<<Hello. I was sent an extra copy of Experience To Extremes, the two disc
Rush set from Prism records. I'm asking to see if anyone wants to trade
me Stream Of Consciousness (CD-Rs are fine) for it.

Also, much like my friend Buck Stodgers, I got a new-to-me guitar
recently. It's an Ibanez RG570, serial number F937721, and I'm having
trouble identifying the correct name of its funky color. It looks
pinkish purple until you hold it under lights, then it looks very blue.
Can anyone help me find out what this finish is called? I'm not
complaining about it by any means - it plays like butter, has a hard
case, and only cost me $325. I'm just curious, and I know there are some
people on this list who are very knowledgeable about Ibanez guitars.>>

Judging by my Ibanez catalog (its 1997 though, I dunno if the color choices
are any different for this model now) its probably Purple Pearl.

Speaking of new guitars, I just got my Ibanez RG 7 string! Its black and has
direct mounted Blaze II pickups. It sounds great and the neck feels like silk.
And no, the neck is not extremely wide. My next purchase: the Prestige model
    RG...

    >
    > However, the Rocktron Replifex is a real good unit. it has eq in
    > it as well, so it livens up the tone so it doesn't sound so digital. This

i have a Replifex in my rack and i love it. one reason it does
not sound too digital is that it keeps the bypass and dry
signal analog if you choose. it has many other features that
were designed with guitar in mind, like high frequency roll off
to emulate analog stomp boxes. full MIDI including CC. it
    sounds great.

    > one is about 8-900 new, so it could be around 500 used. the pitch-shifting

those must be really old prices - now they are about $500 new
and i got mine for $325 used. the Replifex has been replaced
by a newer unit called the Multivalve that is almost exactly the
same, so look for Replifex prices to drop even more.

    Hi !

I'm just coming back from the Paris show and I've got one thing to say :

it kicked fuckin' ass !!!!!!!! The doors opened at 6:30pm and outside the venue, there was a BIG truck (mobile studio). The music inside the place when we arrived was : LTE !!!!! And after Rooster (Alice In Chains) the lights went off. It was 7:15pm and THE show was about to begin. The sound was awesome, the band seemed concentrated, James very efficient, Mike less funny than usual but very good (of course !!!!), John P. was very good, John M. was as usual very good and undisturbable,

and Derek was as usual also :-) The first part of the show lasted 1:45 (from 7:15 to 9:00). After that, there was a 15 min intermission and the second part lasted 1:50 (from 9:15 to 11:05) Total playing time : 3 hours and 35 minutes !!!!! The lights were not as beautiful as last time (02-98) but very cool !!!!

The second part began with an acoustic set (45 min) which was absolutely

great !!!!!! Here's the set list (not in exact order and maybe with mistakes cause it's impossible to remember everything !!!)

    1. The Crimson Sunrise 2. Innocence 3. The mirror 4. Just let me breathe 5. Under a glass moon 6. Scarred 7. Voices 8. Burning my soul 9. Take the time 10 Keyboard Solo / Lines in the sand 11. The way it used to be 12. The Ytsejam (w/ Drums solo inside) 13. Carpe Diem 14. Lie 15. Caught in a web =================== 16. Anna Lee (acoustic) 17. Speak to me (acoustic) 18. Hollow years (acoustic) 19. Hey you (Pink Floyd) (acoustic) 20. Cover my eyes (acoustic) 21. Goodby Yellow Brick Road (Elton John) (acoustic) 22. Take away my pain (acoustic) 23. Trial of tears 24. Guitar solo (w/ Paradigm shift inside) 25. Peruvian skies (w/ Enter sandman (Metallica) and Have a cigar (Pink Floyd) inside) 26. Pull me under ------ encores------- 27. Metropolis pt. 1 28. Learning to live 29.The crimson sunset

Here it is ! Hope I didn't make too much mistakes ! We'll have Mike's confirmation soon, so hold on....

    See ya !

    Manu.

Yup. We watched a fairly humorous video that the author made based on the book in one of my music ed classes at school. It was geared to band/orchestra, but the concepts are applicable to any music. The author got the idea from a book called "The Inner Game of Tennis" that used the same concept for improvement and learning.

