Just thought I'd try and ease your mind a bit Chris....not all of us are
like that. Some of us (and me personally) value our DT collections
for our own personal reasons and satisfaction, and have no interest
whatsoever in selling the stuff off. Hell I even have some rare stuff that I
don't bother telling anyone about because I don't want people making
crazy offers. But still, I do not make copies of all my stuff to give to my
friends....I guess to me it doesn't hold the same meaning if everyone
I know has the same recordings or pics or whatever. To me, a rare item
is something I consider a collectors piece, not something for mass
distribution.
peace out,

Very much agreed. Speaking only for myself (and being a
collector), I know that many of the things that *I* have - some worth
grand monetary value, some just personal value - will probably never be
sold. I like having a private archives, actually. Kind of makes what I
own a little more special.
So, any takers on a sealed Afterlife promo? :)

Nor should they have to be reminded of their differences from others. I see this all
to much, Being employeed in the feild of special ed. I see this all to much when
integrating severly disabled children into the community. Bottomline is, everyone
here is a person, and should first and foremost be treated in that manner. Im not
saying that anyone who doesnt make 2 versions of a www page should be bound and
gagged because that is what the internet is all about, im saying (not directed at
anyone here) in general in the world today, it seems that if you cant run the fastest
or jump the highest, you are almost put onto a back burner. Handicapped or not,
EVERYONE should ALWAYS be treated with respect.

Damon is a cool guy with loads of interesting posts to read. I wouldnt have known
Damon was blind until I saw him at a DT show unless he put that line about it in his
sig. file. Anyway, I guess the point I am trying to make is that IMO, I can't say
that I feel sorry for Damon because as far as I have seen on the jam, and at a few dt
shows that ive seen him at, he hasnt let his lack of sight overcome his will to enjoy
life, cudoos to that, I cant tell you how many people I have meet that have some sort
of disability and are bitter at the world.

Hello. I was sent an extra copy of Experience To Extremes, the two disc
Rush set from Prism records. I'm asking to see if anyone wants to trade
me Stream Of Consciousness (CD-Rs are fine) for it.
Also, much like my friend Buck Stodgers, I got a new-to-me guitar
recently. It's an Ibanez RG570, serial number F937721, and I'm having
trouble identifying the correct name of its funky color. It looks
pinkish purple until you hold it under lights, then it looks very blue.
Can anyone help me find out what this finish is called? I'm not
complaining about it by any means - it plays like butter, has a hard
case, and only cost me $325. I'm just curious, and I know there are some
people on this list who are very knowledgeable about Ibanez guitars.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out,

Since this was brought up, I'd forgotten to post something that i saw on a
website this week. Go to http://cayman.ebay.com/ and use Dream Theater as
your keyword.
There's sometimes some old DT collector's item on there. :) Right now
someone's selling some really old Majesty fanzines.
Take care!

There are like 30 mirror sites for the FAQ, one of them being
"Under A Cyber Moon". As soon as the new version goes public,
all mirror sites will be updated. That's the way it works.
> I have no idea where the most current version is...
Last time I checked, all the mirror sites that were still up
and running had D-Man's latest version. Two of the mirror sites
weren't there anymore and my Dutch one needs to be added. I'm
sure Gabbo will get right on it, as soon as he reads this. ;-)

Like I said a few weeks ago... I don't maintain the FAQ,
I just mirror it. It's Gabbo's show, not mine. Sorry. :)

another CD you might consider is the Holdsworth / Johanssen
brothers fusion CD "Heavy machinery" that mike mentions in the
LTE liner notes. Holdsworth is a fusion legend, and the
Johanssens have played in many metal bands including Yngwie's.
unfortunately, i didn't think the CD was that good.
Holdsworth's solos are excellent, but the songwriting, all by
the Johanssens, is spotty. it has a lethargic feel, none of
the excitement of LTE, and a sterile feel, maybe from the synth
bass lines or lack of musician interaction. on LTE you can
hear them feeding off each other. if anyone wants to hear it,
i'd be happy to trade my Heavy Machinery CD for most anything.

