will cost :)

Anyway, more about the N64. SGI designed the whole thing. The goal was to make a 250 dollar machine that basically had graphics performance equivalent to the original reality engine equipped machines. SGI managed to pull it off. The processor alone is roughly equivalent to a P90. The graphics and audio subsystems offload a good deal of work from the CPU and are themselves the most impressive offerings on the market.

It really bothers me that anyone would buy a playstation given how breathtaking the capabilities and the games for the N64 are. I suppose its the "Button-Pounding Mortal Kombat" attitude thats taken over the gaming industry

For more info on the architectual superiority of the N64, check out www.mips.com or www.sgi.com

    to all:

i have decided to start selling dream theater underoos. i will personally handstitch the face of each DT member across you ass garments. they'll cost $100 dollars each, but because of sewing time and the anticipated backlog of orders, expect delivery sometime in the next 37 months. for an extra $10 per face, i will add all other members, or anyone remotely connected to DT, including kevin moore, his physician, kevin shirley, john myung's brother, derek's lover, the guy impersonating charlie on the 'net, and james' dealer, though anticipate an extra 6 months per face.

i pledge to you, my good and loyal customers, that i will post frequently concerning your orders, and every time someone mentions underwear, the guys in the band, ordering of any kind, or the air force one hijacking i prevented, i will be sure to post in response. each post, of course, will be longer than its predecessor.

    you all rule.

oh, yeah, and please don't deal with me directly... i would prefer all posts to go through the jam.

    thanks.

(yes, this was facetious, i do agree that it's ok to post about what mr. bahr <NOT CEO bahr> does, though the incredible amounts of loooooong wind from #3465 did shuffle the papers on my desk....)

When I saw last time, in August or September, the members were:

Robbie Steinhardt - violin and lead vocals Steve Walsh - keys and lead vocals Phil Ehart - drums Richard Williams - guitar Billy Greer - bass and vocals

4 of 6 original members - not too shabby. They also sounded better than any other time I'd seen them. Since Steve isn't singing everything, his voice sounded better, probably due to the rest. Their setlist was also the best I'd seen in the past 6 or 7 years, including such tunes as Journey from MariaBronn and Child of Innocence.

Anxiously awaiting the return of Kerry Livgren, KAI