I just wanna say this in front of everyone, not just in private email. Damon, regardless of anything that has been said in the past few jams, I think that post best explains blindness as it affects a jammer and a musician. Anyone that doesn't read that for exactly what it is... well, they're the blind ones. I read that post over and over again, and it had the same impact every time. paraphrased, I guess it just said: "Don't feel sorry for me... This is just how it is. I can hear better than all of you" (HA HA) Thanks for that, Damon. That was educational for me. and I hope it was the same for everyone else.

A double sided DVD contains about 7 times as much data storage as a CD (if I remember right from the DVD faq ... it's _about_ that). Chances are, it won't be used. We still live with a music industry that will make 70 minutes a 2 disc set (e.g. the remasters of Bowie's STAGE).

Hey, guys. Since I have been posting mostly off-topic shit lately, i think I will try to make amends. Some thoughts on the upcoming tour for DT/elp/dp. How about a jam session at the end. Think of Keith Emerson playing with DT or DP. What about Greg lake, KJLB and the man from DP playing together. Singing, actually. All the guitarist on stage together. Drummers? Imagine a drum battle between Carl Palmer and the man himself MP. The possibilities are endless and orgasmic. What do you all think? Any combos you would like to see? What about other possibilities for the show to make it really cool!!!

The enemy here is not equipment but time. It takes WAY longer every day for me to deal with my e-mail than it did to post those posts. It's all I can do to manage to answer all the questions about content and forthcoming releases and warnings about incoming orders. I don't have the time to deal with all the "my CD ain't here yet" and "I sent my order in, did you get it?" mails. Plus I can post to the net from any of my computers, but can only receive e-mail on one.

I didn't want to post this, but I gotta defend myself from another stab.

On the subject of stabs and the way the Jam has been lately: You know, in rec.music.artists.queensryche, when Xanadu records hits trouble and John has delays, everyone is supportive and doesn't let it bother them, and their faith in John is unbroken. Here, I just get a lot of mean-spirited sarcasm most of the time, and only a little bit of e-mail support, mostly from the better folks out there. I guess a different band just cultivates a different fan mentality. I'm just sorry that my favorite band (DT) has cultivated THIS fan mentality. I wish Queensryche were my favorite band now. But alas, they're not.

The Jam is less than 5% of my business now. I have a huge fan base that is into the Ryche, Rush, and (believe it or not) Tori Amos stuff. Although I admit Rush alone is maybe 50 to 55% of all the work I do. By rights I should just leave... I'm certainly not here for any financial gain anymore. But I'm not going to just say "the hell with you all" because there are good people here, friends of mine (whether they order CDs or not) and I'm not about to abandon or condemn them for the actions of a few bad apples. OK, a lot of bad apples. I'm more loyal than that... that's an Arizonan trait. I stick by the people that have stuck by me. Add to that the fact that DT is still my favorite band, and I think a lot of you can see that the reasons I stick around here may not be the reasons you thought you perceived. I'm already back to simply being "Mike Bahr - DT fan" and if everyone would stop slinging horseshit my way then perhaps you'd all be surprised. Yes, I'm sick of posting about Prism too... so quit making me!! (And yes, a flame is "making me". I do not let flames against me go unanswered, nor should I be expected to do so.)

Babs, this is Damon. I wasn't the one who asked, to my memory, but I can give a little more information. Omni 3000 is a product designed for people with learning disabilities to read. It is actually made by Kurzweil Educational systems, not HumanWare, but HumanWare is a distributor. Web site is http://www.humanware.com. If you are looking for software for the blind, try Omni 1000, not 3000. The 3000 is more for dyslexic people.

John, he uses sequenced parts only for when he needs his two hands for things like soloing and pitch bending and two handed parts. Mostly, his left hand is handling the bass. His right hand takes care of everything else. But there are times when he can't do that, then he triggers the sequencer for that particular section. How the two of them stay in tempo so that the sequenced parts are seamlessly triggered without drastic shifts in tempo is amazing and mystifying to me. How Morganstein can stay in time with things like that is even more astounding. I think these two are fucking unreal and you can quote me on that.

Hi, A question that was not answered in the FAQ is: Is the Japan PPV(pay per view?) show the one I own, saying in the top left(or right) corner WOWOW?

Has somebody a transcription of the Japanese talk during the Platinum Award Ceremony?

Everytime I skim the FAQ I laugh about this misheard lyrics. My favourite used to be:

"Death is the first dancing turtle" "Death is the first dance eternal"

But from the new one's there's a threat: "You ask me where's my hairspray:" "You ask why my hair's gray."

I love that, too, but the turtle? That's great. Has anybody some more??

    Bye s.
