you havent had the benefit of seeing charlie's posts on the boards on aol, so
that's probably a big reason why you said that, matt
but charlie is still enthusiastic, not at all bitter, about dream theater, and
lends in a hand on answering any questions that he can tackle. i talked to
him private once, and he was really energetic and pleased to talk to a fan.
he knows he's out of dt and doesn't try to impress people by the fact that he
used to be in it, i just think he's doing this video cuz it's stuff we never
seen before, and he knows we'd all love to see it

(dont worry, i'm sure as i get more experienced my posts will become
    coherent, just be patient...)

Well, I do know that there are some converters (one of them called
    Ra2Wav, that runs under Windows).

But please, please, please, forget about real audio. Stick to MP3.

Damn man, remember the old saying, "a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step"!? Do your own part by going out and buying the disc yourself this October! Look at what a surprise hit LTE became, simply because we all took a few steps out of our way to buy the thing. This is just like all those people trying to get us to email eMpTyV all the time with requests, and come to think of it its exactly the same as D-Man's quite comical idea of how to scam record stores. Pick up a Spice Girls disc while you're there!? ;-)

Glad to see that KevMo's getting some press, but just so you know this is the exact same review of the Chromakey concept that appears on his official web-site, word for word.

The easiest way to change the sound of your amp, is to change the speakers. There are a few things that could happen when you switch from the stock fender 100 watt speakers to the 30 watt celestion. You might very well get more crunch, but you have to be careful. 100 watt speakers are designed to handle 100 watts. Most likely, the stock speakers in your Fender are designed to handle a 100 watt load. Depending on how your Fender is wired, you most likely have the ability to handle around 200 watts of peak power. If you swap in 30 watt celestions, you will end up driving speakers with 100+ watts of amp power, when the speakers were designed to handle 60+ watts.......

Although I have never played with the Celestions in the stack I had, They do offer a fairly crunchy sound. If you would like to swap in a pair of Celestions into your twin, make sure that you have done a bit of research with Amp impedance (speaker resistance) and how wiring 4, 8 and 16 ohm speakers can give you the desired ohm rating. This will prevent you from blowing either your amp, your speakers, or the nearest human being's head off with a saw-off!

As far as the technical aspects of this, what kind of wiring curcuits to use and speaker impedance....I am fairly confident that there are some on this list that could help out...I used to remember this stuff, but the last time I wired something, it was the radio in my dead Mustang....and I had a fire that killed my passive EQ as a result.....

Uhh, better check your info, dude. I had a pretty nice chat with Jon Oliva a few weeks back, and he told me of many things - a new TSO album, a TSO tour in the fall, the fact that he's been getting into heavier stuff lately - so the next 'Tage album might be a bit heavier, and that they were moving the European tour around because of the TSO recording schedule. He DID NOT mention ANYTHING about a live album. It's possible it's one of the ones that already exists...

"Carol of the Bells", you mean? :) A melody that sends shivers down my spine...

As far as I know, this tour is happening, but I don't think that date's confirmed yet. I'll ask what's up...

BTW, since there seem to be a lot of people on this list that have been to Jaxx - and go look at the page, how about supporting some of the LOCAL bands? Just a thought. :) If you'd like to know what anyone sounds like, drop me an email - I certainly know what kind of stuff they do!

So, there have been questions surrounding how Fates Warning will be able to pull off a double disc live release. Well, for one thing, there are no casual fans. Either you love them, or you've never heard them before. My suggestion is to release the two discs at a one disc price. It will be an excellent/inexpensive introduction for anyone wondering "What should I get to get into Fates Warning?". Plus, it will be cheaper for Fates fans to give away as presents. I think the whole idea of making it two instead of one is to include a "Greatest Hits Live" disc with a live cd of APSoG so there will be a new demand for their back catalog. I wish they would have thought of that when they released the APSoG video. Anyway, just some ideas/thoughts.

    Later, Kevin.

PS-I hope they put it in a slim-line double case :) (I'm not posting to the jam anymore about cd cases when I'm intoxicated! Good. I'm planning on getting one, if it isn't too expensive. It seems pretty cool. ^_^ Can't wait to see Beach Bum Kevin(tm), Jeans 'n Suit Jacket JohnP(tm), Hand-Vein-Poppin' Action JohnM(tm), and Hot-Stix-Rule-Dood Mikey(tm) having fun with Charlie. ^_^ (sorry, memories of that back-cover pic from WDADU haunt me to this day!)

Actually, on "Fireworks" there're 4 songs ("lisbon", "gentle change", "rainy nights" and "wings of reality") recorded with an orchestra consisting of 28 muscisians. These tracks were recorded in "Abbey Road #2", legendary Beatles studios.
