I've had the FAQ update ready for a few days here, and was hoping to get
the announcement in along with Mike's post about UaCM becoming the
official DT site (Congrats, Itchy!). Anyhow, the timing is a little off,
but both posts should make the same jam, so.... :)

Enough with that, check out the updated FAQ at
    http://www.prognosis.com/gabbo/dt/dtfaq.html

It's stil getting settled in, and I'm still checking links and verifying
mirror sites. If you notice an error, have new info, or anything along
those lines, don't hesitate to drop me an email.

There will be another update in about a week to correct the 'bugs' this
time around, and I will be adding in a few new things, as well as giving
credit where credit is due, and possibly restructuring a few things.

I can't being to appologize for this taking so long, so I'm not going
to... any attempt is going to sound like an excuse, and the truth is, I
undertook a task which I was not prepared for at the time, and it's no
one's fault but mine. Now that I've got the ball rolling, updates should
be every other week or so. So if I start slacking again, everybody get
on my ass and get be back in gear. :)

Anyway, congrats to Itchy again, and to all of you for new stuff to enjoy!

On the Chroma Key issue, I have to say that colorblind is a catchy
fucking song. A shame none of the other samples caught my interest,
but this one is friendly in a sort of Cure-on-the-soundtrack-for-the-Crow
    fashion.

I want to be sure on a lyrical point. This one lyric, I like a lot, but
I'd hate to like it because of a mistake. The chorus, does it end,

Maybe (? ... sounds more like a muddle) I'm paranoid
    And that's my problem.
    You almost have to be
    When you look like me.

(insert truly irritating "Yeah, yeah," at this point)

Sort of the story of my life, if it's true. Such a shame I didn't like
    the rest of the samples.

Personally, if DT did a concept album, I'd like to see all of them
contribute. Imagine that there are several different main characters in
the piece. Then we could have each of they guys focus on a character,
giving theyr lyrics a more personal style, with JP and JM doing the
narration bits, since their style fits better with that. Each song copuld
have lyrical contributions from several band members. I think that'd be a
    hoot.

yes, all two orders for it still in the queue will be fulfilled as per

Speaking of Journey, has anyone else picked up a copy of Journeys Greatest Hits-Live. The CD was taped over 3 concerts in 1982 and 1983. It covers all of their hits up to "Raised on Radio" (which in my opinion wasn't that good). The live CD is great! Some of you may not like Journey, but if you do, check out this CD.

Well, today was payday, so I took my semi-annual stride over to the local CD shops to browse the bargain bins for some enlightening new music, and here's what I'd found.

*Yes - Closer to the Edge.* Well, this was one of three I'd purchased today and, my bad, I'd walked out of the store without looking at the copyright year. I usually make it a point not to buy music older than me with a few exceptions. Anyway, If Spock's Beard is Dream Theater on meth, this album is Spock's Beard on acid. It's just too fucked up for my tastes. It took about 5 minutes of random improvised fuckfest to break into vocals that went off target, imo. This is one to save for a day when I have time to actually sit back and analyze it thoroughly. That's just not today. Definitely a BAD starter album. (For me anyway).

*Yes - 90125* Already heard it. It's just nicer to have it on CD than on cassette. It's like the stool in the collostomy bag. I haven't actually listened to this for years, so it's refreshing to pick it up again.

*Yes - Talk* Now, this album really hooked me. This is the way I get into the prog bands though. Pick up one of their most commercial releases and work my way back. Talk is not mainstream commercial, imo. It's just a nice kick back and let the rythmn do the talking album. I like it alot so far. Jon Anderson's voice is going to take awhile and a higher frequency hearing disorder to get used to, though.

*Abraxus Pool* This one had me yelling "HOLY SHIT!" when I ran across it. That was only after a casual glance at the back cover listed Neal Schon as the guitarist. This one kicks much ass. Very latin feel. Reminiscent of good old Santana stuff. (Basically cuz it is all the original Santana band guys). Definitely worth getting.

*Peter Gabriel - So* All I can say is, "where the hell has this sumbitch been hiding from me?" I consider this one the pick of the litter so far. I've heard alot of his stuff here and there, but it was always mood music or something so I never really paid attention. I'm probably the last person on the list to buy this so I probably don't need to go into detail. :) KICK ASS!

Anyway, I'm sure ya'all wanted to read that. :)

    >The new URL is www.dreamtheater.net I just gotta say it's "about fucking time!" Good job, Itchster!

Thanks for all the recommends gang. This is gonna be a musical evening... :) --KorgX3

Yes, I believe DT is the opening band. Then ELP, and finally DP.

For those who have not heard, Howard Stern will be guesting on Magic Johnson's talk show "The Magic Hour" THURSDAY night this week.

