Call me nit-picky, but how would any of us know whether Braveheart's
war scenes were truly realistic or not? Sure, it *seemed* realistic,
but since none of us were there, and I haven't heard about any
jammers being experts on that era (and even experts can be wrong due
to inconsistancies in historical record, etc), we just don't know. For all
we know, there could have been several anachronisms. It was much
easier to make SPR's war scenes correct because many of the actual
combat veterans are still around, and there still exists film footage.

The tablatures on UACM aren't done by one person, but by well
over 30-40 Ytsejammers. If you think you can do better, send
me your tabs and I'll put them in UACM's tablatures section. :)

Actually, the official site is run by a Dutchy :)

The DT/ELP/DP tour is the last leg of the current tour. Didn't
you go to the Waldrock festival or the fanclub concert ?

The old official website is gone. They took it down, a week
after Mike Portnoy announced UACM as Dream Theater's new
official website.

It's played by the keyboardist of Serenity. Check out their
website at http://www.icon.hu/~serenity/ for more information.

For those who haven't read it on UACM yet, there's talk
of a second "Liquid Tension Experiment" album. :)

Hello jammers,
I know this was discussed before, but I didn't pay much attention
then, sorry.
I have a wonderful set of Dream Theater mp3's that I want to record
on CD, so obviously I have to decompress mp3 to wav.
I had some very disappointing results with Winamp decoder, the quality
just drops when I convert to wav.
Is there any other software that does the job more professionally?
The response will be greatly aprecciated..
Cheers,
Matej

Well, i downloaded the sample, and honestly i feel frustrated because i honestly cant say wether if its DT or not!! ): Theres some stuff that DOEs sound dtish..but some keyboard sounds throw me off ( moorish samples ) and the guitar/drum sound is not their signature Fii/Lte (possible permanent) sound, even thou of course its a demo recording.. Darn!! heh this sucks..its frustrating... anyways.. even if its not dt THAT CLIP IS SICK!!

No, if you go back and read my review again you will notice that I refer to another, earlier cd called "Upon Deaf Ears." I like Building Rome better. The musicianship is not DT-style wank/prog (I like that - don't get me wrong) but more like...I am not sure. Kinda progressive (time changes) and obviously talented - but not Watchtower-y or anything. I think there are soundclips at the Dominion records site. Maybe at the Noise site, too. (they are on Noise for Europe, and Dominion for the US)

Yes, there is. Try Fraunhofer Institute's l3dec. I should do the work in the best way possible, I think, but this may be old news (and if there are even better ways, I'd like to know :-) ).

Anyone who doesnt understand, WHAT is going on on that masterpiece of instrumental music these century has delivered us with, should not give comments on it. I am glad to have had the opportunity to tell the musicians (except for tony sticky levin) what that album really means to me in my development as a musician and for my "creative education".

also, i finally got my Bahr SoC 2cd. the 6+ month wait will be my last...unless he puts out something extremely rare or cool. two broken single cd jewel cases, crumpled/uncut liners. $40 should pay for better service (and delivery time) than that... i know the excuses, so don't bother explaining again.

nah, the intro is not arpeggios all. i think ignasis transcription of it, though not really complete (some notes missing) comes really close to what the original sounds like and is not too hard to play. just do it as jp always tells you (and all other teachers). start it slowly using your metronome and build up speed step by step, two weeks half an hour practice and a lot of stretching should bring you where you want to get.
paradigm is really one of the hell fastest pieces of music, but not too complicated, as a lot of chromatical stuff is in there (this is clear, where else should you put so many notes into so little space, unless using chromatics... ;) ) still there is a lot of ultimate fast guitar playing o earth, just take paul gilbert (on his videos and with racer x, where he and bruce bouillet did mind boggling, make guitarist sick licks in harmony voicings) who really abuses his talents with mr-big (need more ca$h?????), or paco de lucia, one of the very best guitarists of the universe (who really has his own style, since nobody is ABLE to copy him....). Or even think of Django Reinhardt, who played stuff with only two fingers, where ten would not be enough for me.
But all speed in high spheres. What really makes a musician is that he can USE his technical abilities and CREATIVITY to CREATE something, which then is called music, which doesnt mean it always has to express emotions (sorry if you did not have any listening to lte, i really had to care for my p#+*s to stay in my pants.... ;) ) or feelings. even better if it does. it can just be for fun, as well (or money...... :( )
to come to an end, PLEASE lets all piss on mikes dogs till he ensures us to record another lte.
