I just saw VH at Arco Arena in Sac on Wednesday. The opening band is 'Monster Magnet'. I would describe them as a 'Spinal Tap' of the 90's.

Man, hearing the old tunes for the first time live was incredible. Gary did an awesome job.

Here in Phoenix --- Monters of Rock opened for VH. Students of the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (sound interns) rate the concert highly unremarkable. But what do they know. . . I unfornately didn't get to go myself.

Hello! I have a question for those who attended the Paris show that was taped for the live CD and video. How was James' voice that night? Do you think there will have to be any overdubs in order for the songs to be released on CD? I was just wondering this because I would really like for it to be completely live, not like the live songs on the ACOS EP where James' vocals were taped on top of the live recording. Thanks for any information relevant to this question. Bye!

couldn't skadz set up the listserv to scan for this text at the beginning of a post, and if it exists, block the post? or maybe send a message to the poster letting him know why it was rejected. that way the poster can fix his program and continue to post. no? i dunno how the listserv program works... does it have a way of scanning for text or sumfin? just an idea. Anyone know what's up with the ESPN fantasy football league? At the end of last season, there was some mention of a "keeper" league being started. Any idea what happened to this? Do we get to keep the same players we had last season or are we starting all over again?

You think a country like Sweden would over expose bands like Americ= a does? I do wish the best for DT, and it would be cool to see them become more well known, but not in this country. Opinions are open....<<

I personally would love to see OFB parallel the course RUSH pioneered onc= e upon a time. I got into them in junior high back in 1977 after 2112 and AftK. To my friends I was a freak! =93Who the hell is this band you=92re always talki= ng about, man!=94 is what I always heard. (And still hear today, in referenc= e to DT, BTW.) Well, it took until 1980 (PW, SoR) before they began to get serious airplay. They=92re eighth release! Even after that it took a whil= e before they became huge, and they still never got the kind of air-play th= e =91flavor-of-the-month=92 bands of today get. RUSH made it in spite of wh= at the press did, which basically rag on Geddy's vocals. I don=92t want DT to be shooting stars that=92ll burn out and I know they won=92t be! Unfortunate= ly, I believe a couple of common principles can be applied here which will prev= ent them from getting the kind of radio airplay and popularity which today=92= s music gets. 1) Gaussian distribution and 2) economics. 1. Ahh, the old bell curve:

    popularity * * * * * * * crap mediocre high quality =3Dpopular

Since DT is definitely of the highest quality, they are doomed to a relatively low level of popularity.

    2. Since this greedy world of people, who IMHO are generally maggots, is driven by money, radio stations will only play the music which will attra= ct the most listeners so that they can sell the most commercial airtime. Tha= t=92s why you find markets like the one I=92m in (Balt/Wash) which has three ma= jor radio station which all play the same shit. Sure one=92s a little more he= avy, the other is more alternative but it=92s basically the same crap. The rec= ord company wants you to keep hearing the same recycled shit they market over and over again until you accept it as good and eventually buy the records.

The sad reality is that truly high quality music (or anything for that matter) such as DT cannot be appreciated by the ignorant masses and thus will always have a limited appeal.

So, hopefully I haven=92t offended anyone or dashed their hopes of seeing= OFB on MTV=92s Total Request. If they do wind up all over the radio and MTV, = then I=92ll know they=92ve become another Metallica and that would be sad. Strapping on my asbestos space dye vest, The I-Man

Keep the fucking sports off the jam unless you actually have something relevant to say. How fucking hard is it? Post something relevant and then in your sig or something put "Brazillian football rocks!" It's not that hard. Then if someone reads your post and sees you like the same team or whatever then they can contact you. Everyone else does it that way. You're the only inept one around here.

I've been cleaning out my e-mail lately and a lot of people are e-mailing me and NOT getting the responses. I know my mail works fine because hundreds of people are getting the responses just fine. Before you go bugging me again and again with the same copied mail, getting angrier and angrier each time, CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR DAMNED E-MAIL SERVER IS WORKING PROPERLY. I am responding to stuff and the other end is just not getting it, so they forward the same mail again, this time with a "Respond, you dickhead!" attached to it. And there's nothing I can do about it because I just replied to the same address they put on the e-mail.

Here are a few specific ones:

Dan Pluta: Your huge order was sent, man. a LONG time ago. That one's ancient history. And it was a LOT of discs, so PLEASE don't tell me it never got there. That's one order I'll have to wait for a recall on before I do a re-send because it's just too many discs to say "oh well, it must be lost, guess I'll send another huge shipment".

Kevin Hulme: You should have the lasers by now. The shipping place tore the package and had to have me re-pack it to be sent, but as a result they upgraded it for free to UPS 2-day air. That was Monday. You should have it by now. Worst case: by Monday. Tracking number is one of the following three: 1Z 8XX 843 03 1008 96$% where $% is either 34, 52, or 43. (I have my receipts from all shipments that day with all the tracking numbers but it doesn't say which of the three is yours.)

Luciana Urban: I have received your mails. Since it is the first time your discs haven't been received, I will re-send both to you via international registered mail. That should solve the problem.

Antoni Krasinski: Twice, I sent you a replacement The Darkest of Winters for the disc that was damaged in transit a good while ago. As you're my only customer in Poland and you don't get the shipments, I worry that they may be held by customs. I'll try a UPS shipment and see what happens.

To all: Sorry I had to do all this in public but obviously my private replies were not reaching their recipients. And there were maybe 6 or 7 more people I'd like to address but I'm running low on time right now. Basically if you have not gotten a response from me in *forever* and have had to copy the same mail to me over and over, please check your e-mail server and your message properties to make sure the return path is solid. Other than the "ANTISPAM" in mine, a simple reply reaches me 100% of the time, so my end works fine.

And to those wondering... yep, this is pretty much what I do with shipments that never get there. It is costly as hell but unless I register every shipment, a financial impossibility, all I can do when someone doesn't get their discs is just swallow the cost of making a new one and send again. And that's why doing this sort of work isn't as cheap as it looks.