I received the Open All Night bootleg of DT "Static Progress" 2-cd set, and I have not had a chance to listen to both cd's in their entirety yet. I will give my view on it a little later. It was received in a very short period of time and I love the artwork on the cover, inside, and the back. Even the cd's themselves have colorful labels, something I've missed for quite some time.

    > ------------------------------ > From: Alex Fraser <id@dreamt.org> > Subject: where's my sex? (was- Re: Change for the Worse...)

[crap about spanking, bondage, and shit like that deleted]

The reason you're not getting a reply from Dr. Mosh lately is that he's been EXTREMELY busy. He's got a trunk full of heroin in his car which he received last week and he's been trying very hard to consume it all before his next shipment of pot comes in this weekend(that one's coming in a semi trailer).

On top of this, he's had to deal with labor problems. A group of prostitutes from one of his rings in socal are threatening to form a union. Apparently, word got out earlier in the month that the good doctor had been investigating the possibility of expanding his San Diego prostitution operations into Tijuana. The CA whores fear that more Mexican labor will be brought in to the U.S. over the next few years, depressing prostitution rates throughout Southern California. This situation had started out bad to begin with, but this union thing just about gave our favorite doctor a heart attack when he heard. He's always been big on a "personal" relationship with each of his employees, and the problem with a union is that it just tends to throw up a huge wall between the boss and the employees. I mean, how's he supposed to get laid? Get dates? Get REAL!

Compounding all this has been the U.S. Coast Guard. It appears that they're catching on to the evasion tactics employed by the good doctor's crack-boat drivers. Just last night, we received word that his latest crack shipment had been gunned down by a Coast Guard cutter after a high-speed chase that extended well into the Pacific. Fortunately, a shipment had come in just two days earlier by submarine, but the good doctor now only has four crates filled with crack instead of the ten that he'd paid for, and BOY is he PISSED! It looks like he's gonna have to to tone down his crack consumption for a while, because submarine crack deliveries are a fairly new thing. There's only 2 subs in the world that do this, and they're booked with other deliveries for the next 3 months!

As you can see, the moshing doctor has got a lot of shit on his mind. That's why he hasn't been replying to your mail, and you really need to cut him some slack. His reduced crack consumption is already starting to tell on him, and he's been cranky as hell since he started cutting back 3 hours ago.

Hey fellow jammers. Seems like this summer is a busy time for prog bands releasing new material (uh hmmm....Mr. Portnoy? :) ) and was wondering how I should spend my "limited monatary resources". What other prog albums should I buy? I like hard music like pantera, old metallica, ozzy, life of agony, and my fav DT album is Awake (with ACoS a close second) . I bought Iced Earth's new CD (can't wait for the delivery) and Symphony X's Devine Wings of Tragedy, and I love DT and LTE. What other bands/cds would be good for my tastes?

As for the concept album idea, I say go for it! I think the whole band should contribute lyrics because I love MP's ACoS and JM's Learning to Live. how about incorpating the theme around Metroplis Pt. 2 though? just a thought.

I went to Queensryche.com, and all the news there was about a proposed new album, and a huge tour if they sell over 6 million. But if all this was made really clear in the past jams, no need to respond - I'll most likely pick it up.

It really says a lot.Anyway, I got mail from Kevin Rackley, who is also a drummer (smooth), and totally digs "Optical Race" (kickass!) Alright, first I'd like to know what kind of band you're in. (did you get all my "Electric Fusion" stuff in #12?... Our name will most likely be AURORA BOREALIS or just AUREALIS. The covers will supply the added hard-core edge. Optical Race, Lily on the Beach, Miracle Mile, and Melrose are the albums "Private Music..." covers. Optical Race only has 2 tracks on The PMoTD. It's good as a sampler of that period, but someone like you needs to hear the other albums. I'll also recommend "Tournado", as a sort of sampler of their later stuff. See #28 for earlier... but you'll like it. But I can tell you'll end up hearing the other main works, too - as soon as you hear for yourself how much talent they really have. I'm just shocked at times (STILL!!) at the total kickass beauty... Which brings me to "Big Swifty", who says "220 Volt Live" (yep, name's right) is his favorite. It certainly is a pinnacle of their modern, ass-kicking career, that's for sure. It sounds like you know some others. Please, what are they? What do you like the most about each? I'd really like to know, and I'll read all you care to tell. I just joined TaDream's list, and so far I don't really know what to think. But if I leave or not, I'm going to start asking them who listens to DREAM THEATER! Wish me luck, I'm going to be busy...

ThanX to all jammers everywhere who have written to me and read about the 2nd greatest band ever! -MAX AMUNDO <maxamundo@hotmail.com> =^..^=
