Matt informed his buds over at the Perpetual Motion site

that another band has registered the name Chaos Theory and his band
is looking for a new name. I have no idea what the new Chaos Theory

in order to get the messages individually and not in a digest. This allows
people who are in ack mode to respond to a message before the digest is

Well, now that I'm home and just listened to ACoS, I'll put
here the time of the samples taken from the movie "Dead
           Poets' Society".

           * 7:07 - "Carpe Diem, Seize the day"
           * 8:12 - "Gather ye rosebuds while ye may (...)"
           * 9:48 - a lot of samples start here, but they are hard for
me to take note of them, especially because I don't
speak English and have problems understanding spoken
words. But at 10:01, there's something like
                    "something happened (...)", which I don't remember
from the movie, but which I guess that is from one
of the tragic accidents there (I won't say exactly
what it is to avoid spoiling the fun of those who
                    haven't seen it).

           Well, that's it.

           See ya, Roger...

I cannot begin to describe how much amusement you people on this list provide for me. But my question is: When did Chris boast about his guitar chops? Or did I miss that post? All I remember was Bafu praising Chris' 8-finger frenzy. Anyone up for a peeing contest? Hah.

Lineup for the album: Guitars: Romeo. Bass: not even worth mentioning. Drum programming: Romeo. Key programming: Romeo. Guest appearance on the Paganini piece: Mike Pinella, of Symphony X. The album is good solid shred, but the drum machine and the semi cheesy bass (IMO. Hear that? I M O) hurt the overall quality of tha disc. Line that up with the fact that I got it for $30 when it came out, and you have the basis for me not calling it a great MR performance. The guitars shine, but it is not an immortal awesome disc.

    > From: Pat Sullivan <psull@ici.net> > Alright, but I still think there are people who want the whole package. Not > maybe to the point that they'd throw out the CD if they lost the case, but....

And I kind of questioned why someone would care that much about a Mike Bahr package... I think even he might question that, when we're talking this enormous difference in cash. But as I say, this could be exactly what the collectors who want Petrucci's underwear need :) > Ummm...that's *exactly* how most of those posts were coming across. Fair enough. I apologize if I seemed harsh. Going back and re-reading my post, you're right. I was at least a bit "disparaging".. but i didn't mean any harm. I will still point and snicker when a Subconscious, or a Home Sweet Home or whatever sells for $75-100.

    > ..And thanks for taking that out of context. The part you quoted was > simply a lead in for the joke about the blank pages. That's interesting > coming from someone who frequently complains about being misquoted/taken > out of context.

I misread the "joke." I didn't recognize the humor, so I didn't think that was a necessary part of the post to quote. Again, I apologize.

My first actual guitar was $475. If you can find a UV for $400, or any other 7 string for that price, e-mail me at someone@prognosis.com Typically, you're not going to find a used 7 string for under $750, if you're LUCKY as HELL. :)

Again, to chime in as a 7 string owner, I wish you lived near Chicago, so you could come over and try a 7 string our for yourself. It's really not vastly different at all. > Also, since there's been a bit of controversy over Chris Ptacek's > actual guitar skills, I have a proposition to make. Chris, if you'll > find it in your heart, make us Jammers an MP3 of you playing

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Oh man, that's scary. Well, first off, there's no real controversy. I'm not as good as Bafu said, and no one has really put down my playing on the digest... so there's really no controversy at all. I have a few samples, but IMO they suck hard. The only one I have of my band is on my page, but it was a scratch demo from about a year ago, and it's recorded into .wav from a REALLY bad source tape... I am not proud of the song, the tone, or my solo (though I like my buddy's solo on the track). Anyways, mail me privately, and I'll get you that shitty sample, or let you know when I have something current and acceptable. Let's keep MY music off the jam, for now at the very least. :)

You know, it's kind of chafing to hear all this stuff bashing bootleg CD inserts, especially when I'm the one who designed some of them.

I knew I was underappreciated, but I never thought I'd be considered worthless...! *sob*

Anyone who wants to see large scans of my original artwork for the covers (and disk art) for Antiquities, Scenes From a Memory, Critical Mass, and Precious Things, you can find them here:

They make great Windows/Mac desktop bitmaps, baby.

And as far as I know, it's basically the only DT-related artwork out there that wasn't rendered in cad or something. That count for anything?

Please, don't reply to this message or others like this privately. I am in this list mostly for questions and answers like this one, so when someone posts a message like this, I too want to read the replies!!! Thanx. About this thread: >Mark Slaughter Vocals Slaughter This guy used to sing with ex-KISS Vinnie Vincent or Vincent Cusano (whichever his real name is) in his band, The Vinnie Vincent Invasion, before he formed his own band.

Trevor W. Hoit wrote: >Someone mentioned they were listening to Chris Poland's Metalopolis. >IMO, this is a pretty good cd. FYI, he played guitar in Damn the >Machine. I posted that. Chris is simply spectacular. I first heard him play in Megadeth's Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?, and I have to say that his playing is incredible. Damned the Machine is amazing. What's happened to them now? Anybody knows?

About Iron Maiden, I heard that they're recording their new album, which is said to be more powerful than their previous one. That's all I know. On Chris DeGarmo, well... QR was one of my favourite bands, until Promised Land, when IMHO they just sucked royally. His departure means nothing now, 'cause to me, they're going down and further down. Perhaps I'm being unfare to them, because I have never even heard "Hear in the Now Frontier", such was my disappointment. As for Nuno Bettencourt being his replacement, well, I think his compositions can be categorized as 'kitsch', thus his contributions to QR would make the band look pretty ridiculous. 'Operation: Mindcrime' could never be placed together with 'III Sides to Every Story'.

Now, some DTC: I keep finding people who just loathe YNM and HY 'cause they're commercial, but don't they realize that DT have had that sort of songs in previous albums? In the case of YNM, enters Desmon Child. He is a kind of a jinx, I agree: his hand has touched the music of bis names like KISS, Aerosmith, RATT... you name them! I know that he recorded a solo album which is simply rubbish. He's been there to 'help' make a song more appealing to the masses-that's his role. It's not his fault. Someone in the DT camp must have called him, brought him to this project. He just did his job. The blame lies on the person who suggested him (anyway). YNM doesn't molest me. Instead, it is BMS (which reminds me of this incredibly stupid band: White Zombie) that's driving me away from FII (clearly DT's most pityfully insignificant album ever!). The drums sound like empty tin cans, you can't almost hear the keyboards, and BMS is a song that must have taken them 2 minutes to write (big effort guys-I know that it's your record and you do what you want, but for that song, you really thought with the 'other' head) - Now the flames.....
