'Dreamworld', I believe, is the group/band/artist/project/whatever that
someone posted about here just recently as being a 'classical/prog
thing'. I downloaded the sound clips - great stuff, simple yet very
haunting, emotional stuff. I'll be checking this one out indeed.

Well, I wasn't planning on it... I never interfere with the sales and
auctions of other people on the net of stuff they own... but since you
decided to be such a fucking dick about it in your post, I think I
will... and I'll also clear up a few things.

Fortunately, you wouldn't have to wait even half that long to get them
from ME, at ten dollars LESS. Plus they'd be PAINTED. So there. Unless
the name of the discs one has ordered abbreviate to VS, E2E, or SOC,
then all shipments are either done, or within a week of receipt of the
order. I have three, count 'em, three backlogs left. And one will die
inside of a week or two if I can manage it. All other stuff is making it
out VERY quickly at this point, as the flood of people who ordered
Darkness and Light will soon attest, since the first shipments went out
two days after the first cheques were received. :)

You don't have to send cash through the mail,
    > AND I send the discs insured and registered, so you don't have to have

Since when have I ever insisted on cash? Since never is the answer. And
as to the insult to me about "screwing" people, you know better than
that. If I did nothing but screw people, I wouldn't be in my fourth year
of making discs. There's a lot of profanities I'd like to type at you
right now, but it'd be bad form.

    > As for a reference, my name's Andrew Forcier - commonly known as Buck
    > Stodgers. Ask around. People know me.

Commonly known as a pain in the ass who decided to mail me constantly
until he got his shit... even though I'm physically CERTAIN (based on my
records) I sent the stuff more than once... maybe that's why he has no
qualms about parting with it now. Enjoy your extra copies, guy... you
taught me a valuable lesson: people are out to screw each other, so I
should certify all re-sends. Ever since you, I've taken precautions.

For everyone else... no, this isn't going to turn into a big
argumentative post, or an advertisement either. Y'all know where to find
me, so I'll leave it at that. No problems have come up lately, just
constant shipments. And I want to thank everyone for the recent respite
in e-mail quantity... I'm guessing it has less to do with a unilateral
decision to let up on me and more to do with the fact that stuff is
being received in short order and thus most folks have nothing to
complain about, and their e-mails have only questions and info requests.

I think he has 420 in his name because I have one of his drumsticks that I caught at the Chicago HoB concert in November, and it says Promark 420 on it. Plus, he's a drummer too...heheh.

Because the myth that doing drugs is actually necessary to create good music is truly a myth. If you sound like shit when you're clean, you're gonna sound as bad, or worse high. You may sound better to yourself... but that's a drug induced fantasy. :)

Should people extend courtesy to YOU so that you can make more money, or to the fans, so they can save more of their money? I'm afraid there is something here that I can't help but comment on. Of course, the above doesn't apply to me, because I don't make my own discs.

    > DT - Subconscious (CD-R) > - Acoustic Dreams (CD-R)

This is all I'm commenting on. If you're trying to sell CDRs of these two boots for $30 a piece, you're out of your fucking mind. The originals didn't cost this much, to my knowledge. Are you offering some artwork and packaging, or just the little home burnt disc? If these are special CDRs, that in some way have value beyond the usual asking price (no WAY more than $12) then you ought to include some detail about that. Hey... if you can dog Bahr, you can be dogged yourself. Not that I'm protecting Bahr (I have no love for his business) but you can't ask us for courtesy and then show none yourself. Ahh, to tell the truth, I'd have commented anyways, about the cdr thing. That's some heavy bullshit. I hope you do get the Ibanez. It's a decent axe!

    > and if you don't like these, then you bore me.

    No one has said that.

    > DeGarmo has been on > drugs, as any QR fan knows, yet he's done some marvelous work.

But are you attributing the work to the drugs or to the musician?

    > Even Charlie Parker got SEVERLY pissed when he would see them follow > what he did, using drugs. All I'm saying is don't put down someone for > using them when they are still writing and performing some great music.

