Is it my imagination or the 7:12-7:40 segment in Raise the Knife .ra file that's
floating around sounds a bit like Ytsejam (or some other WDADU song)?
Why the hell is that song not on FII?
---- > Subject: Vanden plas is the support band for euro-tourYeah, probably...I saw an ad in the paper today about the Sweden show and it had them (VP) as the supporting band.

yeah, restating information that's already been stated many times is something that should be done on private email.
> I feel that opinions aren't worth anything (more on this later), not even mine.
Most of the stuff sent here is opinionated, plain facts don't worth anything since they don't lead to any worthwhile discussion (check out the occasional thread about how cliff burton died on the metallica ng).
> Sending to the 'jam I was sure that more and more people would follow the > thread and correct my wrong facts or simply add some content that I didn't > know or didn't remember to post.
You're not absolutely sure Kevin Shirely is FII's producer?

damn chauvanist... ;)

..and don't bother to answer when someone replies to them...

*NO*, I was saying that I would be brainwashed into thinking that it's good. My impression on first listen is what makes me decide whether I like a song or not...it's either I can perceive everything on that listen and then I understand that I would just get bored of it, or that I see that I need more listens to actually understand the song. My point is - not all music is good for you, for me, or for anyone else for that matter and you're not being "open-minded" by forcing yourself into liking something. You also shouldn't force yourself to listen to YNM or any other bad (nipple) DT song, just because "it's by DT, and since they're such great musicians I must like it."
A computer is a perfect musician because it can perform any song accurately, but a computer can't write music. Compare this to a great musician with poor composing skills (subjective). My point is: A great musician doesn't always mean great music.
That was long, I'm not gonna proof-read it.

Then it won't matter if everyone were like Eric Larue (or whatever) at his peak?

Hey all,
First I want to know how or where to get on the 80's metal list (Richie Rivera remember me?)
Second - Does anyone know where to get or if you have some Stratovarius bootleg videos or cd's?
Third - I think impulse records is the best place to get stuff like Stratovarius, Superior, Vanden Plas, Angra, etc. Check my web page for a link to there web page, I don't know the address off the top of my head. Terrible ted's is good to but Impulse I have found to be a little cheaper.
Later,

I don't think there is a Fish CD-rom... The only CD-rom stuff Fish has ever released was the Brother52 video, on the Enhanced version of Sunsets On Empire (US release). It's not on the European one...

That is EXACTLY how I felt when I discovered them at age 16 ! :-) And when I listen to the old stuff, I'm there again. When I listen the new(er) stuff with Steve Hogarth, I can't help but be moved... They're one of those bands you can really get addicted to. _____

It's some crappy best of CD, released by EMI to celebrate Marillion's ten year record deal. It has 6 Fish-era and 6 Hogarth-era songs, plus two new recordings with Steve Hogarth (of course)... One of them is a Rare Bird cover called "Sympathy". For a much better track selection, check out "The Best Of Both Worlds" (2CD). _____

Yeah, youre right. But when I listen to DT, I listen for emotional impact just as much as flashy instrumentals and tight group work. I think we can all agree that DT has it all (or mostly, anyway) in those departments. But what I think sets DT apart from other bands is that within their music they bury real emotions, stuff people can relate to on more than just one level...And LTL carries such an emotional wallop that I think nothing compares to it.
My other emotional favorites include SDV, Voices, Scarred (what can I say, Awake was a moody album), and TAMP. ToT is pretty amazing emotionally too. All these songs Ive just listed leave me emotionally spent EVERY time I listen to them. No other DT songs really do that for me, although I LOVE every song that theyve ever written. (haha, I only "like" YNM : ) And I could be leaving out a few of their songs too. Mt1 and TTT are awesome, as well as PS and LiTS, Erotomania...I love those songs, but they just dont reach into my chest and show me my heart from the inside out as those others do.
And you probably wont find a more religious DT fan than me, so dont even start arguing : )
I missed two exits on the freeway yesterday because I got so caught up with LiTS, specifically the middle solo section. The middle of LiTS is right up there with those other emotional moments that I was talking about. Pure emotion on CD. I dont know how they do it.

Hey, This is a little late but I don't have access at home, had to wait until work to post this. Last Friday I heard an unbelievable thing on the radio-The 5:00 block dedicated to DT! I got on a little late but I heard BMS and PMU. They usually play 3 so I missed the first one I think. The reason I said Think is because they didn't play the radio edits, they played full length versions! The station is KLZX 106.5 in SLC known as K-rock. Of course, when I got home, I called them up and actually got through the first time. I praised them for playing DT, especially in a block like that and requested that they play even more. The DJ acted surprised because he said usually no one calls to praise but rather bitch about what they don't play. So this made an impression and, like a good jammer, I didn't complain about anything. Hell, if a station plays 3 songs in a row of DT, how can you complain? If any other Utah jammers heard this, call and tell em about it, we need to show support if we expect them to come here! :>
Okay I'll stop now, but this is official DT content.

I got the HY single Sat. --cool. Also got Savatage import "The Wake of Magellan"--pick it up!--only 20 bucks. The only band mentioned in the thank- yous (other than TSO, of course-that's a gimme) is none other than DT! IF anyone knows why, please shed some light on that. Also, as a footnote about Sava, a friend of mine knows Zak from his Wicked Witch days in Mass.! IMHO, the guys should keep touring as they wish, but in the meantime, also release Met II with the 5 leftovers-- that should keep everyone happy. If any of them are reading this, PLEASE don't pass over Providence, R.I., even if the Strand closed. There are other places to play. Also, one more time, does anyone have a copy of Howard Stern reading Jackie Martling's resignation letter on the air during his vacation???-----L8R.....

You keep saying this. Why don't you elaborate? We all know what the physical difference is, but what is the moral difference between an analog copy and a digital one? Yes, a perfect clone has a greater potential than a lower quality analog one to steal sales away from the band, especially in light of the possibility of further clones that could be made from it. But the albums are out of print and the band won't be making any money off of them either way. So, given that fact, the band "want's the music out there", but they only want crappy copies distributed, not good ones? That doesn't make sense to me in terms of promoting the band, and you still haven't explained how it's better. I know, Sony has the rights to the material. So what? No matter which way you copy it, you're copying something that the label won't be releasing. We all understand the implications of analog vs. digital when the material is still in print, but how does it matter given that it's not? -Clark

I dunno if you are spelling this out enough :) If Sony found out there were copies being openly made would they really care if it was analog or digital copies ? It is still breach of copyright isn't it ?

Hi people! I wanted to mention a band where I think bass solos might be bass solos in the way that the original post was referring to:
The Steve Morse Band
Dave LaRue definitely rules, and the solos are like little compositions and not fills. Let's see if I got this one right! Bye!

Yeah, i personally wanted to see the answer to that question about the mixer program, but i didn't want to waste precious bandwith with a post like, "if you reply privately please tell me too." So see? someone else benefitted from posting it to the jam. And about the sig, you should like it cuz it's easily identifiable so if you don't like rogerio and don't want to read his posts, you don't find yourself reading half of it before you realize who it's from and then go, "dammit, it's him!" You can just skip it from the beginning. Moo.

I think what Mike is trying to say is that, Echolyn can't or won't do much about you making CD-R's of the stuff, but Sony could sure use you as a sex toy in the courts...

I'm listening to the Empty Tremor samples Arash set up, and they definitely sound very good. This band sounds in some parts like DT, Shadow Gallery and Lemur Voice (sort of). Very cool. By the way, this was the first time ever when I downloaded an mp3 file zipped. The download was very fast, unlike the download of most mp3 files, which takes forever. Well, that's it.
