What song would that be? Probably my favorite one: I Died for You. It's
one of the few ballads they've done. Everyone describes Iced Earth as
death metal, but don't be put off by that. They sound similar to
Savatage, so if you are a 'tage head, like I am, you might find
    something there you like. :)

Tempest is a celtic band and most jammers wouldn't get into their type
of music, I would bet. My favorite is Serrated Edge. It's got some
classic celtic set to a rock beat. It's Irish-type music, so expect jigs
and waltzes...not the usual power metal scene. They have a website:
          http://www.3wnet.com/tempest/index.html
You'll find a few clips there, so check them out before you buy.

Ok, I feel the need to correct Andy here because there has
been too much incorrect info going around about the 'Ryche
    lately.

DeGarmo did leave the band. He left early this year. The
band signed onto Virgin Records after EMI was disassembled
and finished '97 with them. Currently, Queensryche has not
tried to renegotiate their short term contract with Virgin
because they are considering going independent.

Lastly, DeGarmo did not write 90% of QR's material. I know
that 90% was probably an exaggeration on Andy's part, but let
me give you a list of some of the non-DeGarmo songs:

    Warning
    Roads to Madness
    I Dream in Infrared
    Screaming in Digital
    Revolution Calling
    Speak
    Spreading the Disease
    Empire

These are the cream of the crop of Wilton/Tate songs by QR.
True, DeGarmo wrote a lot of their songs, and his songs
dominated the last 2 albums, Promised Land and Hear in the
Now Frontier, but you have to admit that those albums
aren't really classic QR. While DeGarmo did write a lot
of QR songs, he also wrote most of the bad ones too (do
I dare to mention Get A Life?) If Wilton was the man behind
the songs I listed above, then I'm looking forward to
    DeGarmo's departure.

I'll take an album full of Empire's and Revolution Calling's
any day over one with Sign of the Times's and Anytime/
    Anywhere's.

    Ryche and roll,
    The Notorious B.O.G.

I agree, Bernd. James doesn't sing too high for me really, but I was put
off on Rush for years cos I can't handle that high falsetto crap. I must
be getting more used to it, though, cos I can listen to Concepton. Damn,
but there is a high voice! That's one of the things I like about bands
like Superior, Savatage, and Iced Earth. Real male voices. :)

    Hey everyone,

I just want to notify everyone here that if you go to

         http://web.mit.edu/bogie/

you can find Just Let Me Breathe as it was performed
by Dream Theater on December 13, 1997.

Also, for those of you who sent in orders in May, you
will be receiving a coupon redeemable for a free CD
from me. (But, if I do a 2 CD project next, you'll
only pay half price.) Basically, I'm doing this for
the people who haven't received their CDs yet who
should have received them a month ago. With finals
in May, and now because I'm waiting on the stupid
liners, the CDs have not gone out. They are all
burned and ready to go, so if you sent in an order and
would like me to send the CDs now and the liners
    later, let me know.

    Take care,
    Nick Bogovich

Is it just me, or is the mainstream right now more mainstream than
ever? I mean, i know that for a long time most of what was considered
'mainstream' was crap, but now it seems to be reaaally bad. For one,
its seems that the cd's that are selling the most now a days are
soundtracks. And everything sounds so washed down...as if what you
hear on the radio you could hear in an elevator the very next day.

Even last year, there was still a decent amount of musicians/bands
with respectable music in the mainstream...but now, even a lot of
those arent doing as well as they used to. Maybe it's just that may
tastes have gone way left of center, but i think the music industry
has *really* gone down the stinkhole now. Next thing you know we'll
have muzak on the top ten...

    *sigh*
    Ernesto

Good point. I'm pretty sure that no one on the 'jam would be willing to
part with their Lie single, but that doesn't mean nobody anywhere would
sell their copy. I received several offers for a Ween CD single that I
bought a few years ago, all offering cash and "much bootleggage." Having
never desired to own a Ween bootleg (or album, for that matter - I
understand that their wonder "12 Golden Country Greats" was a one shot
deal), I opted for the cash. I notified all of them that I was putting
it on eBay, and after the smoke cleared, some happy Ween fan will have
their CD, and I will have $51. All from a stupid CD single that I
    haven't listened to in years!

My point? Look around. There's bound to be somebody that has the Lie
single and is willing to sell it to you. The irony is that I bought the
Lie and Silent Man singles and the aforespoken "Push th' Little Daisies"
single on the same day in the same store, all for less than $26. Two are
priceless to me, and while the other one wasn't priceless to me, it is
going to be priceless to somebody else.

    Take care, all,
    Mark Peters

According to several people on the Savatage message board
(http://www.savatage.com/wwwboard) the Savatage European tour has been
cancelled / postponed because of an injury that Al Pitrelli has suffered.
:( sorry if this is old news).

Yeah, he played for Cindy Lauper... so he's definately prog. ;-)
I remember someone taping the album "Twitch" for me when I was 16
or so (I feel so old now). Didn't leave much of an impression but
it was ok, I guess... Melodic rock a la Boston...

      DT tomorrow!

I'm still kinda toying with the idea of it, but I only had one person email
me and tell me they had contributions to make. I would be more then happy
to invest the time in it, but I want to make a quality product, and that
means I'm gonna need a lot of people sending me pictures or JPGs. I had
also toyed with the idea of putting an MP3 setlist on there. So, if you're
interested in a Ytsejam Tourbook on CD, let me know. Like I said, one other
guy has emailed me about this and we have worked out some of the details.
If you're curious about what we had in mind, drop me a line, I'll fill you
    in.

    later,
    tk

ps. I still don't look like Geoff Tate.
