If a store has 10 FIIs in stock, that means that 10 FIIs HAVEN'T been
sold. Yes, they have been bought by the record store; no, they have not
been sold to the public. Sales to the public are what are what
is reflected on Billboard charts since Billboard has adopted SoundScan.
Gold and platnium records are awarded on the basis of records sold, not
shipped. I assumed when the original post referred FII doing better than
I&W in terms of sales, he/she/it was referring to sales to public.

Just because a store orders 500,000 copies, that does not mean that the
album will sell 500,000 copies. That's why record companies have what is
called a "reserve" fund, which basically holds back a portion of the
artist's royalties until it has been determined how many albums have been
returned to the company as unsold.

Well, some NDTC for the sake of making DTC... I am in the process of
making a b-side DT CD for myself, and I wanted to take the Real Audio
files of Where Are You Now and Raise The Knife and turn them into wav
files so that I can burn them onto a CD... and I am not sure how to
do this... as far as I can tell, I can't convert a RA to a WAV. Can
anyone help? I think that the Real Player Plus has record, but will
only save as a RA, which is, of course, useless... Any help is
appreciated... (also, please don't ask for a copy of the CD, there is
alot of real, official material that I am putting on here, and am not
going to sell it, as it is DT's own official releases)

    Hello JAmmers:

I recently borrowed a 2-cd boot from a friend (boy do I wish this was mine !) to dub and it just blew my mind how good this one sounded. It is put out by Livestorm , and is entitled simply "Milan 1993". It was recorded at Palasesto- Milan, Italy on November 15th , 1993.....I was curious if this boot had other names by other makers, etc. It has Afterlife and Only a Matter of Time, as well as Eve and the FULL version of Learning to Live....This one has absolutely outstanding quality ! I was curious if this was the same show as Dance of Eternity (heard of it but don't know the date), or whatever otherboot shares this date....

    Thanks. Tom

Hi All, reading Jams, and a question about Neils Bohr came up. Bohr developed a model of the atom much like we think of the planets, where the sun is the nucleus and the planets are the electrons, rotating around. his model has been modified, and, using computers, mathematical equations, and the Uncertaintly Principle (thanks, Heisenberg!), we have the current model, an "electron cloud", where the electron is seen as being at any point in the "cloud" at any time. kind of a condenced version, what I've learned from about 5 years of chemistry (2 in high school....Regents and AP, and 3 in college. now I'm a Psych major!) I know, no Dream Theater content, but I had to. for more stuff about Bohr, if you're in college, ask an engineer, biology major, or chemistry major. all else fails, ask a professor. or the encyclopedia.

I was in my local Tower records and I saw a few of these Yngwie albums that I hear about so much on this list. I saw a guitar tab book of some album called Fire and Ice...and this boy seems to play insanely fast. Since there are hardly any sound samples around (although I haven't looked too hard), I just may as well shell out some cash and get an album. I was wondering what y'alls' opinions were as to what the "best" Yngwie album there is out there... I've never heard of any of his music...so any information is appreciated. Keep in mind I'm more of a heavy metal fan. :> Ya can email me if you don't want to waste space on the list. Thanks! Chris.

And Robert Fripp would probably cringe at the fact that you are labeling KC. He has gone out of his way to make sure that he isn't lumped into a group. He is very experimental. You are correct that KC has nothing to do with blues or jazz. (or with anything else for that matter.) DT is a little different animal, though. The roots leading back to blues are there. Sure, the direct roots aren't there, but there is influence.

I love their live stuff. "Live @ Red Rocks" is an amazing album. They flow from song to song with such ease, much the same way DT has been doing lately. "Crash" has a much looser feel than "Under The Table....," which is more song-structure oriented. I like 'em both. As for there jazz influences, I somewhat agree. It's more apparent in the live stuff. They do a lot of improv, but they're not just extending solos for 20 minutes. You can actually hear them listening to and echoing each other's melody lines. So it has that jazz influence (as does LTE). But the music itself is far from jazz.

Btw- Hearing Dave M. sing a snippet of John Denver's "Sunshine On My Shoulders" on "Live At Red Rocks" is worth the price of admission alone.

Emerson Lake and Palmer. They were and are one of the greatest progressive bands of all time. Keith Emerson is their keyboardist, Greg Lake is their Bass player and lead vocalist, and Carl Palmer is their drummer. Their first gig was in 1969 at the British Isle of Wite concert, where they did a rock version of Mussorski's "Pictures at an Exhibition." In addition to doing some of the most original progressive pieces of all time, they've also dismembered many established classical pieces including "Fanfare for the Common Man," Copelands "Rodeo," Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet," Holst's "The Planets," and "West Side Story." Their biggest hits were "Lucky Man" in 1971, "Karn Evil 9" in 1974, and "Paper Blood" in 1992. If your looking for a good ELP album to get, try "Brain Salad Surgery," "Trilogy" "ELP" or "Black Moon." They also have a ton of live releases. I'd suggest the 1992 "Live at the Royal Albert Hall" concert disc over all the others.

They are currently on the "Rhino" label. Check them out, they're cool. Also, you can find reviews of most of ELPs catalogue on Mark Prindle's record review site www.users.interport.net/~aske He also has a DT review or two in his "guest reviews" section.

actually, that's not the case. When Atlantic sold ATCO records to Elektra, the name was changed to EastWest - so DT is on Eleketra, not Atlantic.

All the newspapers in Sweden has slagged it of as rubbish! They were playing on swedish television TV1 yesterday and i think that they repeted the chorus to many times, so you get really bored.

Probably i'm going to buy the album anyway as i've always been a collect= or of Iron Maiden. But if you're not a collector, i think it's better to avoid buying the album before you've heard it.
