That's not a legal email address, looks more like a URL :-)

If you had followed the thread, you would have noticed I was talking about
the European version of LTE, which has 2-second gaps/ cut-offs at the end of
_every_ track, including the 5 tracks of "3 minute warning", I wasn't talking
about the _1_ gap in 3-minute warning (which appears in all versions, and
    which I
    don't mind, of course).

about a month ago, a friend of mine brought me a copy of his sample tape
from the namm show. The story I hear on this guy is that he's Tony
Mcalpine's protogee & that they formed Metropolis Records together.... His
Album THE QUEST can be purchased directly from him at Damir Simic Shime,
3940 Laurel Cnyn Bivd #276, Studio City Ca. 91604, for $15 or you can
even e-mail him at shime@ktb.net It's definatly worth getting, with guest
apperance by Mcalpine himself and has ricky riccardo on bass & mike terrana
on drums ... Also the new Symp X is by far the best thing I've heard in a

na, i like the fact that derek gets into the music, when i first saw DT with
kev live the whole band looked bored, then when i saw them with derek before
he was an official member, they seemed to take a few steps and actually move a
little, but when i saw them both times this tour, they all looked happy, they
were really into the music, and the crowd was so much more into the music.

Somebody isn't paying attention before flaming again... several
people, including this post, have stated that the European version of
LTE has been mastered differently, and has full 2 second gaps between
every song on the CD, unlike the US version of it, which was mastered
differently, has no 2 second gaps, only the the gap b/c of the tape
    running out.

I feel your pain. :) The wait for huge CD orders can seem like an eternity. I've ordered from The Laser's Edge quite a bit, and while I've never had to wait nearly that long, I have experienced a few quirks. With an order as large as yours, Ken may have had a difficult time getting all your CDs in stock. Did you specify any alternates? I have noticed that Ken's stock is not as good as it used to be, probably because LE is gaining in popularity. My most recent orders contained as many alternates as main selections, which wasn't the case when I first started ordering from him. Despite this, I've always received my CDs quickly. I undoubtedly would not have if I hadn't specified quite a few alternates. Good luck.

    1. Terry Bozzio. I've heard this guy mentioned from time to time, but never in comparison with other drummers. (Before you say "that's because drummers are more open-minded and complacent than guitarists" let me say MARK ZONDER VERSUS MIKE PORTNOY, RING ANY BELLS??) I have Vai's "Sex & Religion" but I've never heard much else by or about Bozzio, least of all in discussions about popular musicians. Most of the time it's like Bozzio is in a class by himself or something. I'd like to know what the drummers on this list think of Terry Bozzio and where (if at all) he fits in with the Weckl/Peart/Zonder/Portnoy heirarchy of skilled progressive metal drummers, if he can be considered progressive. BTW, does he really do four beats at once with each limb doing separate tempos?

    2. John Galt. Who is John Galt?

    3. www.vai.com. There are guitar lessons there now. What I want everyone to pay attention to is how much Vai gets across without tablature or notation. This is a man who can explain things with such clarity that you can learn about the guitar and its potential sounds without seeing any techniques written down on paper. I think there are one or two tablatures in that "from 1985" section, but I found it very refreshing that someone could actually explain so much about physical applications using just words.

    4. Fast track. What is a fast track? Something to improve the speed of a guitarist or something to entertain really energetic gerbils?

    5. Re: "Cherone sounds like other Van Halen vocalists." Listen to "Money" from Pornograffitti. The first time I heard the spoken prayer in that song, I thought it was David Lee Roth on guests vocals, seriously. "AFFOWD my roll to keep!!" Phonetic attitude, baby! Beefcake! BEEFCAAAAKE!!

    6. Randquote. Randquote is a devious IRC function set in motion by the twisted and capricious ytse-powers that be. It provides an endless font of tastless humor that is often completely unnecessary, unexpected, chaotic and volatile all at once. Let me be the first to say I LOVE IT. Well I went down to Utah for the weekend to visit my brother who has LTE.= I liked it more after one listen than after the first listen of any other C= D that I've ever heard. My favorite is the ending of track #8. *snicker*

Anyway, we discovered that there isn't a single copy of LTE in the greate= r SLC area, so now I'm just ordering it over the web. I can't even say how cool this CD is.

In the paper down there I found a really cool article about the band "Our Lady Peace." They were quoted as saying something like "We conceive all these ideas but we never have them realized because of our musical limitations, but we're doing the best we can." You have to respect 'em f= or saying it, but it pisses me off that people will still buy a band's CD if they know that the music on the CD isn't what the artist wishes could be = on it.

I find that when a good guitarist is playing a slower passage, I enjoy it much more than when a bad guitarists plays it, because I know that they'r= e playing slow because they want to, not because they have to.

Anyway, I feel better now. :P

Get high on ether when there's no one in the house. Pretend it's the big one the moment you pass out. That's just rehearsal, but it's comforting somehow To practice dying now.

    Bafu Babay.....

I am not a drummer, but after having lived with, supported and been immersed with a drummer and all that is drumming for over 5 years, the one things I can say is BOZZIO IS GOD! I have been priviledged to attend drum workshops and I have a few faves, Portnoy, Smith, Peart, Castronovo, Phillips, but damn Bozzio has some chops. You are right, he doesn't quite fit in with any other genre of drummers, yet if you ask some of those guys I mentioned (and I asked a couple of them when I met them) they all have respect for Mr. Bozzio. He has such a diverse background...Zappa, UK, Missing Persons, Jeff Beck, Vai, BLS,...shall I go on? Every project or group he has been involved in has been quite different from the next. I have seen Bozzio play and sometimes it does appear that all his appendages are being used to play his kit. He IS in a class all by himself. He truly is a talent to behold. If you would like some recommendations as to other bodies of his work....try UK Danger Money, any Missing Persons, Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop, of course BLS. Also see if you can get a hold of one of his instructional videos. Sit back and prepare to be blown away. I was. Of course I am awaiting Explorer's Club, Age of Impact with baited breath. >

yea i've seen the lessons they are great, i'm very glad he didnt use tabs like crazy like most guitarists do. tabs have their uses, but i think that tab is the fall of the guitar as a musical instrument, too many people don't bother learning anything about musical notation just because they can have something tell them where to put their fingers on the guitar. i started playing guitar reading music, then about 6 months into that i discovered tablature. it was great, but i stoped using notes to learn the songs i wanted to learn. after 3 or 4 years of tabs, i decided to start back with sight reading, it bacame harder, but i guess if you work at it, it gets easier.