I think that most of the people are seperating the two. What pissed me, and many other jammers off about DeGarmo and his pot, was the magazine article in which he attributed a song to drug abuse. When you glorify that bullshit you're setting an example I don't want to see, so I will dog it, really heavily. I think that Pantera wearing pot leaves on their shirts is a nightmare. Only made the scene infinitely worse. I think it's not cool to preach the merits of the abuse, because I do not believe that drug abuse is necessary or helpful to create great music. If you need it to chill out, then you have a problem. It's not supposed to be something you need in order to create.

Now I've never played on scalloped frets, but after reading an interview with Malmsteem and McLaughlin, i carefuly analyzed my playing and realized that my fingers and the strings dont touch the wood (the flesh of the fingers does a bit). With this in mind I realized how little pressure i had to apply. So I still dont see what the purpose of scalloped frets is, because you can get the same results with a little careful analyzing...unless of course you want to do those insane bends McLaughlin does on Shakti.

And speaking of fried potatoes, i just saw a french guitar magazine with Ron Thal on the cover. Is that guy that well known over there? It also had a lesson with Kiko Loureiro. Now I've known for a long time that the only worthwhile guitar mag in this continent is Guitar Player, but cant they cover the players that *I* like? Any journalist students here want to start a new guitar magazine? I'll be assistant editor :)

Disc-lamer: This post was highly amusing to me for several reasons, but I'm hung over as hell and can only deal with the _most_ assinine part at the present moment.

What's this "so-called fans" thing? You're selling boots. You're charging $30 (!!!) per disc. First of all, real fans _trade_ for their live material, regardless of media type. No profit involved except for the enjoyment you get from hearing your favorite music live and meeting other people in the trading community (not to mention you don't have to pay that ripoff price). Even if you don't have anything to trade there are several ways to start a collection; everyone started with nothing at some point. I bought CD boots before I knew better, and maybe you're in the same boat, but insulting people that make their own discs instead of buying boots from 100% for profit companies/individuals is really ludicrous.

So, I'm not gonna tell people how to buy CD-Rs from me. I'm gonna tell 'em to get in contact with me or someone else who has all that stuff you're selling on cassette/dat/cdr and TRADE for it - like _real_ fans.

Speaking of CD boots, I still have yet to see the 8 discs that Mike Bahr owes me; you know, my discs that seem to spark BahrWars every few months? :) I wanted to get 3 of those (Virtual Songs) for my brother's 17th birthday, and ordered them about 4 months before it. A few weeks ago my brother turned _18_. After starting the most recent war over this (sorry about that) Bahr emailed me (finally), apologized profusely (again), and said he'd get them out "right away." That was well over six weeks ago now and he doesn't reply to my emails (yet again). That's yet another benefit of trading for boots. You don't have to deal with thieves and liars like Mike Bahr. You may occasionally get stiffed on a trade, but at least you don't lose $150 in the process.

Now I'm going to pack something to take care of this headache and go back to sleep. :) Take care all...

After 15 years of trading, I have found out recently that trading can also leave a sour taste in one's mouth, but that goes with the territory..... I have been waiting since September last year for one trade to be forfilled but as they say, 'once biten twice shy'.... More recently, I set up a tape trade, but I sent him CDR's instead, but haven't received anything... If anyone wants to know the names of these guys, please email me :)

Surely this can't be true ?? Mike after all the promises you made you are still pulling this kind of crap ?

Moral of the story, don't send Mike Bahr any money, deal with with real pro's like Open All Night Records & Bogie who reply to email and take a couple of weeks to send you CD's

Blind Guardian - 'Night Falls On Middle Earth' Yes this is gonna be a big one, epic power metal with hints of folk music ! Even poeple who were not fans of BG, will dig this, the vocals are certainly more melidoc and the music is emmense epic arrangements. The album has 22 tracks, with a number of short peices. Very impressive 9.5/10

Kamelot - 'Siege Perilous' Former Conception singer (Roy) Khan has resurfaced with Kamelot and stamped his great voice all over this. Lots of great riffing, keyboards a plenty and great songs. Perhaps not in the class of Conception just yet, but pretty close. 8/10
