            Ok.

           Now for something almost off-topic here: Are you interested
           in trading something? If you are, then you can get a version
           of my list of bootlegs by sending a message to
           <rbrito@linux.ime.usp.br> with the subject "send bootlist"
           (lowercase characters only, please).

           Here is my wantlist:

           * Metallica's :-))) special on MTV, with the long version of
             the video "The Unforgiven" and also the video of "The
             Unforgiven II". Please, if you can dub videos (especially
             if you can dub with HiFi), let me know. I'm also
             interested in getting videos of shows from that DAMN good
             album called "...And Justice for All". If you have videos
             from this tour, I'm *VERY* interested in setting up a trade
             with you. If you also have the long video of "One", I'm
             interested in getting a copy of it;

           * Dream Theater's performances from the following tours:

                  + "Fix for '96";
                  + "Fix for '97";
                  + "Home for the Holidays";
                  + "Falling into Infinity Tour".

           I already have the Toad's Place show (but it is a damn bad
           copy) and "Caught in Amsterdan'97" from the tours listed
           above.

           I'm mostly interested in videos with HiFi audio tracks and
           CD-R trades, but I'll also consider trades in conventional
           videos and analog tapes.

           BTW, if you are interested in getting a dub of Angra's
           bootleg called "Holy Land in the East", I can sell you a CD-R
           copy of this 2CD set for $30 (that's $15 for each disc, which
           is quite fair, IMO). Email me for further information. You
           can see both covers of this bootleg on the following URLs:

               <http://www.linux.ime.usp.br/~rbrito/angra1.jpg>
               <http://www.linux.ime.usp.br/~rbrito/angra2.jpg>

           If you are also interested in getting more bootlegs from my
           collection (such as "The FII Demos"), also let me know and we
           can arrange something.

           Also, if you have the DTIFC XMAS CD (both the 1st and the
           2nd) and you don't want it anymore, I can send you up to 2
           CD-Rs of your choice from my collection for them (I think
           that this is a more than favorable trade for you which has
           this CD and don't want it anymore). The samething applies to
           the "Hollow Years" single (I want the actual CDs with the
           liner notes, not dubs of them).

            Hope to set up some trades, Roger...

    > New Millennium - 4 <-- Putting the GROOVE in the prog!

    You call that a groove? Take the Time, now that was a groove. New Millennium is a great song, but it's rather sedate.

    > Hollow Years - 4 <-- Incredible emotion in James' voice!

    "Please let this be a hit song. Please let this be a hit song."

    > Just Let Me Breathe - 5 <-- POWER! :)

    Anger. Which I like. But the music, it's just a rock song.

    I think the thing about the new album is that it is the first DT album where I would call DT a pop band. In the days, I wouldn't be sure exactly how to describe them to my friends, it would take me some time, but now they're a pop band. I can rate FII along with "Travelling Without Moving" (a kick-butt album, I must admit), but the albums last year I really liked were by Fish, Fates, and Fleck/Meyer/Marshall.

    This makes the first time the DT album wasn't in the running for my favorite albums in a year.

    DT are a good pop band, don't get me wrong, but the pop I like to listen to is not metal.

    > Good idea. OK, let's see, on your scale Pull Me Under gets a 4, > Another Day and Take the Time both get 4's, Surrounded gets a 4, > Metropolis gets a 4, Under a Glass Moon gets a 4, and Wait for Sleep > and Learning to Live both get 4's, making Images & Words the all time > best Dream Theater album. Gee, that wasn't too hard. :)

    So if someone says, "Paul Humm" says this song/album is an absolute classic, you must hear it, it's perfect, we tend to think "ah, but that guy loves everything the same. He's like Mikey."

