    POSSIBLE SPOILERS

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS

    POSSIBLE SPOILERS

If you're going to a DT show soon, and want to be surprised, you may not want
    to read this! SKIP IT

This isn't really a "review" so to speak, just sort of an after show blurb....
DT never ceases to completely amaze me! I am so glad
I made it to that show last night, these guys are in my opinion the best band
on this planet! Once again they give 110%

I am completely baffled by the way they manage to open with the first half
of ACOS, then do a couple hours worth of everything else, and in the middle
of a song hours later pick up right where they left off in ACOS at the
    start of the show.
    DAMN!

Mike is an absolute ANIMAL on the drum kit. It is as though his limbs
    instinctively
brush every piece of the kit that they pass at just the right time, like
    some sort of
eight-armed artist painting on an array of canvases in double time. This
    guy is unreal!

James was a POWERHOUSE. His vocals were awesome to say the least, and he
hit some of the most intense / extended high's I have ever heard. He was
    made for DT.

Derek was UNEARTHLY. He seemed sort of in a world of his own, like an alien
    suspended
in some sort of virtual fish tank floating in front of his keyboards, the
    notes shifting his flow
as fingers seemed to roll across the keys to create killer sounds. Excellent.

Myung was the bass MASTER. This was the first chance I *really* got to
    watch his
fretwork, and I cant believe how easy he makes it look. His double handed
    fretboard
technique was so clear and solid, and I could feel so much of the bass that
    my attention
was constantly being drawn back to him.

Petrucci...holy shit...can you say CONTROL and SPEED? When they ripped out
    a piece
off of LTE I thought my eyeballs were going to explode. John's hands
    provided an endless
array of guitar acrobatics that left my jaw hanging, all combined with a
    true knowledge of
the notes and where to go with them. I wish I was even half the player he
    is...

The place (Annies) was a really cool club, but the stage is way too small
    and too
short. Unless you're at the railing surrounding the stage area, or standin
    on a table,
you don't see much of the stage. The stage was like sticking the band in a
    shoebox,
barely room for Mike's flailing arms. The sound was good if you stayed in
    the center
or toward the back. I will definitely consider going to this club again,
    lots of room for
the crowd to spread out and easy to get beverages. All in all I had a
    kick-ass time!
    Dream Theater rules! :)

    Do where thing? ;-)

I'm not entirely sure that Just Let Me Breathe or Burning My Soul (let
alone a lot of other Dream T. songs) were written for people to stand and
watch. Just do what you feel fitting and if moshing's it, go for it. (I
doubt anybody find h??self moshing to Anally - Anna Lee - but I certainly
had a neck injury during the first half of Lines In The Sand and at the
end of Peruvian Skies. Now I'm thinking with my spinal cord instead of
    brains and it shows.) :-)

It's drunk and senseless moshing that should be forbidden.

Then again, I'd neuter those bungholes who spend the entire gig smoking -
without even asking whether I mind, which I do - and blowing smoke puffs
    arrogantly wherever they go.

Let it be known that on the 12th day of May in the year 1998 that Dream
Theater paid a visit to the fine town of Detroit to play a show that will
    never be forgotten. My review:

Well I got to the show early as I had nothing better to day. Met up with
Partha and Joe and Mark Hannah. The doors opened only 7 minutes late,
which is a nice change compared to the usual hour and a half.

    Full on the Mouth:
I don't really have an opinion on them. I didn't like them, nor
did I hate them, they were just there, taking up time. They come from
Flint, which isn't far from here, so they a few people who came out just
to see them. There was some pit action going on them. They were a bit
more poppy sounding than I thought it would be.

    Dream Theater:
It sounds like show was very similar to the Cincy one, but here is
    the setlist anyways:

            ACOS 1 & 2
            JLMB
            BMS
            TTT/Freebird/Hot For Teacher/Moby Dick
            Anna Lee
            LITS
            CIAW w/Drum Solo
            Lie
            PS/Have A Cigar/Enter Sandman
Guitar Solo w/Paradigm Shift (this rocked!)
            PMU
            TOT
            Encore Medley

The crowd was really well behaved for DT up until the encore medley when
a big pit started. They played the Metropolis part of the medley, and
then came Nicky Lemons with "I Don't Like You!" It was hilarious! DS
kept pulling the feathers out of his boa and throwing them to the crowd.
Then I think they did part of Cupid's Dead (not sure thought) and then the
LTL part, ending with ACOS 7 and the AFIL teaser. But they didn't feel
like stopping just yet. They kept on with One featuring MP singing the
"Darkness, imprisoning me..." parts, then Smoke on the Water, and then
finishing with Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" once again featuring MP on vox.

    Highlights:
The whole damn thing! This was so much better than the last show.
I think the "Hasselhof" look works for JLB. When MP and JP played
Paradigm Shift, my jaw just dropped. In PMU, DS kept passing his
sunglasses back and forth to his roadie. DS and MP were playing catch
with the drumsticks during the end Lie solo. I'm sure there was more, but
I gotta go to sleep soon before I faint. Bye.

I had the same experience. I bought the $12 models and I thought wow these are great. I can hear the show much better than with the foam. Reason - they weren't doing ANYTHING. I had ringing in my ears for quite a while - not a week though. I think you either buy cheap foam and deal with the spectrum loss - or you plunge into the custom fit $100+ models. End of story.

