The album will be released by INSIDE OUT in Europe (the same label
that released Winter Rose)... As far as I know, the guys are still
shopping for a deal in the US. As usual, more information on Under

If you find the "Master" list please let me know because I have a few names
to add as well.

-------------------
Here's #1...

Saif Attar (mephisto@index.com.jo)
P.O.Box 595
Amman 11947
Jordan

**Sent him 4 cd's to trade in early January. Once he acknowledged
he got mine I never heard from him again, never answered his e-mail.
After repeated e-mails to a friend of his he responded (through his friend's
account) saying he sent mine, that his account was disabled, and to stop
bothering him (fuckin' little prick!) He's ripped off a bunch of
other ppl in January (just check Dejanews.com) so steer clear of this waste
of human life.

If anyone knows any good revenge tactics please let me know. I've
gotten ripped off before but its usually been too small a matter to get
this upset over BUT this asswipe deserves whats coming to him. He's
#1 on my hitlist and I'll be damned if I'm just gonna let it drop (like
I usually do).

------------------------------
Here's #2.......

Alan Estrada (al766074@mail.mty.itesm.mx)

Alan Estrada
410 William Backer
Colinas de San Jeronimo
CP 64630
Monterrey, NL, Mexico

**I sent him 5 videos in a trade in late December. He said he
got mine and they were great and that he sent my 5 out. Months later
still no tapes despite repeated e-mails to him and the usual list of excuses
ranging from "I was away for 2 weeks" and "Whoops..my post office screwed
up". I realize these things happen...BUT they don't happen for 3
and a half months!!! Unless you enjoy a lot of bullshit in your e-mail
DO NOT trade with this guy.

Speaking of bullshit...see below........

----------------------------------------
Here's #3......

Dr. Mosh (drkhoe@gmsnet.com)

Dino Khoe
P.O. Box 5061
Cerritos, CA 90703

** Yep..same dude from the 'jam. Being that he's a fellow jammer
and that I've chatted with him online before (ages ago...) I figured him
to be a reputable and honest trader. I could not have been more wrong.
Nothing would prepare me for the endless storm of bullshit ONE friggin'
videotape could cause. I know he's traded with others before so I'm
at a loss as to why its so difficult to press "Record" and "Play" at the
same time? (the whole process of completing a trade takes maybe 20-25
min of actual energy!?)

Our trade originated in late October and I STILL have not received my
ONE measly videotape yet. I had his package ready within a few days.
We agreed to send them at the same time but after months of watching his
tape collect dust in my room I decided to mail it just to get rid of it
in the hopes he'd FINALLY send mine. Wrong again...... Instead
his response was that my tape was unwatchable...What fucking nerve!?!
(which is crap....Its not crystal clear quality but its cool to see nonetheless).
Fine...at this point I just want my tape back. And even thats like
pulling teeth. I must say that his excuses are not as creative as
other bad traders being that his sole response has always been "I'll send
it on Monday"........nobody needs this kind of torture.

He seems to be a decent enough guy online..but is definitely not trustworthy,
reputable, or honest when it comes to trades....thus = bad trader.
------------------------

I normally wouldn't give situations like these a second thought but
early '98 has produced such an overabundance of shitty, dishonest traders
I thought some of you might want to know.

on that note...Chris P...where are my Ron Thal goodies for the two ANGRA
vids from late '96 (Jason Becker ALS Benefit in Chicago)? :-)

Tu
NECESITAS este disco. :-)

I have both versions of Rock Discipline. They are very different. The
video as you might guess is complete. The book in the book/video set is
simply tab of all of the exercises in the video. The book in the book/CD
version contains some of the exercises on the video and some text
describing the exercise. It only has probably 1/3 of the material on the
video. The CD is just audio recording of the exercises with JP adding some
voice over. It sounds as if most if not all of it is lifted from the video.

Experiment that my local Best Buy store had, and it's all MINE!!!!!! and I
sincerely apologese to those who have not found it yet for my gloating. If
you haven't found it yet, keep searching, it definatly ROCKS.
And if that WAS the real Mike Portnoy the other day and you do read these
messages, my hat is off to you dude, "You the Man!". Excellent double bass
work on "3 minute warning" (on track #10). Also great job on all of the
liner notes in the CD. Now, is it too early to start talking about LTE II?
I was looking through the Magna Carta catalog that came in LTE, does anyone
know if the group "Shadow Gallery" is any good? They are compared to
Queesnryke and DT.

