I'm laughing, I thought that was the best post for a while. Why do
people take things so seriously? I thought the pot thread was
interesting - I don't want to get too involved but I bet everyone here

As a longtime fan of Savatage, I must say that their work with Jon Oliva
and now deceased guitarist Chris Oliva is better than their latest
efforts. I like "Handful of Rain," and "Wake of Magellan quite a bit, but
nothing compares to the guitar work and orchestration of "Streets" and
    "Gutter Ballet."

Fans of guitar virtuoso's will be left absoluetly speechless upon hearing
Chris Oliva play leads for the first time. Listen to "Tempation
Revelation" or "Gutter Ballet" sometime and let me know what you think
about these tracks compared to their latest work. Chris Oliva has to be
one of the most talented guitarists ever to pick up the instrument.

Well as this year's playoffs so far have indicated, anything is possible
    in the NHL.

    Go Caps!

Anyway, Mike Bahr has no business mentioning any other boot businesses

After noticing Kevin Madden's record of the day I had to immediately go to CDNow and look at the Flotsam and Jetsam list. (I wasn't aware that Flotsam and Jetsam had released a new album!) There were several import albums that I just had to ask about since I have never seen or heard of them from Flotsam (I've been a fan Since Doomsday) Is 'Little Betty Bouncer and Others" actually an album by the Metal Band Flotsam and Jetsam or is there some foreign band with the same name that I am not yet aware of? There are also two albums S/T and S/T-V.2 on that same import list that I've not heard of. Please respond to me offline.

    thanks, Jim

I think I like the Spice Girls/Metallica NDTC rather than this stupid boot topic again. Everyone has their opinion, just like and opinion for capital punishment or abortion.

It doesn't matter, everyone is right in their own mind, it's just the same shit over and over again. Yea, I had to wait a long time for my Bahr stuff. He even sent me an extra disc, and I e-mailed him THREE Times to see if he wanted me to send it back, and he has yet to reply. If a dude can't respond to e-mails, I think I'm going to have to find a new place for my "Collecible boots" I know a lot of people that get a lot of e-mails that have real jobs, and they have time to reply. With Mike Bahr, this IS his job that's all he does all day long, and you can't tell me that his volume of e-mail is so high that he can't even reply... especially when it's in his favor. Like I gotta tell anyone this anyways... So Mike, answer my e-mail, mmmkay? or I'll sell that "Precious Things" CD for $100 <Grin> (And I thought sending my check to the fan club was bad...which I got a fanzine, but no Xmas CD...anyone wanna make me a copy?)

So, in other words...I like Dream Theater, I'll pay money to get to hear cool new/different stuff (yea, it'd be neat if the band got a cut), I'm used to waiting, but I think I'm going to try other places, shit, I have CDR Drive, I can go into business too!

Jim S. remarked: > For those bleeding hearts who have already sent out buisness cards > you've been scammed. For those of you who are about to send out > buisness cards DON'T. In case anyone doesn't know this whole thing > is a sham. Little, terminally ill Craig has been seven for 4 consecutive > years now....

Well, some years ago it was true, but it hasn't been true for years. The problem here is that this story just won't die. The kid *was* ill, and he *did* want the most get-well cards in history, and he *did* get the most in history, and he's now well and going about his business.

The "terminal illness" got so much damn attention from the story's constant recirculation on the Internet and everywhere else that U.S. billionaire John Kluge paid for Craig to come to the U.S. and get expensive specialized treatment. Thus, he recovered completely from his (non-malignant) tumor.

Don't send any more cards. The hospital begs you. The family begs you. The post office begs you.

    Read the story at

http://www.heimbaugh.com/classic/craig.shergold/ . Read the note from Gene Spafford, explaining the whole thing. Then forget about it. It's over.

Simon, after reading Bafu's latest wiseass post, inquired: > Is this for real? Are you really saying "If you piss me off I'll get > my big brother on you"? > I havent heard that since I was 5-6 years old!

Poor Simon. You must not have been here long enough to find out unofficial rule #304 of the Ytsejam: Never, EVER take anything Bafu Vai says seriously. :)

A while back, during Bahr Wars II (or was it III? I forget), Mike Bahr made a disparaging, sarcastic remark about how he could have one of his relatives beat up on someone who was threatening him. People promptly jumped on this, and since then it seems to pop up whenever anyone's feeling feisty. Just nod and smile wisely, it seems to be the best course.

