how about waiting 2,3 sometimes 4 weeks? Cdnow has been useful for me... but they take about 2 weeks from when i place the order till it gets to my door... cdconnection takes about the same (keep in mind i live off the continental US)

Why doesn't an YtseJammer just approach Mike (he's usually very accessible and more than willing to talk to a fan) and just flash him the email address and ask "Is this your email address?" If it isn't the REAL Portnoy, he'd have no reason to say it is." End of story. I have no proof of any sort, but I bet it is him. What would be the point in fibbing? To test the limits of your email?

Anybody who has met Mike Portnoy knows he is way too nice and outgoing. I mean the guy is the model for what every fan hopes their hero is really like. Well, a couple of European Jammers should just ask him on tour. Report back to us poor saps in America that have to wait for the return of the might DT.

Could anyone who has the LTE either e-mail me privately or e-mail the 'jam with the Catalogue number of this CD. I asked my local Record shop to order it for me (they are pretty good for this) and they phoned Roadrunner in the UK and guess what... Roadrunner knew absolutely Nothing! Perhaps if I have the Catalogue number aswell it might help. The Magna Carta (US release) or Roadrunner (R/o/World) Catalogue numbers will both do as I can order it on Import if I have to,.

    Thanks in advance.

I recommend the Laser's Edge. You can find them on the web at http://www.jersey.net/~lasercd/. I have ordered from them before, and they seem to be very reliable. Their regular catalog (which can be viewed on their web page) specializes in progressive rock. They also have a separate, smaller catalog of prog-metal. Just click on the link that says "Progressive/Doom/Power Metal".

I know they have Superior's "Behind" for $12, and that they have several Symphony X CD's (not sure if they have the new one yet -- send them an e-mail if they don't have it listed). If you order a Symphony X disc from them, be sure to inquire about the price. The last time I checked, the Symphony X prices had not been updated on the web page, so the actual prices were significantly lower than the listed prices. I'm not sure if they have Enchant's "Time Lost". Hope this helps.

OK, freeks, I took Tacek's suggestion and checked out the clips. All I can say is a huge thanks beyond words to our Mads. Those clips are fucking unbelievable! I know this is strange to say right after Mike declares himeslf, but they make Petrucci's creativity look totally school-boyish. Now, I really didn't hear much straight picking, but that might be because of the wav quality. What I did hear is two-hand tapping that will blow your chops so far out the window that you'll either burn your guitar or promist to practice 24/7 so you can do marvelous things like that. This is some of the most awesome combining of technically impossible playing with pop. You can groove to this shit, man. I don't mean just fuckin head-banging. I mean halling ass around a dance floor or down a freeway. The last thing I'll say is that I want these CD's now and damn my empty wallet. Be well. Matt B

First off, could someone from Quebec please tell me who you guys deal with for concert tickets, and if they have a website? I'm taking a trip to Montreal next month and wanted to check out tp see if there were any good concerts to go to, but when I went to ticketmaster canada's site, it seemed that they only deal with some of the provinces.

Also, I read an article on Creed in a magazine, and they sounded interesting, so I bought their CD My Own Prison. I had NO idea they were the ones who sung the song that's on the radio, I didn't know the name of the song was My Own Prison, I just knew the line "Shoulda been dead on a sunday morning bangin' my head". Well, you guys can hate me for it, but I actually like this CD! It is kinda "grungy" but imo, it's good! And for all of you who don't see the talent, check out the guitar solo in Pity For A Dime. Pretty good. I heard the guitarist, Mark Tremonti studied shredders like Di Miola for a while, but he doesn't like to show off too much because he thinks it takes away the beauty from the song. Oh well, I won't go on about them any more. I'll shut up now. -- ========================================================================

I bought three CDs yesterday (dangerous habit leftover from when I earned money), and the other two were by Mick Karn, who used to be the bass player for Japan. If you're looking for more ungodly instrumental music, "Bestial Cluster" is the next album to get. Not nearly as uptempo, but Mick Karn is EVERYWHERE on that damn fretless bass, and all his basslines are eerie and melodic. And Steve Jansen, my God what a drummer. Subtle, yet shifting time signatures from measure to measure. Comes well recommended.

Well, since I'm keeping this list, I'd like to inform you that I'm not updating it since Andrew Forcier sent me it. Just for your information the list contains both good and bad traders and the last update it received was (according to my book):

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - rebutosa:/home/specmac/rbrito> ls -lAF www/ytselist.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 rbrito specmac 4442 Jun 26 1997 www/ytselist.txt rebutosa:/home/specmac/rbrito> - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This is a list of the people that members of the Dream Theater Mailing List, The Ytse Jam, have traded with. The list manager's e-mail address is mailto:andrew.forcier@prudential.com and all requests should be directed here.

Do not mail bomb the people on the list asking for trades. This list should be for use if there is a question over someone you have initiated trade talks with.

All listings are sorted alphabetically by last name in categories of 1) with e-mail address, 2) with loaction, 3) with full name, 4) with nick name.

Those who are listed in the *good trader* section are those who completed their trade to the satisfaction of the recipient.

Those who are listed in the *mixed response* section either a) were submitted for both the good and bad trader lists, or b) completed the trade, but not to the recipient's satisfaction. This only refers to if the *service or materials* were unsatisfactory . This does not mean include if you thought the recording was poor quality, just the time frame the materials were sent in and the manner in which they were sent (i.e., not the type of tape you requested, no cases sent when requested, poor mailing packagi ng).

Those who are listed in the *bad trader* section did not complete their trade at all.

At any time, any person may 1) request a copy of this list, 2) submit a name for any section of this list, and 3) request information as to who submitted what name. Any issues relating to why a person submitted a name will not be dealt with by the list ma nager; take it up with the person who submitted the name.

If you see a name listed twice in a row, please ignore the duplication, it is just a managerial error. If you have any additional information about names listed here (e-mail address, location) please feel free to submit it.

Also, at the very bottom of this list are the names of reputable CD distributors. They will deliver your CDs as ordered, and in a timely manner (6-8 weeks). Submissions are accepted for this list also. Please ensure that they meet the standards above. ____________________________________________________________________

If I have some time, I'll update this list, including a new formatting, but don't expect anything very soon. If you plan to include new bad/good traders, please send an e-mail to <rbrito@linux.ime.usp.br> with subject "BAD TRADER" (without quotes, uppercase characters -- a program will automatically separate my personal e-mails from such messages and this separation will be based on the subject). Please, include *ALL* information you have about the bad trader. If you have information about other traders on this list, please send me that extra information.

Another observation is that Andrew Forcier included my name there, but I think that I'll remove that from the list, because I don't like self promotion. :-)