I dont really play guitar all that much, other than just screwing around
and drooling on my guitar when I listen to JP, but I found PS pretty easy
to play. The heavy stuff is just so fun to crank up...Another Day doesnt

First of all, it doesnt take to much to type the letters y-o-u, and it is a
hell of a lot less annoying. Secondly, you are talking to a group of
highly music-literate group of individuals, some of whom make their living
off of playing music, so telling them they shouldnt be picky about what
they choose to play is kind of silly. For trumpet, I play specific
equipment for specific reasons. I play what I play because it produces the
sound I want. Same goes for any instrument. Give a pianist a choice
between a shitty old stand up or a Steinway, they will choose the Steinway,
hands down, because it has better sound, and allows the music to flow much
easier. By your logic, it shouldnt matter what instrument you use. But it
does. Therefore, equipment is extraordinarily important. Brian May
probably uses a coin because he has found it gives him the sound he wants,
not because he doesnt care what he sounds like, which is what you imply.

Remember, you're talking to Portnoy Himself now, you gonna tell him that he
should be able to play what he does on a bunch of tin cans? I dont think
so. No way.

Yeah, forget about the fans, why dont you just email mike himself? haha :
) Wait, no just kidding, dont! : )

You know, Ive been thinking, if everyone has the mindset "Dont email Mike,
we dont want to overwhelm him, or piss him off" Mike may not be getting any
email. Can you imagine it? Mike emails the jam, expects a flood of email,
and receives none. What a let down...Especially since my interaction's
with him have led me to beleive that he loves nothing more than hearing
from his fans...The reasonable ones anyway. Took all the restraint in the
world to keep from emailing him myself.

So I would be interested in asking Mike how many emails he actually HAS
received from people on the jam...

>The second is: What's the Liquid Tension Experiment? (who are they=
> exactly?).

Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, Tony Levin (bass), and Jorden Rudess (keys)
got together and in a week wrote and produced an instrumental album. And
it ROCKS. Hasnt left my CD player once. Amazing to see the sickening
talent at work. Listening to LTE makes me want to just give up music all
together, set up a shrine to the prog gods, cease speaking, go celibate,
and live out the rest of my life with the CD on infinte repeat.

Back to worship.

Hey everyone,
I had a very easy time finding LTE in my local
music/import store, and I must say it is worthy of the
great reviews I've read on this list.
Anyway, in the picture on back of the jewel case, it looks
like there is a Zildjian cymbal in there. Has anyone else
seen this yet? It might have been part of the kit that was
used in the studio, but I would have thought that he would
bring in his own gear.

Hi there!

I went to the DT Show in Mannheim on 11/03/98. And I went there with 14
friends. Some of them saw and even listen to DT the first time in their
life.... The set started with ACOS I and then the usual stuff followed
(don't remember which after what...) While JP did this absolute amazing
guitar solo one of my friends got on his knees and said:
(translated)"Everything that is not a human being has to be devinal." This
one is converted to DT :-)

After the show we waited to meet some of the bands' members because we had
an aftershow pass. So sitting there and waiting, suddenly JP went by and
said a really cool "hello". But when we realized what has just happened he
already was disappered. The next member we saw was Derek. But he only
looked out of the door for 2 secodds or so, than disappeared also. But MP
came out some minutes later. We got the opportunity to take photos, get
signatures and talk a bit. Some other crazy fans were there too. They are
certainly on the jam. One of them, a girl looking japanese, had an
photoalbum with 10 years DT shows :-) MP obviosly knew her and the other
guy because he drank a Jagermeister with the guy.
We went out to the bus to see some other members. And then we saw
something I still couldn't believe. The doors of the bus were closed. But
we could see JM sitting inside playing bass!!! We went back to MP inside
the hall and asked him:"Why is JM sitting in the bus playing Bass?" He
said that he will have some kind of bass clinic next day and because he
didn't do that before he wants to practice a bit :-)
Later, we met JP and JL near the bus. We got some photos and signs.

The Show itself was the best I've ever seen from them. It was my 4th show.

OK. That's all...

Ciao
C.