Just thought of something else. The Savatage show on June 14th at the Outer Edge in Marietta, GA should be relatively well-attended by Ytsejammers (I've spoken to three or four who expressed interest). Do we want to work up a gathering of sorts before or after the show? Let me know if you're interested.

nice piece of work there, Chuck.....but can you tell us who Really shot JFK?

about Scott Hansen: watching news yesterday on a Toledo, Ohio station, and apparently he got picked up by the FBI on suspicions of being a bank robber.....maybe he's trying to get ahold of Mike Bahr to arrange for bail money........

(obviously, it ain't the same guy, hope i haven't offended.....but it's always funny to see/hear a name you recognize in different circumstances.........)

about DT: got nothin to say today, maybe tomorrow

about Savatage: Rob, you got the sorta odd man out album in Handful of rain, in terms of that's the transitions between the Criss Oliva era and the post-Criss Cafferey/Pitrelli guitar era..... HoR is the only album that Alex Skolnick plays on, so there are certain differences there from any other 'tage effort.....

still and all, handful of rain has more in common with its follow-ups, Dead Winter Dead and The Wake of Magellan, than its predecessors.....going backwards, to edge of Thorns, to Streets, etc, there is an increasing influence of straight-up "metal" to savatage's music.....

and to he who said Jon Oliva is an inferior vocalist to Zachary Stevens..........it all depends on the day, it really does....

me, i just can't wait 'til Wednesday night, when the 'tage come to my town, Detroit Rock City, aka Hockeytown, where my Red WIngs will be fresh off their game one win, and getting ready for a game two triumph........

(how's that for a segue?) Hey Kevin Madden: Wings to win in 5 games....they gotta do it at home!

Look for something that starts with "www.cdnow.com"... if that doesn't work, I think you only have to wait two hours before CDNow "forgets" what account you logged in as.

I once really wanted a boot... so I went down to the store... and they had some nice boots... so I asked them which one was "limited edition", and they replied, "they all are!! designs change every year!" I was amazed, they were making limited editions every year!!! It was incredible. Not only did they have METAL boots, they had COUNTRY boots, and ADULT CONTEMPORARY BOOTS, ROCKNROLL boots, you name it, they had it. So I bought some... little did I know I could've went down the street to buy some copies that were cheaper, or even go to an outlet store, where they just basically got rid of their boots!! The funny thing was, after discovering how "limited" these boots were, I was appalled, they made thousands, if not, millions of them!! Sheesh!! So much for "collectability". Now if I can only to get them to throw in some extra shoelaces next time, that would make my "limited edition" boots so much better.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to post my thoughts about the two Open All Night CDs I just received in the mail. First of all, I'd like to say that, next to Ryan Whitaker, the guys at Open All Night have the best service of anybody selling/trading boots. Then again, these guys are in France (I'm in NYC), so I'd say Ryan and OAN are a dead heat for best service. Now to the actual merchandise. The first thing that grabbed me was the packaging. If these guys are doing this as a hobby, I'd love to see what they'd do if it was their full-time job! Excellent full-color glossy liners with nice pix and pix on the CDs themselves. Great job. But buying boots is all for the music, right? Well, as audience recordings go, these are among the best I've heard. I got both the Savatage "The Age of Discovery" and Dream Theater "Static Progress". Both sound great.

Since these two sets are "limited editions" (I got No. 7 for DT, No. 5 for 'Tage), you better act quick. These are must haves for the collections of any fans of these two bands. I look forward to getting more sets from Open All Night. You can't beat the quality nor the service (man, that sounded like a commercial!).

    Take care, Adam

Hey all, Just when I was going to get pissy, Bafu has to go and make things all funny again. Damn humor... Oh, and that brother of yours is no match for my cat Hooper. One meow and Joey is toast... I want to apologize to Eric Rodger and Swifty-san, as they have appeared to feel I was implicating them in my harangue. I had no intention of doing such, and if this was the case, I am sorry. On that note, I am selling Lords of Sound for $60, KAI is selling it for $50. Buy it from him, I owe him more than one.

Once was nowhere near enough for that little victual. Heheh... Use them CD-Rs as throwing stars fellas! Uho-oh, there's that courtesy word again... See my next post for more on that... And many thanks to Pat Sullivan to put courteously what I never could. Now on to more greenish pastures.
