    hey ye all jammers,

I'm wondering what you jammers listen to besides prog rock (yes, early
genesis, elp, marillion, rush, pink floyd, king crimson, gentle giant, et
al) and prog metal (dt, fates warning, savatage, etc). This could include
"normal" classic rock (Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin), "normal" metal of any
type, proficient or not, (Metallica, Judas Priest), and anything else. So,
basically, I'm asking for anything not in the "progressive" category.

    Here are mine:

    Metallica
    Stones
    Live
    New Order
    Joy Division
    The Cure
    The Police
    Doors
    Hendrix
    Front Line Assembly
    NIN

Since you asked, I have it and I love it. The album is not a typical
guitar solo guitar record. It is an album chock full of catchy,
radio-friendly songs with a Beatles/ Cheap Trick feeling throughout.
Lyrically, there are no deep insights into the plight of the common man,
but that is not the album's intention. It's the type of album that you can
throw in your car stereo on your way to the beach. It's the perfect summer
album (especially since some songs contain Beach Boys-eque harmonies).
A lot of the songwriting style actually reminds me of Mr. Big's "Green
Tinted Sixties Mind." Like Nuno before him, Paul sings and plays almost
all the instruments on the album. His voice is actually surprisingly good,
since I never really considered him to be a backing vox extraordinaire
like a Nuno or a Richie Sambora. The downside to the album is that there
is an extremely boring jam at the end that lasts for 20 minutes. LTE has
nothing to worry about, if you know what I'm saying. That aside, I fully
recommend it. Just don't be expecting Passion & Warfare, or anything like
    that.

    Hello,
            On band break-ups:
    >Saigon Kick(for a while).....

Don't know if I'm reading you the right way, but SK is still together, in a
manner of speaking. The only remaining original member is Jason Bieler, but
they have an album due out this year. They're also recording under the name
Flat too, so look for that later this year.

    >--Matt (women in general are sexy... ^_^)

I agree. My original statement was that Diana Krall sounds sexy. To me
there is no other white female singer that sounds "sexy". But then again,
    I'm anal. :)
            Rogerio said:

No, I can keep saying stop posting about soccer. I don't post about hockey,
or football so I'm saying, just as Skadz has said: DON'T POST ABOUT SPORTS.
I'm not picking on you Rog, but I'm sick of this shit, I don't care how
    often the stupid tourney is.

    >I'm sure you'll understand my point here and be

Your point is valid in "soccer-world", but this is the Ytsejam and such a
point has no place. Sorry Rog, but you're way off here. And I played soccer
for eight years, so its not that I know or care nothing about it. Since
Korg already reamed you out, I'll take a backseat.
Sorry for the drivel. My next post will have some substance. Maybe. If I
    feel like it.

    Hello,
Well, I just got back from a triple feature at the old cineplex. Some
    thoughts:
    Lethal Weapon 4, good movie, but not great, thumbs up;
    Small Soldiers, consistently funny and some good action, thumbs up;
Armageddon, early contender for WORST movie of the year, way
ahead of Godzilla in that race, a tremendous waste of talent,
      thumbs way-the-hell down.

And just so you Rush fans can take heart, though the (barely noticeable)
Tom Sawyer cover is in Small Soldiers, the ORIGINAL is in the preview for
the new Adam Sandler movie "The Waterboy". It shocked the hell out of me to
hear it. Oh, and the highlight for the whole movie trip was the preview for
"Blade". Finally, Wesley Snipes doing something good with his talent.
Now, for some MUSIC reviews. More bands that few people on here listen to,
I'd imagine. First off: Everclear, "So Much for the Afterglow". This is a
really good album, I must say. Sure the songs are catchy, but the lyrics
are actually pretty thought-provoking. Normal Like You is a great track
(especially for anyone who's been on prescription happy pills). The two
songs from the radio (title track, Everything To Everyone) aren't even the
    two best for once!
Next up: Prince, "The Hits 2". As with any compilation, its a mix, and not
a good one. It features my three favorite Prince tracks (Little Red
Corvette, I Would Die 4 U, Purple Rain), so I started here. But there are
some really great tracks I hadn't paid attention to on the radio: Cream,
Gett Off to name two. It's the really early stuff that drags this album
    down.
And just to restore your faith in this pop-loving jammer, I picked up LTE
at The Music Outlet in Enfield. I've only heard the first four tracks, but
so far it's great. I was expecting a musical wank-fest, which would have
been disappointing. But the second track is really cool- mellow. I guess
the wanking will come after track 8. I'll be ready then. :)

Stodgers is all cinema-ed out for today!
(but will be going to see The Opposite of Sex tomorrow)

While at the OzzFest today, I noticed an interesting phenomenon. Sound
quality was absofrigginhorrible where I was standing. The couple next to
me, Tool fans, decide Ozzy doesn't do it for them, and leave. I move over
five feet into their position. HUGE difference. I could hear the guitar
part; the drums weren't so overpowering. Still not *good* quality by any
means, but substantially better. Acoustics is wary interesting creatures
(to paraphrase my ex-calculus T.A., Igor).

