Some people need sarcasm alerts.. It appeared to me that the person who
was going to sell the unreleased tracks on CD-R was JOKING!! (of course I
could be dead wrong as well <grin>). He was trying to be as absurd as
    possible.

Hell, I HAVE a copy of the album on tape, and I just ordered it
            on CD for myself.......

The only problem some people have with the album is the Ronnie
James Dio-like vocals on some of the songs......

            The album definitely kicks though.........

Yup yup, this was my all-time fave solo until i heard his say at a clinic that HIS favorite Vai song was For the Love of God, so i started listening to that more, and now i like both of them. Love of God, Die to Live, and Scarred are my fave solos.

Actually, it was $60 plus $10 shipping per CD, so basically $70.

Well, I'm sure that several people are gonna reply to this (or already have, since there's 2 unread jams in my inbox - and i bet ya there'll be one more by the time i finish reading those 2), but Grahm was kidding. It was a satire on the whole morality of bootlegging thread that we recently managed to kill (again). Not that i minded it - it was one of the few things i read here that actually interested me... Oh well, umm, moo?

You're right Mike, but I'd like to know where I can find the official release of "Cover My Eyes", since it isn't on HY single neither on FII Japanese ed.

Im gonna put my 2 cents in..

DT: TAMP - picturing this solo , in the frame of mind i always use (thinking of it as JP expressing the immediate pain, anger and frustration that one fells after a loved ones death.) always brings a lump in my throat.. (no pun intended) Hells Kitchen - This whole song gives me goosebumps.. Scarred - just flat out rules Awake heavy jam - done after LSOAD during the awake tour.. JP's solo shows how he moved a bit into the jazz guitar realm...(IMO) Also...I feel JP shouldve just left the wah out of peruvian skies' solo... on the fix tape i have it sounds much more emotional..without the wah... same with voices.. thats probably my least favorite of his solos.. sounds like Hammet in there.....

theres many many more..these are the ones off the top of my head..

    Ok.

It seems that the subject will be very recurrent and I'll take a step ahead and make a tutorial about it. Expect it by Saturday.

    Covered topics:

    - "I don't know what a MP3 file is, can you help?" - "Hey, now that I know what it is, how do I get these damn things playing on my computer?" - "Cool, Man! How do I make my own MP3 files? Do I need extra software?" - "Hummm... I have a bunch of MP3 files here, how do I put them on a CD, for playing on my friend's CD player?"

I was motivated by the last question, which appeared here and some people asked for help, but I'm not able to type it here now (I'm tired, I'm going to bed). Included will be many links.

DAMMIT!!! NO ONE MENTIONED MY FAVOURITE SOLO OF ALL TIME!!!

The guitar at the end of 'Comfortably Numb' by Pink Floyd I have heard 10 different versions, and they all just lift me to nwe emotional levels. My favourites include the live concert versions, especially from the 1994 tour where the solo was over eight minutes of pure guitar/emotional ecstacy!.

Sorry.. its my favourite song of all time as well =)

Yes, without hesitation, and I'd pick up 10 extra copies to give as gifts for friends, if I had that many friends. This disc holds the record in my CD collection for spending the most time in my CD player. Get it, and while you're at it pick up their previous release "The Damnation Game". It also kicks major ass.

Lobsterman. I guess that's me? Maybe not. Perhaps there's another Lobster-related personage on this list I'm not familiar with.

Paul Stanley's Scottish? Hrmm... Since the thread was Scottish singers/lyricists/songwriters after all...or maybe it was another thread altogether! As a great talkshow host once said: "I'm all mixed up."

(He really baroque through on the pop charts. A-ha...doh.)

As his name has come up again lately, I'd like to say to everyone who likes Victor Wooten, or those who haven't heard (of) him and likes wanky-bass guitar, go out and get his newest album, "What Did He Say?" I've given it one listen so far since receiving in the mail today, and I'd warrant saying it is better than its predecessor, "A Show of Hands". For one, he seems to have put less emphasis on serious song-content (practically all the songs on ASoH are about racism) and more on having fun. So you get all sorts of stuff, from the Celtic sounding "The Sojourn of Arjuna" to the Zappa-ish "The Lonliest Monk" to the cover of the Beatles' "Norwegian Woord" (all done on a bass, one track). Pick it up if'n you get a chance.

To anyone interested, I'm selling dubbed copies of Dream Theater's newest studio album, "Falling Into Infinity". $58 plus applicable sales tax for a high-quality, durable Maxell Type II tape with my fanciful rendition of the cover art (including the inside cover if you know what I mean... tee hee) drawn in crayon on the J-card. They're going fast so send your order ASAP to Capitalism@aol.com.

Well I needed to put my 2 cents worth into this conversation about the copyright law. The only reason I'm going to say what I'm going to say is that Sony is holding the Echolyn albums and is not making them available for sale.

With the Copyright Law (which is from 1962 I believe and has been amended several times to make it more modern - mostly for the internet). But the real issue with the copyright law was and still is, is so people that produce a work/art that they are paid for it and that it is not stolen. I've studied the boring law in college and had to read about 500 some odd pages (SERIOUSLY) about the law - can you say boring.

Anyway the law obviously protects the artist. But as the example with blockbuster video that was brought up - copying THEIR video is legal. AS LONG as the video is used for personal use AND NOT SOLD!!!!!!!!! That is the kicker! The copyright rule obviously does not go out and say that, but in a round about way does say it (BTW I worked for Blockbuster Video for 3 years).

So what I'm saying, and again mainly because Sony is holding the albums and not allowing them to be purchased, COPY AWAY. It doesn't matter if it is analog or digital. Just don't sell. If you want a couple bucks for the cost of the blank disk - that's fine. I wouldn't say this if the CD's were available - but since Echolyn can't make any money regardless ----just do it.

The copyright law is fairly vague and covers a lot of stuff. But I believe since the government loves screwing us......well you know....although what you're doing is legal any ways.

I hope this clears up the copyright law mess.

    THE PETITION-

Why do hell do you want to put a petition out, when Mike has already said that there will be an album out this summer? Even if not.....you think a petition will have any effect after sending one last year.....NOPE.

    DAS IST ALES!