this plainly:
"Stodge, you're being a dick."
As a lesson for >everyone<, let me remind you all that this is a public

messages DO place their subject in the appropriate place, and if you don't
like the subject, page down. It's not hard. :P And if someone asks you to
redirect your responses to private mail, please do so rather than bitch
about their cowardice or what-not to everyone else. You're own bitching is
more cluttering than the topics others are obviously interested in. If you
want to make the jam a better place, start legit topics, not flame wars. :P

Hi here is a few things about the Forum show.
As mentioned by jonathan.agar@gecapital.com the show was more laid
back than in December and for me not as good.
The set was definitely different than last time-see below and did not
really rock as I would have expected. The ill advised comment by James
that no one was interested in the World Cup anymore and it was all
over for us (I presume he meant England and/or Scotland) was not well
received. At this point in the evening Scotland were losing but were
still in it. Anyway.
James, Mike Portnoy and to some extent John P played to the audience,
as did Rudess and Morgenstein the support who really gave it some.
However John Myung was pretty much static and moved around less than
in December and Derek didnt smile until the very end and seemed just
content to do his keyboard parts.
The set list as much as I can pick out from my recording

Ryan,
Pick up a new release called Vital Tech Tones. It has Scott Henderson
(Tribal Tech), Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck), and Steve Smith (Vital
Information and various session). I think it's just as good if not
better than LTE. It's the same kind of progressive instrumental jamming
stuff except more fusion oriented. Also, I find it a bit more
interesting because there's more improvisation and more group
interaction because these players are more jazz influenced. You might
have to look in the jazz section of your local cd shop for it. I put up
an MP3 at Mosh's ftp site, check it out
ftp://medusa.gmsnet.com/incoming.

cool recommendation, i ordered this yesterday. there is a

it's not as heavy, more modern light fusion, but henderson's
work with Tribal Tech is great too.

if you want a very similar album (at least in concept) check out Black
Light Syndrome, with Terry Bozzio, Tony Levin, and Steve Stevens. It kick
ass. I almost like it better than LTE, because everything is less dense,
with very few overdubs, and it was almost all improvised. It's on Magna
Carta Records, so you should be able to get it from the same place as LTE.
another cool thing about BLS is that Levin stands out a lot more through
the whole record, without thick guitar overdubs as well as keys covering
him up. definitely give this one a try.

Hey Ryan
I suppose LTE is one of a kind, so you won`t find exatcly the same thing
anywhere unless it`s half DT/half some other virtuoso musicians.
I`d suggest checking out what Magna Carta has to offer. There`s plenty of
tributes and other "projects" that feature members of DT and other
exceptional musicians.
As far as RMP goes, I`m sure you`ll like it. It`s only keyboards and drums
and it most of the time sounds very rich (like whole band), but
sometimes I feel a lack of other instruments. But I assure you, the
performance of JR and RM are something amazing and they really let the steam
go in some songs. But there are a couple very slow nice and very passionate
songs too (like Masada). I`d say this CD is a must have.
I got a signed copy in Munich/Ger where they opened for DT (both
performances BLEW ME AWAY) and had a word with them, extremely nice guys,
seems like all great musicians are :)
If u can find RMP anywhere, GO FOR IT :)

Isn't all of this complaining about text versus graphical WWW a bit
pointless? Think long run. Eventually, blindness will become irrelevant,
at least in the electronic aspect. Cranial datajacks, ladies and
gentlemen, cranial datajacks. You'll "see" every electronic bitlet through
a bypassing of the eyes. Scientists've already been able to enable the
blind to see simple objects through a similar method. Hey, it's a reality.

In addition, for those who are not congenitally blind, but have
become blind due to corneal injury/scarring, etc. they have a
new surgical experimental procedure where they bypass the cornea
by inserting some mechanical device that captures the image and
then produces the corresponding electrical impulses to be
delivered to the person's retina. Really incredible stuff....