    Personally, the only album I may come close to saying is 100% genius is "Epilog," and that still has a low-point/ignorable track in the track where the band didn't have the time/money/whatever to record the song, but the album sleeves were already printed, so they put some sound effects in instead.

    hi, great to help you out: Jake E. Lee G was with Ozzy and later with own great band Badlands two albums of Badlands as far as I know Badlands and Voodoo Highway

    George Lynch G had a "solo" band called Lynch Mob two albums of Lynch Mob: Wicked Sensation and Lynch Mob and a solo one called Sacred Groove

    Deen Castronovo D was with Sting in the studio

    Billy Sheehan B Mr. Big, and also Niacin which is a trio w/Dennis Chambers (d) and John Novello (B3), great one

    To Dennis, I like your way of arguing, and stevie, I'll join you in cutting hair right after I manufactured a popular exploion for me.

    And: what's this DT vs Metallica songwar about? All gone nuts I guess. To repeat my question: How old are you and are you the god's of taste? I guess you are not .-...and that leaves me sleepless. schnippx

    I've heard three, now I'm hungry for more!

    These guys are amazing. The craftsmanship is very similar to DT, but not without their own identity, at least from what I hear in the demos on their site. The tail end of that "Ashen Days" mp3, when it switches time and the singer jumps into "Seven years/and I'll wait seven more..." that's a thrill.

    Does anyone out in ytse-land have other samples aside from "Living in Fear," "Despite the Waves," and "Ashen Days"?

    Jammers,

    I'm very curious about Empty Tremor's Apoco-loco-telekinesis-ish debut album (shameful head-bow for not knowing the spelling). I've heard some samples of their stuff, and I'm truly impressed with the melodic tones of "Rules of Time" (sounds a bit like "Wait for Sleep," from the bit I heard). Can someone give me an "album review"? I have just enough money to order either Empty Tremor or Arkhe, and since I haven't heard anything from the latter...

    You can reply privately if you wish--I'm not going to flame you for giving me your honest opinion, but others might.

    Just go to Under A Cyber Moon (http://www.prognosis.com/dream) and go to the sound clips section. Move your mouse over the links to the FII Demos and write down the address, minus the filename. Type in the shortened address, and you will be taken to a directory with the 5 FII demos. Right-click on the links and choose "Save link as..."

    I found a bunch of promo CDs whilst rumaging through a CD shop this past weekend, most of which I am keeping :-) But I did pick up all the King's X "Fool You" promo CDs, so I have four of these for sale / trade. These are probably just for the hardcore collectors as they only have the LP track on them and no fancy liner notes (just black and white lettering, no graphics). Hmmmm, maybe I should change my recipient's name to: Mettalajam. Please, I know the Mettalica discussion WAS supposed to be centered on bands selling out, but now it has just become a talk about METALLICA selling out. If you want to talk about this, find another mailing list. Because I for one, and I know I'm not alone, have NOTHING to say about Mettalica. They could all die in a freak tour bus crash with a UFO for all I care.

    Next: For all those people out there who hate YNM (I'm one of them), check out YOM instead. Trust me, it's 100% better. The song flows better, bridges are beautiful, and it fuckin GROOVES baby! I just got my copy of the Hollow Years CD, and I must say that Desmond Child massacared that song. YNM sounds like a bunch of snippetts(sp?) and watering down of YOM. That song shoulda been left alone. I'm also quite fond of TWiUtB. VERY cool song. All in all, I think the $12 I spent on that CD was well worth it. If you want a place that to find it, check out www.cdconnection.com They have all kinds of hard to find CD's like Angra, Symp.X, Shadow Gallery etc. And they have a FAST delivery.

    I'll ask again because I'm stubborn like that: Can anyone tell me where to find SOME version of WAYN besides the .ra file???? I REALLY like that song. Thanks in advance.

    The spread of techno in Europe, and its predominance, are quite frightening. American radio bites a lot of the time, but at least we don't suffer that. And Backstreet Boys, much to my dismay, actually made it to the U.S. too. UGH!!

    I heard this album over the summer (from my cousins in Germany) and it's got some pretty good stuff on it. They did a tour with Nevermore...there's some video out that I also got to see. The singer - I forget which of the two bands - had some weird thing going with the front of his hair...
