Right. And that is one of the things I've even pointed out myself, and
I can see--html written entirely graphic-specific is impossible for the
blind. Besides annoying practical surfers like me.

    I know...
I'm the idealist with everything related to trading and all that
stuff, and the pessimist about most other things... but hear me out.
I received 2 cds in the mail today from Scott Hansen (through
Ryan Whitaker)... cds of a bunch of DT rarities that I didn't really
expect to get, and that I would not have been able to get without a
lot of trading, usually through a lot of greedy people who would try
to tell me how the cds had appreciated from their original value. I
gotta say... fuck all that. I am sure that my original sentiment has
    been confirmed.
The Ytsejammers didn't always play money games with trades and
favors and everything. I know. I've been on and off the list since
the early Arastar days, and have been on both ends of trade deals
since around that time. I know I've given people autographed
stuff... I even gave one dude my DT Awake tour hat, which I had
signed by all the band. And that's not even a big deal. Some people
have sent out tons of tapes and cds and videos to fans and friends
for nothing but to just help people fill out their collection. Fuck
the money they could have made. I bet you none of them are whining
    over missed opportunities.
I'm not talking about the boot manufacturers on the list. I have
chosen not to support any that are making large profit margins on
their products (and that's mine to decide... notice I'm not telling
anyone what to do or who is or isn't okay to deal with. KTS can
surely suck my dick though. :) I'm talking about the people who
hoard up their DT stuff and sell it off for gold. I know that
through one group of friends or another, I could get my hands on any
DT material I needed. It should be that way for anyone on this list.
Bogie's new web site (in the works) will be a huge help for everyone
on this aspect... I can't wait until it's done.
I guess I just wanted to fire off what was on my mind about this
stuff. I am so sick of what trading DT material has become. It's a
shame that people put such a price on everything, and do shit like
auction off material. As soon as I get a cd burner, I'm going to
start dubbing boots for people in trade for a blank CDR
media. There's just no excuse anymore. Consider helping out new
fans instead of asking them to bend over Don't be a dick.

On that note... does anyone have Scott Hansen's new California
mailing address? He just won himself my promo copy of Twilight in
    Olympus.

I think that all blind people should keep remiding everyone else and
themselves that they are blind so that we can segregate them all, lock
them in a home, and watch them beat each other to death with their canes.
"In the center of the room, we see Matt B, swinging wildly at anything.
Lets sound a speaker in the roof and see if he--yes! He swings and again
he misses! Ah, but here comes Damon. Matt looks scared. Which side is
he on, Mattie B? Oh, the plastic eyes are flyin' everywhere! They're
locked in a death grip! They've ripped each others' ears off! Now
they're blind and deaf! Now the amputations start! And it's Damon who
wins! Left with one arm and his sword cane, bleeding to death as he beats
the fallen Matt's rotting corpse! That's two down! Time to shift over to
a new pare. Jeese o peese this is fun." and they all die and the sighted
people of the world can be free to do any graphical thing they want and
return guide dogs to their natural places as Doris Day's natural pets. No
more knee injuries by psychoticly swinging blinks! Oops, but watch those
eye problems. If they progress, you're goin' into the building of the
damned, too, and we'll watch you die.
OK, actually, blind people should rule the world and have all
sighted women as a herem. Screw the blind women, they can't do us any
favors like driving us places or anything like that. USE! USE!!!
USE!!!!!!!! That's the name of the game, people. And watch out to those
people who don't understand that. It's a beautiful day in the
    neighborhood! Be well, neighbors.

    Enough!

Here's the deal. Damon IS cool, but Damon IS out of his mind.

1). Damon is cool. He's a hell of a valuable member on this list,
and he's a nice guy, who would bend over backwards for you, if you
needed a hand. What he's requesting is reasonable to a point...
    however...

