Hey, all! I finally finished my 12-page paper, and now I'm sitting on my
ass reading 3 days' worth of Ytsejams and waiting to graduate in 3 days!
Digest number 33 of 34 in my inbox miraculously had this post from Robert
Newcomb:
>Does anyone know about a meeting place where we can meet before any of the
>Texas shows? It would be nice to see an apparent endangered species ( A
>Texas Ytsejammer ! ).
Yup! I'm still running the DT in Texas Web Site at
http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/5039/dt.html
I still need some information to make it complete, namely ticket info.
and showtimes/ doors open for Lubbock, places to sleep, and names and
street addresses for meeting places. The tentative ones are already on
the site, but I need more specific info.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Da Boyz in concert. I've even
started on the banner I'm making for them. :) Keep the reviews coming!
And Skadz, it's great to see you paying attention again. ;)

Am I the only lucky one who is dating someone that *enjoys* going with me to
Rush and DT concerts? :) I mean, naturally, it has taken a bit of effort on
my part to turn her away from the dark side, and she still listens to a lot of
crap (her roommate is in a sorority -- no disrespect meant to any sisters on
the list, but 'nuff said. :), but she also listens rather frequently to the
Rush, DT, and general good-progginess mix tapes that I've made for her. Come
to think of it, last time I saw her, we were in my car, and she was singing
along to New Millennium.
I love that woman. :)

Geez did you read Skadz's post about spam ?
I guess you didn't, there is little chance this person is on this

OK, WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?! Are you fucking blind? I have posted TWICE
in the past 24 hours to NOT respond to this kind of shit on the jam.
Most of this kind of shit comes from people who are NOT on the mailing
list (as i have already explained) and who aren't gonna see your
response in the fuckin first place. As I have said (HERE IS TIME
NUMBER THREE SO EVERYONE READ CAREFULLY THIS TIME), if you see this
kind of stuff on the jam, MAIL ME (ME DOES NOT MEAN THE JAM, IT MEANS
ME, SKADZ@DREAMT.ORG) and I will take care of it. If you want to mail
the author, go ahead, BUT DO NOT MAIL THE JAM (THAT MEANS DON'T SEND
MAIL TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS YTSEJAM@AX.COM) about it. All you end up
doing is cluttering up the jam more than the person did in the first
place and the last thing we need is extra clutter. Does anyone NOT
understand this? If you don't mail me privately and I will try and be
a bit more blunt. (AND NO FUCKIN WISE CRACKS, I WON'T BE HAPPY ABOUT
THEM)
(99% of the time I will just mail people about this personally, but
this one just had to be addresses publically)

Definetely a GREAT show, and my ears are feeling it now! As a Cincy native I got down to the club at around 3:00 in the afternoon just to hang out, to bad the band didn't turn out till around 5:00! Anyhow, met some great fans, no Ytsejammers suprisingly (although there were a TON of people from Indy!)! I was Mike P's first drum solo victim on the snare, which was a complete blast, even though I'm a guitar player (don't tell him that)! I would REALLY like a copy of that show if anyone recorded it! I think my free form drumming with Mike went well, although during the Simon Says bit I kind of lost myself there at the end with teh finale, so for that I apologize! Still, I wouldn't take it back for anything in the world, even if my ears are suffering permanent damage since I was right in the way of John P's rig! Too bad there wasn't a meet and greet after the show, I guess the boys were just too tired, although I don't think Derick ever went backstage after the show, I bumped into him at the merchandise booth, which was just a continuation of when we met when he pulled up and asked me where the club was as we were standing right in front of it! Cool guy! Well, that's all from Cincy., I've had three hours sleep (sleeping w/my Portnoy Pro-marks and Petrucci's Jazz 3), and my ears are absolutely screwed (figures the ONE show I don't have plugs at) - So, for everyone that I didn't meet but really wanted to, here's to next time!

Yup! I'm still running the DT in Texas Web Site at http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/5039/dt.html complete with venue information, suggested meeting places, and a sign-up sheet for ppl wanting to catch rides, meet up before the show, and find crashing places, among other stuff. :) Don't forget, this sign-up sheet only works if other ppl. read it frequently and offer help to ppl who need it. Don't let another Damon incident happen in Texas.
I still need some information to make it complete, namely ticket info. and showtimes/doors open for Lubbock, places to sleep (Jammers, hotels, or otherwise), and names and street addresses for the suggested meeting places. The tentative ones are already listed.
I'm really looking forward to the shows and to meeting with everyone I've talked with online. Keep the reviews coming, and I'll keep working on the banner. :) Oh, and Skadz, it's nice to see you're paying attention again. ;)

Well, now I respect the poster's opinion about PS. Maybe I should go back and listen to it again. I love that song, but I am so used to things like Close to the Edge, which to me is one of the prog yardsticks. Maybe my yardstick is a few inches short. Yes, I think it goes without saying that even DT's simplest songs seem to stump the mainstream. You Not Me, the most radio friendly song Dt has ever done, maybe next to HY or AL, didn't do shit on the air. I don't need to say that PS is far better than anything in mainstream music today. That's like saying I love DT when I am on their mailing list.I just don't see it in the same light as LITS, or TOT or NM. And yes, making NM a radio single might be an abortion, but when I first heard it, I thought, "if it weren't so long and have all those prog bits in the middle that I love so much, this would make it on the radio." I actually would've tried to radio edit it if I were still on my college station, using the digital editor in our production labs. I may still try on a reel-to-reel machine with my friend editing. I just wondered if anybody thought the way I did.
