Well, just for your information (I may have said this before) this
song is available on Angra's 1996 EP called "Freedom Call". The brazilian
version of this EP contains 2 extra songs from an acoustic show they
    performed in France, at FNAC.

    Hi,

The subject of this message, as some of you might know, is the title of JP book about guitar techiniques. I'm writing to ask if someone could tell me more about this book. I found it at

    http://www.musicbooksplus.com/gtech.htm

At Amazon Books I found two versions of this book. The first version wich has two editions (1995 and 1997) is a set with the book and a VHS video. The second version contains a book and a CD.

So, I'm interested in the book, the CD AND the video, but it's way too expensive to buy the two versions. Furthermore, what should I do with two books??? Don't answer, please... :-).

    Hope to hear from you...

I have kind of a dumb question here.

I'm just learning to play guitar (have had just 3 lessons thus far), and my teacher asked me to dub several songs I like to a tape for him, to give me something to work on learning. This would be very easy if I listened to Hanson or something, but seeing as I mostly listen to prog., I'm trying hard to think of something relatively cool, that might be reasonable for a beginner. I don't think I'm ready to tackle much Petrucci or Van Halen yet. ;-) There's not much I can think of at all. Is there any DT that's easy to play? Only thing I can think of is the first 15 notes of PMU. Any suggestions (doesn't HAVE to be DT)?

    Thanks, Joe DeAngelo

I just re-subbed on the jam for a week during my spring break. What's this about Portnoy posting to the jam? Has he posted a lot. This reminds me of 2/3 of the members of King's X posting on the newsgroup.

    Hi there!

Well, it's time for me to go out of lurk mode for a few lines...

I'm travelling the US this summer. I'm gonna use the opportunity and buy some hard-to-get CDs (that is, hard to get over here).

My question is: Which of the big stores (Best-Buy, etc.) have the best collection of prog. CDs? or can you name little but known stores?

    Thanx,

I've found alot of rare Dream Theater, Savatage and Asia albums at a small chain called "Vibes." They're not as big as say, Blockbuster, but they have more rare imports. (Legitimate only, they DO NOT carry bootlegs) It's the only place where I've ever found a copy of "Live at the Marquee." They tend to be the big carriers of prog. They've even got a few prog bands I havent even heard of. Or you could try Blockbusters, Hastings, or the Virgin record store, but don't expect to find much rare stuff there.

Ok...... I know everyone's point that the feel should be important.... but surely U guys all know that while the equipment IS important, one shouldn't get too hooked up in the choice of plastic pieces to use...... in case U didn't know, Brian May uses a coin and Mark Knopfler uses NO picks.... surely these guys should be telling U something.... that good playing doesn't depend on picks at all..... nor even fantastic equipment.... I can give U the best racks, axes, stomp boxes and so forth, but if U can't play to save your life, U still can't play! So don't get too hung up on your hardware.... just play and enjoy your music....

Does anyone have the address with the pic of MP & KJLB w/ short hair? I wrote it down the other day, and now I seem to have misplaced it. The Ozzfest lineup is weaker than last year's. BTW, does anyone know how I can find the 12/12/96 Providence show on disc? I am making a trade w/ someone for it on tape, but I want to know about the quality, vocal dropouts, etc. before I actually buy it; considering it is the whole show. I have the Milan show, and aaas far as I know, it is now out of print, so happy hunting. I'm going to the store either today or tomorrow to get LTE.

GO RAMS!!!!!! Huge win over Murray St. last night. Let's hope tomorrow's game vs. Kansas is a good one.