2). Damon is out of his mind. It's just simple bullshit for anyone
to expect someone NOT to go all out and use whatever they have in
mind in designing their web site or whatever. IF (that's in caps in
case your speech thingy doesn't add emphasis, Damon) Damon was
requesting people to stop using java, frames, DHTML, etc on web
pages, he'd be due a swift kick in the ass. He's not, though... he's
also not asking that we stop driving shiny red convertibles down the
NJ Turnpike just because he's not able to (not able to do very well,
anyways). But then of course, I did see Damon just hint that
graphical sites are a waste of bandwidth etc... and here I absolutely
have to put my foot down. Some sites can not be done correctly in a
manner in which the blind can use them. My site, if I ever finish
it, will probably be one such site... it's based on music lessons, in
the form of puctures of tablature. There's no tab program that would
allow me to put something on the web for blind guitarists, that
wouldn't just read "dashdashdashdash seven dashdashdashpipe" What
about sites dedicated to visual art? What about sites that offer
pictures of things that consumers want to see first, or that people
just want to see for the hell of it?
Yes. It would be cool to have the web set up in a way that would
allow everyone to have access to what they want. But it's not the
web master's inherent responsibility to do so. You can't expect
someone to rewrite their site so that a small demographic can view
it. You can request it, but you still have no reason to think that
the idea will ever be considered unless you're willing to help fix
    it.
I hope we are done with the Blindjam. Damon, if you want to
respond to this, my address is spelled exactly how it sounds
(someone@prognosis.com) I will not respond publicly to this
    obnoxious thread again.

Having listening to LTE since it came out I am now wanting more and more of
it. Unfortunately the chance for that for now is kinda slim. So I have a
request, what other cd's out there would fill this need for something
similar to LTE? Any reviews on the Rudess/Morgenstein Project? Any help
    would be great!

I have it. Edward is a musician and a huge Yes fan. This is a good book about prog and related styles.

There is another good prog book called "THE MUSIC'S ALL THAT MATTERS - A History of Progressive Rock" by Paul Stump from England. He wrote about progressive music from the beginning until now. I like the Refugees (Splendid Isolationists: Four Individuals) part that has Peter Hammill, Robert Fripp, Anthony Philip and Mike Oldfield.

There is another one coming out called "PROGRESSIVE ROCK FILES-BOOK + RARE PINK FLOYD CD. The description of this book is:

[The definitive guide to prog rock, covering everything from the history and the critical thrashing, to the complex development that this musical genre has gone through from its' 1967 beginnings to the present day. Includes a comprehensive A-Z listing of over 1,400 prog acts, each with a brief bio & discography. 312 pages in all. Also contains a rare bonus CD, 28 minutes long & featuring four rare tracks by Pink Floyd.]

I'm ordering it from the Aritst Shop. Oh....in case anyone is interested the Artist Shop is having some bargain cd's on their page at:

The London show was good. They played Speak To Me, The Way It Used To Be, an Elton John cover, and Jordan Rudess came back on to join them for one of the LTE tunes (can't remember which one).

Derek was with a beautiful blonde. I got a good long look at her after the show while he was signing autographs. Yummmyyyyy . . . .

John Myung hit a wrong note at one point. Everyone in the audience seemed to notice, but the band didn't.

James said some stuff at various stages, but I couldn't hear it. The sound in the front row was diabolical. The vocals and keyboards were completely inaudible.

Many thanks to Adrian and Chloe for providing me with some very comfortable floor space on Tuesday night . . .

i too like the LTE a lot. some ideas:

check out the Dixie Dregs, one of JP's strong influences. they are 70s prog fused with bits of southern rock, pop [short concise songs] and country. brilliant playing and songwriting by Steve Morse. all instrumental.

if you like the live improv vibe of LTE, check out Mahavishnu Orchestra, like their first 2 albums Inner Mounting Flame and Birds of Fire. these have the fast chaotic improv vibe that LTE has, balanced by quiet tunes like on LTE. the music is loud 70s jazz fusion, the bandleader John McLaughlin played guitar in Miles Davis' groundbreaking fusion bands in the late 60s. again all instrumental.

as for modern stuff, the Rudess-Morganstien Project is a little different, it's just the two of them and the music was carefully written before hand, not improv. check jordan's home page for samples.

you might also check out the Black Light Syndrome record, with Bozzio [drums], Levin, and Steve Stevens on guitar. i've only heard bits, it's mellower, but lots of people including tony levin think it's really cool.