Anyone else disagree - cuz I'd sure like to agree that I'm wrong.

    Good Day,

I need your help. You may know me as the president of NBCI.Net, host of Entrepreneur Radio Network for two years on Denver radio or as a father to my two small sons (10 months and 6 years) and husband to my wife of 8 years.

If I am correct about the kindness of people, willing to help others in a difficult situation, then I know you will help me by reading this message and considering doing what I ask. I want to show you something that has helped defend my family's legal rights and I believe can help you too. Simply know that if you should choose to look at what I have here and try it, you will be helping my company. A good company, with good people who, like you, work very hard.

I signed up for the Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. Extended Family Plan to protect my family's legal rights last August and decided to sign up the two companies I operate for Small Business Plans in March of this year. I was so impressed by the plans, the company and the services that I decided to represent them as an Independent Associate to help people.

Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. is a 26 year old, publicly traded firm on the American Stock Exchange. Its founder, Harland Stonecipher, was an Insurance professional who had a serious automobile accident. While his insurance covered his car and hospitalization costs, it did not cover the expense of a law suit from the driver of the other vehicle who received the ticket. He started Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. in Ada Oklahoma to ensure that people would have affordable access to the legal system. As the company matured, it enhanced existing products and created new products to help individuals, small businesses and company employees.

Most people don't think that they need an attorney. What folks don't understand is there are so many things that require an attorney's attention to do properly. I understand that somewhere between 80-90% of American's don't have a Will.

Have you ever signed contracts you regretted signing later, dealt with suppliers who did not treat you fairly, or worse, people like home contractors who totally ignored your needs when you had a complaint? What could you do. Like me, you probably just took it and moved on.

Imagine if you could have consulted with an attorney, without the meter running, to find out what your rights were. Wouldn't it have been even easier and perhaps more effective if an attorney had made calls or written letters on your behalf?

Of course, the reason I chose not to seek legal advice in past situations was because of attorney retainers and fees, which had to be paid to get these things done.

For what I would have paid for two hours of an attorney's time, I now have access to the services I mentioned above and much more for an entire year through a top rated Denver law firm. Now, an extensive nationwide network of thousands of attorneys and top rated law firms protects me here in Colorado and when I travel anywhere else in the country.

Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. offers a series of plans: - The Expanded Family plan - Small Business Legal Defense Plan - And a group benefits program that offers legal plan group discounts to employees

While plans and availability vary from state to state, here in Colorado, we enjoy the benefits of the most complete offering of plans and coverage.

I need about 15 minutes of your time, you may or may not be interested in the plans, but I would like to show you the plan personally. If you live in a state that offers the Motor Vehicle Legal Services title and have teenage drivers living at home who have never been married, you simply must take a few moments to see this.

Please reply to this e-mail message or contact me at (303) 210-6454 to speak with me directly.

    Sincerely,

Alan Maitland Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. Independent Associate

I saw the show at Cincinatti on Monday and have to say that the show was awesome!

Some points of interest. I noticed that for most of the show, the keyboards were not loud enough. Other than that, the mix was pretty good although JL was very frustrated at his monitor setting during the first song!

I don't like DS's stage presence. He looks like he's cocky. Maybe he's not but he looks like he's posing. Hey Derek! This isn't Milly Vanilly. We really don't care if you are wearing sunglasses on your head or not!

I stood right behind the sound booth. Great spot. Stood too long. There were no seats at Annie's.

There was a pretty good crowd but not what I'd like to see for a band of this talent. This gets me to wondering.

Considering all of this talk about DT selling out, isn't DT a lot more popular in Japan? I was wondering if they make up the for the small venues in the US by playing over there.

No shitty attitude Nick, just getting to the point. >Don't expect a list of 1000+ people to cater >to your every whim, and don't expect to get anywhere with a shitty attitude. I don't expect MY whims to be catered to. I just expect a list NAMED 'YSTEJAM' to be ABOUT those things which REFER to that genre in general (being DT and other PROG). NOT about bitchy girlfriends. Or OTHER forms of music (of which if I WAS interested, I would go to those lists AND expect them to talk about THOSE other forms, NOT PROG), etc.... which is what 'earthbound, starbound' was saying basically when he replied > (that's self-referential post of the week. i got it from captain nitpick, who is generally an annoying guy, but has a point when people post "Could people please only post jokes?" on rec.humor.) (At least I think it was)

Again, I emphasize, this is SUPPOSED to be a newsletter for FANS of DT and SIMILAR bands to voice views and news. NOTE, I SAID SIMILAR (spock's beard counts in there, KEZCOM )

All I was trying to impart was let's leave girlfriend problems to Rikki Lake, Puff daddy to the 'Rappers-R-Us' jam and insults to Don Rickles online.

I knew that this would get me flamed by those it was directed to. The mere fact that this started yet another inane thread is PROOF of what I was trying to say. I just don't want to see this list degrade to the point that all I read is 'no DTC' on every subject heading. And BTW Carlos, filtering ONLY works IF everyone puts relevent subject headings (which they don't always, if at all) And just so you know, I have both the HD space AND the knowledge (being both a computer engineer and a nuclear health physics technician), CONSIDERING the fact that I was programming when MOST of you were still in diapers.

    NUFF SAID, SAID I
