    HEY AL!!
You're right, Minnesota does kick ass! I also hit Best Buy(Burnsville) for
my first stop and found LTE right away!! They only had one copy though-so for
all of you who are ripping on these stores for not carrying your favorite
CD's, maybe you should haul you're ass over there a little quicker to get
these CD's. Especially ones like LTE, since most places aren't gonna carry 100
copies of coolshit like that. Na na,na na na!! Love, hugs, and kisses, JK
PS-Anybody know if DT is coming back for another US run before the next album?

Bruce Kulik's new band kicks some serious ass! I'm wanting more info if
anyone else has this album please tell me what ya think...I'm seriously
considering gettin' this disc. For anyone who hasn't heard their new
single...the lead singer sounds like a mix between Savatage's two lead
singers...the guitar work is killer...and the track just rocks!

I want to thank everyone who is helping me out with the bands out there,
I'm going to check out Tower this Friday and see if they have some of
them....And also, let the suggestions and perhaps samples on pages pour
    on in, they're great..!!!!

BTW, LTE has not left my CD Player since I bought it last week, it's the
most unbelievable album I've heard. Tony Levin is awesome on bass,
Petrucci is showing all those dumbasses out there that he does indeed
have his own style, Jordan Rudess really impressed me and I'm going to
check out some of that Rod Morgenstein Project(spelling??), and of
course, Portnoy is a god, He's making me want to drop every other
instrument and just worship the drums, he's so amazing...Damn I wish DT
would come play in New Orleans(ARE YOU HEARING ME MIKE PORTNOY???)

I just checked out the Under a Cyber Moon website today and the following was added:

Hollow Years from Young Guitar - full size scans in .GIF format, zipped for ease of download (each page would have been a download file otherwise). It's about 1 meg, so be sure you really want it before you start. It does have the complete band score, so that's a definite plus!

WDADU Inside cover photos with autographs. I picked these autographs up during the first Images and Words tour (hence no Dominici autograph, anyone want to help me out with that?) You've seen the pictures before, but for those of you who haven't been able to get the autographs yet (remember, Kevin Moore may be much harder to get now), just download these, print them out on a good color printer and lie your ass off how you got them from the band personally to all your friends.

Well, I would like to thank "Itchy" for putting these up. His website is probably the only website I hit daily and should be the model for all other serious websites.

It may seem stupid to put up his website address, but there was a time when even you didn''t know about "Under a Cyber Moon" so here it is:

I personally rate it this way:

Selling England by the Pound was rated (yeah yeah, who cares) by alt.music.progessive (or the rec. equivilent) as the best prog album of all time, and "Firth of Fifth" (off the same album) as the best prog song of all time. I tend to agree. This album is a must have -- it's quirky like Peter Gabriel often is, but too much so (Foxtrot's cool, but just one shade too "quirky"). Another fav album of mine is A Trick of the Tail. This is post-Gabriel, with Phil singing, but it's not nearly as pop as their 1983-on stuff. Other would recommend The Lamb Dies Down on Broadway (2-CD bigass sounding album. Too much Gabriel for me, but to each their own). A Trick of the Tail has some great moments, but I recommend Selling England By the Pound as the one to start out with. Very very very good. The best, actually. ^_^

Okay, I receive a bunch of helpful advice. Unfortunately, the answers to my questions were usually depressing. I am now planning to get a Home Stereo CD- R. They are much easier to operate. Sure they are for Audio only, but that is what I was planning to use it for anyway. The data storage would have just been a bonus.

So here is my new question? I saw a Philips CD-RW Home Stereo Unit for $599 and a Pioneer CD-R Home Stereo for $1599. Why would a CD-R only be $1,000 more than a CD-RW unit?

Can anyone give me some brands and prices to consider for Home Stereo CD-R units? I think I will be much happier with these.

Oh, one thing that may make me go with the CD-R for computer. I heard that you can make a 74 minute CD-R in less than 74 minutes because you aren't actually copying audio, but digital bytes representing audio. So you don't need to make the copy in real time. Is this true? And not just in theory. Have you been able to do this?

    Thanks.

I would start with Foxtrot, mainly because it contains Supper's Ready, a 24 minute opus. It also contains Watcher Of The Skies, one of the greatest songs ever made. If you dug that, then you should grap Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

While you're at it, you can pick up the new one, Calling All Stations. It features Ray Wilson on vocals, and it's a classic.

    Hello evryone,

:My first post on the jam, but ive been reading for a while. i think this happens to a lot of people: you sign on to the list, you start reading, and you never really feel the urge to post, because sooner or later someone will post exactly what you wanted to say. anyway, the ytsejam has become a form of passive entertainement for me, it beeing funny, stupid, or informative, or just plain boring. but enough of that.

i went and bought LTE today, it is an awsome record. (just listening to Freedom of Speech, wonderful, dont you love how it builds up?) anyway, i have this weird problem:

between all the tracks there are two second gaps. two seconds of silence, wish is ok, but NOT in 3 min warning: the music just stops for two seconds when the track changes. ive run the CD on three diferent players and my computer and its the same thing everywhere. ANYBODY ELSE have this problem? i cant imagine this was intended.

Here's a good write-up on the Japanese 'Hollow Years' single:

Dream Theater- Hollow Years + 2 / Japanese edition of single from their 1997 album 'Falling Into Infinity'. Features all four cuts from the European edition, plus live versions of "Burning My Soul" & "Another Hand/ The Killing Hand", both recorded at Birch Hill Night Club at Old Bridge, New Jersey on December 14, 1996. Six tracks total, also including two versions of "Hollow Years" (Radio Edit & LP Version) and the non-album tracks "The Way It Used To Be" & "You Or Me" (You Not Me - Demo Version). Also contains a fold-out insert with English lyrics to all five songs...........$19.99

This is from RPM Records at: www.rpmrecords.com

It's listed under the 'Just in!' section.