Regardless, Ozzy needs to fire his sound engineers.

Also, I've liked what I heard of Tool's studio albums...but live, they
plain suck. I've seen lichen put on more interesting stage-shows. Nobody
moved around (aside from taking their shirts off) and most of the band just
looked at their feet. Everything sounded *exactly* like the album version
(on bad speakers -- damn those soundmen). Boooooring. I actually walked
out on the band, an honor only Pantera'd (bleh) earned before...

But it fits a pattern. At both OzzFests, this year and last, I've enjoyed
the fourth-to-last band (liked nothing before them) mostly for
entertainment's sake (Fear Factory / Limp Bizkit), liked the third-to-last
band (Type O Negative / Megadeth), walked out on the second-to-last band
(Pantera / Tool), and ran back in for the headliner (Ozzy+Black Sabbath /
Ozzy). I must be a serial concert attender.

    To Everyone, all DT followers

With the greatest game on earth coming to climax this Sat/Sun,
who is going to be the champion of the world? Well I think Brazil with
the score of 2-1. France have played some good football and thats the
team most people prefer, but realisticly Brazil have the power and speed.
Hopefully we do not witness a "hand of god" or a "drug related problem",
but who cares, soccer would not be soccer with such dilemas.

This is game is closer to any rock star and any band. All you have to do
is look at in-sleaves of cd covers, posters and bootleg videos, to notice
that it's in the hearts of most rockers. Soccer, the passion.

It's a good album...Not great as the first ones and the last ones
(BTW,his Concerto For Electric Guitar And Orchestra is the most wonderful
thing I've heard),but a good album...The vocals on this album by Goran Edman
are not very good, but some songs are really great, like "How Many Miles To
    Babylon","No Mercy" and the instrumentals...

    >Seventh Sign

Better than Fire & Ice...A much better vocalist (Mike Vescera is great)
and some of my favorite Yngwie songs - "Never Die","Seventh Sign","Crash And
    Burn",etc...

    >Face the Animal (didn't somebody say this was his best in a long time?).

Facing The Animal...IMO his best album since "Marching
Out"...Great,wonderful almost perfect...The vocalist, Mats Leven is Yngwie's
best vocalist after Jeff Scott Soto (one of the best vocals ever)...Cozy
Powell is destroying the drums...And Yngwie is playing better than ever
before...The only problem is that there is only one instrumental, and it's
very short (but very beautiful too)...

    Mr. KorgX3,
I really think you should be thrown off the fucking list the way you
feel the need to cuss people out like that. You've made your opinion
known, now shut the Hell up. This is the very first time I've read a
Korg post and not said "you know what? He's pretty cool". Maybe I just
wasn't paying attention, but you just blew it. We're trying to be nice,
civilized human beings, yet it's people like you who create all the
rumors out there about the Ytsejam being filled with snobs. I feel like
all of us on the jam are family, and as such we have every right to
disagree, but being that much of an asshole is just unexcuseable. Now I
suspect you'll start talking about my mom and sister, etc. Why? Just go
lurking for a while until you can act like an adult.
God, I'm 17 and way above your mental capacity. Personally, I don't
argue either way because I agree sports don't belong here, even though I
feel it unites the jammers in yet another way, and makes us closer.
Maybe you don't want that. Also, the jam is the only way I hear about
half of the games out there. Your comments are enough to make me support
World Cup on here. When you talk like that people don't say "'ya know
what, he's right". they just say "What a dick."
And La Crosse? It's my favorite sport, and I don't play any sports at
all. I don't care at all for most sports. But personally I'd love it if
someone would post La Crosse on here, maybe just to piss you off.

    Hi there,

sorry for this NOT-DT-related subject, but as I know that there've been some
discussions about Van Halen I suppose that this is perhaps interesting for you:

They're gonna show a recording of VH's show from the german open-air
    festival "Rock im Park" (1998):

    Tuesday: 21st of july, Bayerischer Rundfunk, 24.00 - 0.45

    Perhaps somebody's interested ...

    Bye

    Markus

You know, suddenly I noticed it: First Neil, then Cozy Powell, then Alex
Van-Halen, then Piert again, then Nick Menza... not a good year for
    drummers.

And on a different topic: I got DAFR, and I think I like it. As said
before, definitely not DT and not prog at all, but it's still Kevin, so
the talent didn't go away - it just transformed to something else... the
singing is not-so-good, but give him some time and he'll get better.
Although the title says: "Dead Air for Radios", I think this CD has a
lot of radio potential... maybe if Chromakey opened for DT they could
get some poblicity... and Kev should send "Color Blind" to the radio.

    That's all, folks
