    Hi,

Just got round to downloading the Platypus song - and it's
excellent (except that the start just got me singing that Metallica song
off Load...). I have a concern though... I guess Kings X are bigger
than DT, bigger fan base etc... what happens if Platypus does really
well and the chance of another offering/tour comes along. Where does
that leave DT, I mean - you wouldn't blame JM and DS for being tempted
by some bigger money, I know when I was in a band (desperate to make it
and never quite achieving it) I would have given a great deal of thought
to a better offer. That's not to say that DT aren't getting places but
    they're not exactly huge.

            hmmmm....

Dave (a UK jammer - now in Alabama).

Dilemma "Mainfesto for Futurism" after it's released. He's all over the
    place on this CD!

On last night's rather sad episode of the Ytsejam,
    KorgX3 shed a tear over:

    >Standing Alone, Tyketto

    DAMNIT!DAMNIT!DAMNIT!How could I forget that?
One of the few ballads I REALLY like.
Actually, I like the whole album. Pity Danny Vaughn left, though. The first
    two albums
were great, but the third really sucked (IMO).
Anyway, one more sad song coming up: Visions by Living Colour
Uh, make that two: I believe in you by Y&T
    And one more weird song:
Humans Being by Van Halen (weird vocals!!!)
Also make that two: The Phone-call by Joe Satriani (ditto)

    FiveNgroK

    CP: Fates Warning - Parallels
NU: Tyketto - Don't Come Easy (LOOOOOOOOONG time no hear !!!)

    Greetings all!

Picked up my copy of AOI yesterday. After listening to it 4 times
through now, I've got a few brief comments; more will come later.

First off, it's hard not to compare the album to LTE given the same
record company, same type of idea. I like Impact 1 and 3 the best
so far. Bret Douglas on track 1, well isn't my idea of the best
vocalist in the world. I'll agree that James or Matt should've had
this one. But the musical ideas on Impact 1 are well executed. Same
    with track 3.

With the rest, here's where I compare it to LTE. The songs on LTE
are just more melodic and flowing to me. That's what comes from
creativity and inspiration. AOI sounds very similar throughout, I
realize they repeat some themes, but LTE has a different "groove" for
each track. So where some are commenting that AOI is more cohesive,
I would argue that cohesive translates (to me) as a little stilted.

Next up: CDs for sale. Please note that prices include shipping in
the continental 48 states, and that the CDs are in excellent condition.

    Gee..
But tell me if this is sick or not: I get so damn HAPPY listening to Type O.
I mean, I got home from a long tiring day at work, and what I wanted to listen
to to get me relaxed, was "Love you to death." I had a huge grin on my face!

it'd be kind of hard to remember your lines (even "ahhhh!!" can be hard to

    Supwitchall--
I haven't read every single sad song post so forgive me if any of this has
been discussed before. As for Savatage's Believe, I find that song to be
quite positive. Now, it would definitely be up near the top of any "most
*emotional* songs" list, but I find it to be more uplifting than
depressing. I'm sure I could come up with a hella huge list of sad songs,
but the two that come to mind instantly are Metallica's Fade To Black and
Orion. What can be said about Fade to Black? Simply the ultimate sad
song. And Orion makes me think about Cliff :(
As for the upcoming DT live 2CD, I'm more excited than anyone and will be
first in line, no doubt. But, I have to agree with those who've said that
Once in a Livetime is a really weak title. I mean, when I read that I
thought it was some sort of joke. Very very lame, IMO; maybe between now
and October they'll think of a decent title.

I ran into a problem tho. Neither, CDNow, CDConnection, CDUniverse, or
MusicBlvd carry his cd's. CDNow did have some instructional video of his,

that you folks know of that carry Saraceno titles. Thanx for any info you

    Hello,

    >Anyway, someone recently tried to sell me on a band called October
    Project.

Picture Annie Lennox's vocals combined with the music of Enya or Pat
Metheny's Secret Story. The songs are typically sedate and mellow and they
are psuedo-new age. I saw them live, but the albums sound electronic in the
instrumentation. I recommend their first CD. Their second is less
interesting, though I've only heard it a couple of times.
As for our friendly Cow God's idea of sitting through two hours of special
effects, I put this to you: how many times can you see New York destroyed
and not get jaded? With ID4, Godzilla, Armageddon, Daylight and other dreck
dominating the screens with repetitive destruction, truly great movies
don't even get a chance in the cineplexes. So far, two of the best movies I
saw this year never made it to the five cineplexes in my area (the flicks
were The Spanish Prisoner and Last Days of Disco, btw). I had to drive an
hour to my "local" art-house just to see them. I decry effects-laden
pictures because of their lack of orignality and the self-importance of
their dialogue. All these movies struggle to have some higher moral purpose
and NEVER succeed in this endeavor.
On the flip side of this, I have to admit that one "effects" movie did
satisfy me this year: Deep Impact. It was about the characters involved,
and not about the asteroid, unlike Armageddon. But the two best
character-study movies I saw this year were both originally written by
Elmore Leonard. Ten points to the jammer who can name them.
The true test of any movie: when you're walking out of the theater, is
your first thought to nitpick on something, anything in the film? If so, it
was not a good film. Though it may have diverted you for two hours, you did
not see a good movie. I found myself walking out of Armageddon angry that I
had spent the time in the theater, even when I hadn't paid for it!
And finally: yes, Braveheart was incredibly historically inaccurate. I'm a
history major specializing in the English Constitutional era; this is the
only place that major is remotely useful, though I won't pretend to be an
expert. BUT, listen to the opening of the movie, for it tells you that what
you are to hear is a LEGEND. The filmmakers were not trying to make a
biography, they were striving for historical fiction. And who gives a shit
how accurate the facts are: its still one of my ten favorites regardless.

Stodgers spent more time in college watching
movies than reading his history books...

The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun (GREAT one to acronym!!)
i wasn't gonna add to this, but i would like to second this (for the purpose
of having no originality) when the keyboard part comes in at about 1:15,
damn, i love that, and the mood work from myung??? i'm not so good with
determing instruments... but i really love this part, it stirs me up, for lack
of a better term, PLUS the with all the hormones already goin, it is quite the
    emotional experience

and since this has no sense of finality thus far, i suppose i should add some

I Am Waiting by Yes off of Talk (i heard some of you didn't like this??)
goddamn, THAT is the epitomy of emotion, also Endless Dream, a nice 15-16
minute song, probably my album favorite

and Van Halen has some moving ones off of VH III, namely:
    ]From Afar, kinda angry/heavy,
    Once, VERY beautiful
Josaphena, who cares if i spelled it wrong, bordering on sad, but great
Year to the Day, possibly my fave off the album , heavy (in the intrumental
    sense) sadness
and How Many Say I, rivaling Once for most beautiful song

god i cant take this, (scurries off to room to indulge in aforementioned
songs, and yet somehow manages to type the following:)

Thanks for reading , in case any of you did!

Be careful, Richard. I tried to trade with someone in the Netherlands a

listened to the CD-Rs that were inside, and threatened him with fines
