In a message dated 98-05-13 00:04:18 EDT, you write:

<< Don't worry about the moshing, because if it's anything like last time
at HoB, there will be none. If people try, we shall have to kick their
ass. Correct me if I'm wrong, but attempting to absorb the intracies of
Myung's bass wizardry is complicated by having some asshole coming
at you elbow-first at 20mph. IMHO, moshing of the usual brainless,
full-contact variety simply has no place at a DT concert. >>

Ya moshing at a DT concert sucks, i would love to stand in the front and watch
DT do there thing im not a very big guy so its hard for me to kick ass. If
you all want to mosh there is a Slayer concert on May 30th at the Palace, we
    can bang heads there.

    Hey All ....

Just wanted to talk about a couple of things and to update
people on the state of certain things, etc.

I went through and did all the ytsejam administration this
morning and we currently have about 1200 people on the list. Not too
shabby, especially since alot of people have unsubbed because of the
amount of data/lack of content lately.

Second, because I don't want to have to spend hours running
through all unsubs, IF YOU ARE LEAVING SCHOOL, please please please
please please please UNSUBSCRIBE! I just sent a message on how to do
this. If you have problems, mail me (skadz@dreamt.org). I don't want
the middle of june to roll around and start getting a ton of user over
    quota messages.

Third, I will say this once and only once. If anyone ever
posts a private email conversation to this list, you will be unsubbed
immediately, no questions, comments, etc. I will immediately remove
you from the list and block you from ever posting again. After the
two recent incidents of this happening, I don't want to see it again.

Fourth, if you see some dumbass post something which is
obviously not content for this list (like our nice friend today),
E-MAIL ME (skadz@dreamt.org). I will take care of it. I am gonna try
and keep up on the list, but it is hard with my schedule, so if you
see this type of shit, tell me. Also, DON'T start shit on the list
and bitch to the person. E-Mail me. The amount of posts back to this
asshole today was RIDICULOUS!!!!!! You should have all listened to
Graham (wow, i don't believe i just said that).

    more later

Well, I told family and friends that it was because she was a homophobe and a bigot and I just couldn't reconcile that <which was true>, and I told my buddies that it was because she wasn't any good in bed <which wasn't true>, but I think deep down that WAS the real reason. :)

Basically she treated me like crap. Like, really. she used to hit me and stuff. It didn't hurt me physically because I'm a big strong man :) but I got sick of it. Plus, she obviously only cared about my appearance and how we looked together and especially how being with me made her look. Plus, she didn't like my long hair. Feh!

I believe that FOR ME I get along with people based on what kind of music we like. she hated my musicand I hated hers, therefore we didn't get along.

    > Ok, I'm not really in the know here. Who knows anything about this concert > ? do all three bands have equal billing, or does one(ours) open for the > other two? Also, how much are tickets, and where in LI is jones beach, is > it off the LIE and if so which exit, blah blah blah?

    Equal billing? HA!

No, serious ly. I think it's a double bill w/ dp/elp with dt opening. Of course, a dt opening set will probably be at least an hour <I hope>.

I have one question...WHO THE HELL DIED AND MADE YOU KING OF THE YTSEJAM???? There's a little thing called scrolling up and down that brings you to the messages you want to read. And it's not OUR fault that your hard drive is too puny to handle a few pieces of text. damn, it always seems that whenever good and/or fun discussions start in mailing lists, someone has to post, say "hey, that's wrong and it's wasting my time" and screw it all up.....

I will be easy to spot. 5' 10" 200+ wearing a DT touring into infinity shirt and hat. Don't worry, I'm not the guy in Bafu's Daytona horror story, I'm 4 inches taller, and a wee bit lighter. Wow! DT kicked some major ass in Detroit. I couldn't have asked for a better concert! Even Full On The Mouth was good (in my opinion). They had pretty good sound quality, and they were pretty interactive with the crowd. I was surprised to see they actually had a real drummer instead of a drum machine. Anyway, after FOTM left, they did play some rare DT stuff, but I only recognized some since I couldn't hear it that well. Then they played Rooster by Alice In Chains, and everyone was singing along with it, so the tech guys turned it up! Then ACOS kicked in. Man, did this concert kick ass. By far the best concert I've ever been to. Unfortunately, I didn't stay after the show (had to get back to Grand Rapids for work tomorrow...err, later today). Some of the funny things that happened was that someone next to me mentioned how the lead singer of FOTM looked like Sammy Hagar, and that the DT roadie looked like Dana Carvey. Definitely some resemblances! I also noticed some guy that looked like he was 60 years old, with some 50s doo-wop hair style jammin' in the balcony. Man, there sure were an older group than most concerts I've been to. Well, gotta go. I think I've convinced my girlfriend that DT are the masters of their instruments! That drum solo was awesome, and ofcourse, Petrucci's playing really kicked ass. I noticed that he only moves his pick really fast, as opposed to most guitarists (that I've seen) use more of their arms in the motion. It makes it look like Petrucci isn't trying that hard. Taken from Mike Marshall's letter:

    >> I guess I am still adapting to the idea that a prog >> song can be in 4/4 all the way through.

    > For a particular song to be 4/4 throughout, and be > considered "prog", would be tough. But stack it up > against the artist's body of work, and see where it > fits.

Regardless of what other people (i.e. Graham Boiled) think about me, I'm going to write something (GAAAAH!)... >:-)

IMO, PF's "Echoes" stinks *prog*. 4/4 all the time. And it doesn't really "fit" with the image of the album ("Meddle"), does it? I mean, every song there is different. BTW, anyone else except me who really loves this song?

Everything doesn't have to be in 9/8 ("Erotomania") or 13/8 ("Tom Sawyer") or the like to be *prog*. But you all knew that, didn't you?

To mr Skadz - am I sending that Winmail.dat-shit again? I've tried to get rid of it, but I'm not sure on how to do it. :-|

Check out anything by the Beastie Boys and don't miss out on Anthrax's "Attack Of The Killer B's". On the latter you'll find some really sick shit they did with Public Enemy ("Bring The Noise / Bring Tha Noize") and "I'm The Man '91", co-written with Beastie Boys that time.

Just pointing out the obvious, that's all.

Sure! It's a great album. I think it's a lot better than the live tracks on ACOS, basicly since they play DT songs. It also sounds live! A bonus is two songs from WDADU with James Labrie on vocals (A Fortune in Lies becomes a killer!) and the new intro to Killing Hands.
