Psychotic Waltz is from San Diego, CA. They've been around here for a LONG
time, opening for national bands when they stopped here. They opened for
Fates Warning on the No Exit tour. Their sound is like a mix of old Fates
and Jethro Tull, but more towards Fates. Very cool band.

Well, while on a mini-ytsecon trip in the Boston area recently, someone
suggested we go, and leave as soon as DT is done playing....
While I love DT and I really REALLY love seeing them play long sets in
small clubs where I can SEE the band members (Oh, OH PETRUCCI PETRUCCI!
<=-for Sarah), DT will hopefully be raking in CD sales and such from the
summer tour. We want to hear their next album sometime, yeah, but they
need money to produce it, right? :p
On an NDTC topic, I got a new wah pedal, and I LOVE it! The NEW Morley
VAI-01 with adjustable time-off kicks ass!
Now all I need is a new bridge for my guitar and an effects processor....
Oh wait...I need talent too....

Personally, I LOVE Innocence Faded! I think it's one of the best songs
in Awake (after Scarred and the "A Mind Beside Itself" trilogy).
JP's guitar playing in that song simply RULES, and the final solo
section is one of the craziest things I've heard. I hope some day I will
be able to play the whole song in the guitar (by now, I can only play
some parts... that means, every part until the damn solo. :) ).

"Live in Deutchland" is great- video and CD. it's various tracks from SMI and SMII...the CD can be gotten for $15 or $17, and the video for $25.
you can order all of their CDs from the band for $15-17ea + s/h. stay away from CDNow when it comes to Saviour Machine. SM is still pretty much indie in the states. they have small distribution through Diamante Distribution based in SoCal, but that's only through the christian market. but, anyway, the best way to get their stuff is through the SM address above, and you know that the band gets all of the money. Eric Clayton himself fills all of the orders. he's a really cool guy. i've met him twice, and got him to sign my original German issue of SMII (the white cover- only 1000 made).

Damn good quality, the video is quite interesting... Eric is a madman with that jewel on his head... and his vocals tear up live, this is one band that sounds just as or more powerful live as they do on CD.

That's the whole thing they tried to avoid, songs with more substance and less of a wank-fest... They wanted to create a certain mood on the album, which they have achieved well, and which gives Behind a good coherency. It seems you have not listened to the album enough...
If you want wank, listen to Watchtower, Sieges Even, Cynic... and soon you'll be able to bask in the technical spoogefest called Spiral Architect which destroys any previous attempts at over-the-top-technical-no-4/4-beats- whatsoever-spin-your-head-with-time-changes-and-key-changes metal.

I know, I know. I never post, this subject has been beaten like a dead horse, and I'm not the most high profile member of this list. BUT, I just recently came to a conclusion regarding things such as this.
If a member (in this case, Mr. Derek Sherinian) of a band (ah hell, you know who) you're quite fond of mentions that that they are a big fan of a particular artist/group (Marilyn Manson) and that piques your interest in actually checking them out, great. Should you decide that you didn't enjoy what you heard, you can always sell it to *some* used CD shop or someone who does want it.
What bothers me (and I'm pretty sure a few others) is those who automatically expect that they should like it, just because a member of the aforementioned band (or other fans of the band) enjoyed it.
Only *you* should decide if you like it or not.
I, myself, do not enjoy Marilyn Manson, and a great deal of bands (Empty Tremor, Symphony X, Metallica, Altura, Rudess/Morgenstein Project, etc..)
Was all of this ranting really worth it?
Probably not. People do what they want, and will continue doing so until they cease to exist.
P.S. I still haven't bought LTE yet. nyah. :)

This is the latest statement from Magna Carta regarding the mismastered Euro-version of the Liquid Tension Experiment CD.

Magna Carta is aware of a manufacturing problem with a limited number Liq= uid Tension Experiment CD=92s whose source is the pressing plant which was us= ed in Germany, Berlin Optical Disc. We felt as if we had provided foolproof materials to them which would have made for the easy duplication of this release with no possibility of manufacturing errors. But Berlin Optical D= isc outsmarted us. They somehow found a way to completely ruin the excellen= t mastering job that had already been completed when we handed them the fin= ished product. BOD managed to insert 2-second pauses at every index mark. Apparently no one at the BOD plant checked the quality control of the wo= rk once the CD=92s were produced. They also did not provide Magna Carta a co= py of the finished work. This error has resulted in a disruption of the music = on the disc. Magna Carta was made aware of the problem by one of our Europea= n distributors and we have made swift moves to correct the problem. =20
As a result, a new version is currently on its way to the stores. This corrected version will have the matrix number MAXX9023 on the CD itself. = The only way to see this number is to flip the CD over and look at the playin= g (unprinted) side. Toward the center of the CD you will see a series of nu= mbers and letters. The mismastered CD=92s will have MAX9023; the correct versi= on will have a double X in the matrix number : MAXX9023)
When you play the corrected CD, there should be no gaps or pauses during = the song "Three Minute Warning". =20
Magna Carta is attempting to solve this unfortunate situation through our European distributors and the stores where the defective CD=92s may have = been sold. This may take some time but, rest assured, =20 exchanges will be made on all defective discs. There are two ways this = may be accomplished:
1)You may exchange the CD at the store where you purchased it (Be certain= to check that the replacement CD has the new matrix number on it: MAXX9023) = =20
2) You may send your defective disc (just the CD itself, no jewel case o= r book) to: Magna Carta Attn: "Liquid Tension CD=94 208 East 51st St, Ste 1820 New York, NY 10022 USA
Magna Carta feels sorry for the fans who have been inconvenienced due to = this situation. We will make sure that everyone who feels that they have rece= ived a defective Liquid Tension Experiment CD gets the corrected CD in exchan= ge. To the guy wondering about Death and any other jammers who care:
Yeah they are back together. The Control Denied album may be released, but it's sketchy...anyway, the new drummer is a virtually unknown guy by the name of Richard Christy, who plays in an unsigned Tampa death metal band by the name of Burning Inside. I can honestly say they are the best unsigned death metal band I've ever heard, and the drummer is fucking INCREDIBLE! If you're into Sean Reinert's (Death, Cynic, Working Man tribute) playing, be forewarned, Richard loves Sean's playing, and was very influenced by him. However, he's a LOT more aggressive, and ALMOST as good technically. In Burning Inside, he plays lots of blasts and stuff, but I doubt that he will do so in Death...according to Steve DiGiorgio, the new record will in a way be a lot more like ITP/Human...he says it's good, but just not quite the same. I have faith though, Death have never disappointed me...Anyway that's about all the info I've gathered...I was planning to talk to Chuck a month or so ago at this show in Tampa, but they never showed up. Anyway...take care. The record should be out by August.
