MEGADETH BRINGS ON NEW DRUMMER, JIMMY DEGRASSO
New York - July 9, 1998 Multi-platinum hard rock act Megadeth, announced
today that they have decided to replace drummer, Nick Menza with Jimmy
DeGrasso. Founder and frontman, Dave Mustaine explains "we've had a lot of
good years with Nick, but the band's relationship with him had run it's
course. We came to that conclusion after Jimmy stepped in mid-June to cover
concert dates for Nick, who had taken a leave of absence to have a benign
(non-cancerous) cyst removed from his knee. We wish Nick well and hope the
best for him." Co-founder and bassist David Ellefson concurs, "Nick was a big
part of Megadeth's growth over the last four albums, however it became
apparent to all of us that it would be in everyone's best interest to move
on."
DeGrasso had developed history with members of Megadeth after meeting them
first on tour while in Suicidal Tendencies, and then later while performing
with Alice Cooper. Menza had been with the band since 1989, performing on the
last 4 Megadeth releases (Capitol); Cryptic Writings, Youthanasia, Countdown
to Extinction, and Rust in Peace.
Megadeth is currently on tour with Ozzfest and will headline dates as well
through mid-August. Their latest single "Secret Place," from their critically
acclaimed album Cryptic Writings, has just been released and was most added
first week out. It marks their 4th Top 40 rock radio hit this year.

This would be great in theory, but both of these objections are very valid.
For the first, tho' the chances of getting busted for doing straight
trades (as opposed to selling boots) is very slim (except try telling that
to the Springsteen trader) :), there's no reason to take a chance. For
the second, while most traders will generally do a reasonable amount of 2:1
trades for new traders, it can be really time consuming. When I offered
the full '94 Foundations Forum show with Jordan Rudess on keys a few months
back I got right at 80 emails requesting it in _6 hours_. 90% of these
were people that had nothing to trade. It's great that so many people are
interested in starting a collection, but it's just not possible to accept
every request from everyone - especially when no new material is being
received in return. It's a great idea to do the master list of DT shows,
tho', so best of luck with it!

I believe (don't quote me on this) that Real Audio Plus can record, but
only if the stream allows it. The Liveconcerts.com feeds don't do so.
There is, I know, a patch (ie, crack) that lets you record any stream, but
I haven't looked for it and don't know what version of RA it needs, etc.
You could probably search for it on one of the "warez" Usenet groups...
Good luck, and let us know if you get it!

:) Thanks for the kind words there Mark... Maybe that's why I object so
much to selling boots (I still can't figure out the exact reason). There's
no community in it. Whenever you trade boots you meet new people with
similar interests who are in it for the music. As long as you both trade
in a timely fashion and do it correctly (so as to not piss each other off)
you know you've got a new contact for boots as well as someone you can talk
to about topics you both enjoy. It's great... When you buy you're just
dealing with someone who's in it for the money. Take care all!

I constantly "subscribe" to ytsejam@request.com and have never gotten a

reason I am able to send this is a DT fan gave me the direct address into the

Please alert someone to contact me at nshsunsfan@aol.com, or just sign me

Thanks much.

I found a few used CDs for a decent price. I actually found LTE
used for $9.99. They had a few new copies, too (at Vintage Vinyl
in St. Louis, by the way). I also snagged ELP's Brain Salad
Surgery ($8), Tull's Agualung ($8), and Rollins Band's Come in and
Burn (got that one for $5 :). One dude there even noticed my FII
tour shirt and asked about the show (i.e. where I saw them) and
said he saw them in St. Louis with Fates. All in all a pretty decent
night at the old used record store.

P.S. I'll be out of town for a few days starting tomorrow, but I
promise that review of the Saviour Machine show is coming. I've
just been run pretty ragged since getting back from Cornerstone.
Also, I know it's a little ways off, but anyone interested in seeing
SM play in Chicago on Halloween, let me know and we'll hook up.

ok, I just discovered the MIDI world...I played a Roland PMA - 5 and it sounded quite good, when you used the distorted guitar tracks it even gave you some feedback, I thought it was a very good machine to have when doing homemade demos....also i tried a MIDI synthetizer for guitar and it sounded really good, I dont know if the instruments were sampled or not but it really sounded like real instruments, i think it was a roland too....
does anyone knows of good MIDI stuff?
I also want to get a new soundcard, Ive heard the 64 bit cards have sampled sounds, any recommendations? --- MP3 of the week - "Staying Alive" the Bee Gees cover with Ozzy on vocals, Dweezil on Guitars, guest solos by Nuno, Steve Lukather and Zakk Wylde: http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/2025/
