You know what, all this time reading the jams and I get the idea
that it seems hard to get bootlegs in the US. Is that true? Here in Brazil
(specifically, in Sao Paulo -- Galeria do Rock), it's very easy to get
your hands on bootlegs.
The problem, on the other hand, is the price. Some bootlegs may
cost up to $30 a disc (and some 2CD sets are sold by $70). Really
expensive, but if you want to buy, there's plenty of them.

Well, "A Pleasant Shade of Gray" isn't exactly only one song. But that's not what I want to discuss.
The point is: Metal Blade, a small label? Well, have you ever heard about Cuneiform Records, Musea, Syn-Phonic, the old record label run by Euronymous of Mayhem? These are small labels.
BTW, talking about labels, Lars Ulrich seems to have a record label now. Any words on that?

Humm... You're forgetting about a whole underground out there, whose bands strive to even be able to record some demos and such. There's a lot of bands like this. There's so much life in the underground, of bands selling nothing more than 1000 copies of their CDs and even less.
Some of these bands will of course, sell out at the slightest chance that they have, but the rest will remain loyal to their principles and such. I'm talking about the Death/Black Metal scene.

I believe Mike Portnoy confirmed the fact that it is indeed Charlie. I mean, he sent a promo pic of "Majesty" for a fans website, who else would have that. And didn't charlie drop in on the LTE chat? But anyways, it is always good to check before sending anybody money!

NOT ONLY do we get the new DT, new Rush live... and new KX studio and that Fates thingy too... and the KX/GC tour...
...but those of you who read high fantasy fiction are also likely anticipating the following in October: "The Path of Daggers" by Robert Jordan, book 8 of The Wheel Of Time (easily the most ambitious, all-encompassing fantasy series ever attempted), as well as "The Rivan Codex" by David Eddings, writer of steadfast Durnik, from whom I take my internet name.
Basically I'll be sure to have around $100 to spare that month. :) Looks like I may need every cent!!! Take care all.

ok, kinda exciting being in wanna of these high profile mini debate, but heres my explanation he posted that on the message boards, and it isn't the first time he has posted to them. as long as i've been reading the boards (an aol feature, that's why this is new to you), this xdtvoc1 has never been regarded as a fraud, so i always assumed that it was him, afterall, why shouldn't i? all these more experienced people trust in him so i just added him to my buddy list, and besides being excited about talking to him, i never gave it another thot. as that moo guy said (sorry, i failed to look at your name, just remember your sig), we have no doubt it's him, i know this email is a horrid attempt in expressing that, but trust us AOL jammers (since we got the message boards) we know it's him. however i didn't fail to notice moo man's address wasn't aol, at least not his jam one. soo....

I can confirm the authenticity of Charlie Dominici, his e-mail address, and his offer for videos. I spoke with him voice about this a number of times, and he was gonna have me help out with the project, but it looks like he decided to go it alone just to keep things simple. I imagine these will be some good vids... and this is one of the only ways you'll ever get KevMo's autograph, so you may want to jump on this.
He said he was doing it as a side project to earn a couple bucks extra just to save for the family. I see no problem with that.

It's a vicious amp. What makes the cabinet sound good, though, is the 90
watt Celestions.
The Cabinet I tested, at least, had 4 x Vintage 30W Celestions seated inside, and the average volume of the enclosure is somewhat bigger. (It reacts different to low frequencies)

Uhh, WRONG. Let me assure you that my Marshall JMP-1 feeds 220+ volts to
the tubes, and uses them for overdrive. At least, according to Marshall...
Well, that's not what I've heard from a technician that used to modify the MP-1, claiming the distortion came from solid-state sircuits...and that you can actually pull those two tubes out, and still get sound from the amp. (This, I didn't dare testing myself...)
The ADA MP-1 was guilty of not being high voltage, and you could use solid state distortion...
and > that it's a much smaller amount of voltage fed to them. Another preamp
> that claims to use high voltage on the tubes is Rocktron's > Piranha, and > that thing sure sounds like it burns...
That does sound pretty good. The Triaxis sounds great - it'll do just about any Boogie amp - but it really only sounds good with a 2:90 power amp. Boogie will even tell you they're voiced to work with each other...
If you don't need the midi programmability, I'd say get the Recto. Of course. :)

Hmm..I'm in San Francisco but I used to go search for cool record stores in NYC. There are some good stores like OTHER MUSIC (in the Soho area). I don't remember the address but it's just the other side of the street from the big Tower records (video/music/book/outlet) in Soho near NYU. You can search from the yellow pages. And the other store is in the hippies area (like Haight St. in SF). It's about 4 blocks from Tower Records.
Other Music has a lot of prog/hard to find and import stuff.
Have a good one, AE