Ok Jammers, here's my sob story...... I have a strike going against me right away...I live in the boonies of North Dakota ! This is a place where Garth Brooks will sell out our biggest arena, and a rock show is lucky to break even in our smallest bar....(We had Anthrax and Metal Church play here once at a dinky civic center and they LOST money on the deal). Anyway, on to the story...I had initially pre-ordered it online through CD-Now....with the order still active (before the release date), I then saw the Japanese "Hollow Years" was available....Stupidly, I tried at first to combine the orders until I realized it may slow the other one down....In straightening this mess out, I had unknowingly deleted the pre-order for LTE.....So....Wednesday comes, a day after LTE was released....Still no Fed- Ex.....I had gone online that night to check my order status and found only "Hollow Years" on order....I called the customer service, and after waiting on hold for ten minutes, they said I deleted it on my end....I realized I must have done it when I tried to combine the orders. So here I was, no LTE, not even on order, after waiting for it to arrive for two days. I got on the phone ASAP Thursday morning to find it locally.....Best Buy said "what was the name again ? and then "Don't have it"....Media Play "was that the title or the band?"...and "I don't see anything even close....are you sure ?" Grrrrrrr......Then Disc and Tape MAsters, who are usually really good with imports, etc..."We don't have that" (I doubt if they even looked)....After work that same day, I went to every store in town....and no-one had it....After hearing how so many of yours were in back, in the dance section, etc., I looked through every single disc.Still no LTE....Then , I went to my last resort....we have a Disc-Go-Round here, and the manager likes to have a good progressive selction (though he gets a good price for them) "He'll have it", I thought to myself. He's a big DT fan...That's where I got the 86 Majesty Demo and Majestic Harmonies....I asked if he had it, and get this...he has never even heard of it ! I showed him in his book the title, release date, etc., and he circled it so he could get some in...(but not for two weeks)....so I went home frustrated and still with no LTE....I once again ordered from Cd-Now (and triple-checked to make sure it went through). As I understand, it is now in transit, but I still have'nt received it. (even though I ordered it fed-ex one business day). So I'm hoping Monday is "the day".... And after hearing how good it is from you guys my patience is wearing really really thin ! Anyway, thats my story...sorry for the details but I felt it was condusive to the story....Moral of the story ? I was a dumbass to mess with the order in the first place , and North Dakota is full of Hicks, who are the very reason the only time a good band comes here is when they're passing through on Interstate 94 on their way from Minneapolis to Boise Idaho.

Hi there, some of you may remember my praising of yesterday's show in Duesseldorf. In that post I said that they could only top that show if they played Trial of Tears tonight in Muenster. Well, guess what they played as last song before the encore... :-))))

As usual, the show started with the Clockwork Orange intro. I expected LitS to follow, but it didn't (which was a genuine shock to me, because I thought I knew what to expect). Instead they started with a little instrumental piece that I didn't recognize (which got me irritated even more). After the show my friend said that it was the theme song of "The Munsters". He's usually right about things like that, so I guess it's true. Just as I typed this last sentence, I realized that it probably was that theme song, because the name of the city is "Munster" (with an 'Umlaut', if it's not spelled "Muenster"). Whoaaa...

The first 'real' song was Innocence from ACOS, so I knew that the setlist would be different from the shows of this tour that I had seen already. Great! I don't remember the exact setlist, but they left out Lines in the Sand, Voices and Under a Glass Moon. Instead they played Innocence, Take the Time (YEAH!) and Trial of Tears. Take the Time had a new ending which was absolutely *killer*! The order of the other songs was also a bit different than at the previous shows that I saw on this tour.

Other notable moments include a little technical problem at the beginning of Derek's solo which seemed to get him pretty pissed off, although I don't think that most people would have even noticed it. The two audience drummers were quite good, and that little excerpt from "One" was also done again. I think it's time that they start learning to play that whole song... James and Mike really seem to enjoy carrying John Petrucci off the stage, because they did it again tonight. He wasn't able to continue playing this time though, because James took his hands and Mike his feet (or vice versa). I guess they really must be fed up with all that guitar talk on the jam and started hating their guitarist or something... ;-) I should also mention that I think that James' stageacting has improved *a lot* over the years. And he didn't even start any fistfights with members of the audience! ;-)

This is long enough already, so I'll just say that I had a fantastic weekend. Two stellar performances, different setlists: I'm (deep) in heaven! Dream Theater rules. They really do.

Take Care, Andreas Berger
