    >Mr. KorgX3,

    Called me mister. Nuff respect.

    > I really think you should be thrown off the fucking list the way you
    >feel the need to cuss people out like that. You've made your opinion

Cuss people out for what? Way off-topic posts? What's the problem with
that? Someone needs to do it, dammit!

    >Korg post and not said "you know what? He's pretty cool". Maybe I just
    >wasn't paying attention, but you just blew it. We're trying to be nice,

Sure, I like to post witty comments about DT and try to be cool. Who
doesn't? But there are times when one has to forego that facade and just go
off. I felt that was an appropriate moment because I felt that Rogerio went
way off base with his post. I'll get on to why I felt that way later. I
knew I was being an asshole when I sent it, but Rog was just really asking
    for it, IMO.

    >civilized human beings, yet it's people like you who create all the
    >rumors out there about the Ytsejam being filled with snobs. I feel like

What's so snobbish about wanting on-topic conversations? I could care less
if we talked about John Mellencamp or Weird Al or even Lawrence Welk here.
At least it's music related. Unless they play Metropolis when Brazil comes
running onto the field today while 96 French spectators are crushed to death
because an unintelligent and uncaring mob wants a better view of the game, I
don't want to hear about it.

    >all of us on the jam are family, and as such we have every right to
    >disagree, but being that much of an asshole is just unexcuseable. Now I

No, it was all intended to get your attention. A sort of reverse
psychology. If I had posted an intellectual lecture people would have
simply skimmed it and discarded it without a thought. I bet alot of people
liked reading it, though, because it contained filthy language, immature
bantering, and disgusting references to unorthodox sexual practices. (Hey,
South Park's making millions off of that, why can't I?)

    > God, I'm 17 and way above your mental capacity.

There's the assumption of the week. Beat me at Scrabble, and I might
    acknowledge that. :)

    >argue either way because I agree sports don't belong here, even though I
    >feel it unites the jammers in yet another way, and makes us closer.

Maybe it does unite jammers in some way, but if it does, it is a very SMALL
percentage of jammers. I mean, it's cool that jammers do find things in
common with each other, but put your favorite team in your sig or something,
please. There's no need for you guys to talk about what a stud Ronaldo is
here. Whenever I see the name Ronaldo it makes me think of a clown in a
yellow suit with big red shoes accompanied by a menagerie of strange beings
brought to life by a drug-influenced imagination.

    >Maybe you don't want that. Also, the jam is the only way I hear about
    >half of the games out there.

http://www.espn.com/ Gee. That was hard to find. Oh, my! Their top story
for the day is about World Cup Soccer! Wow! What a surprise! (Ack, I just
    overloaded my sarcasm detector)

    >World Cup on here. When you talk like that people don't say "'ya know
    >what, he's right". they just say "What a dick."

Actually I've received private letters reflecting both. And of course I'm a
dick. I wouldn't be human otherwise, anyway...

My biggest reason for the protest is that I hate sports in general. The
whole principle that (at least in the US) our school's athletic programs
receive more funding than any educational programs really pisses me off.
Then people recommend athletes as role models? Most athletes get free rides
through school. They get bigger scholarships than anyone else could ever
hope for. They coast through college hoping a talent scout will pick them
up before they flunk a course and lose their ride. Either way, most never
complete their "education." Then they get caught doing drugs and catching
diseases from prostitutes. When they get out of prison/rehab they start
these big "Don't Do Drugs," "Practice Safe Sex," and "Get An Education"
campaigns to serve as their community service time and everything's supposed
to be OK again. Can you say "hypocrisy?" (You'd better be reaching for a
dictionary because I just got triple points for that word.) Would it be
wrong at this point for me to call bullshit? I think not.

And these guys are our kids' role-models when someone like Stephen Hawking
is unlocking the mysteries of the universe while confined to a wheelchair
because he's battling Lou Gherig's Disease. Raise your hand if you've even
heard of the guy. What? So few hands? Maybe it's just me, but I respect a
guy who can determine the integral of f(y)=2x and explain the results of the
resultant parabolic curve a little bit more than a guy who can run faster or
    jump higher than me.

I'm sorry, but I was too late to catch the "I wanna be like Mike" bus 8
years ago and have been bitter ever since.

    > And La Crosse? It's my favorite sport, and I don't play any sports at

La Crosse was just an example. That, at least, isn't a bad sport to watch.
Watching people beat the fuck out of each other with sticks is always fun.

    >all. I don't care at all for most sports. But personally I'd love it if
    >someone would post La Crosse on here, maybe just to piss you off.

As long as it's at the end of a relevant DT or music related post it
wouldn't bother me at all. I've said that often enough. There are many
other places to discuss sports, so there is no reason why it should be done
here. If you don't like it, then it's up to Skadz to decide. If he decides
sports are OK, you won't hear another peep out of me. Unless he says
otherwise though, I'll be all over these sporty people like Michael Jackson
on a 4 year old until either it stops or I get bored of it. But, all of my
hateful flames will go through private mail from here on, and they will be
10 times more luminescent than before. If I get attacked on the jam,
however, you will be pissing napalm by the time I'm done with you, so, for
your own health, don't go there. :)

    Nuff bitching about sports...

Fellow Jammers, in response to alternative listening choices in addition to
prog. Please do yourselves a favor & purchase>> The Rippingtons ( Live in L.A.
) !! This is contemporary jazz at it's finest. Every musician on this CD
compliments the others. They perform with a degree of synchronicity that I
personally found to be unheard of prior to listening to them.An added bonus,
no vocals! For those of you who do opt to purchase, head straight for track 6
( Highroller), & wait patiently for Kim Stone's bass solo at the midpoint of
the song !!! You will not be dissapointed !!!

Ozzfest show, and man was the sound terrible. Most bands were all drums.
During the shit bands (pre-Limp Bizkit) you really couldn't distinguish a
thing. It was just a thumping mass of detuned guitar noise. By far the worst
sound I've ever heard at a profeessional concert. Even Megadeth was piss poor
soundwise for the first 1/3 of their set.

to the guy who asked, if you want to find out who's playing, go to
www.intelfest.com. they have a list- they're like 300 or so bands in about 20
clubs. chances are, unless you're reeeeally keen on the nyc scene, you may not
know a lot of these bands. it's still a worthwhile experience, i think.

    Nick,
Umm....You COULD have mentioned it to ME!!!!!!!! Oh well, since we

you need any of my info, feel free to take it off my site or ask me, I've

On a side note, anyone going to the August 8th show in Hartford, CT?
It'd be kinda kewl to meet some fellow 'Jammers' before/after the show.

Rush(falls under classic as well as prog, I guess)
    Triumph
    Pat Travers
    LTE(is this really prog?)
Michael Schenker(solo, UFO, MSG, early Scorps)
    Eric Johnson
    AC/DC
    ASIA
    Extreme
Hootie and the Blowfish(yup, that's right)
    Kansas(see Rush above)
    Joe Jackson
    Shooting Star
    Y&T
    Dokken

All this, when I'm NOT listening to DT, that is.

    Here's my non-prog list:

    KMFDM
    Depeche Mode
    The Cranberries
    Ozzy
    Metallica '84-'88
    Heart
    The Fixx
Save Ferris (hate-mail me, I deserve it)
Other '80s rock/alt. bands I can't think of right now.

Ya know, most bands I listen to are prog-SOMETHING.
Styx are prog, Faith No More are prog, and all my *favorite* bands are
all prog. The first 3 in my n/prog list are some of my favorites, but
the other stuff is just stuff I listen to. Isn't Steve Vai prog? He's
not really one of my favourites, but I do like PaW.
