Hey All,
This is a first two posts from me in two days.
Speaking of old jammers speaking up again, does anyone on here remember
back far enough when the message was sent by Kevin Moore's management
(or the like) saying he was leaving the band?
It was kind of surreal - and just didn't seem real - or perhaps I just
didn't want it to be real... :( I took a few 'jams to sink in to the
group I think.
More power to Derek, though I do miss Kevin's writing Lyrics and
music...

Even though I disagree about him not having his own "style", I think I
understand
where you're probably getting your opinion from.
JP's playing is a melting pot of all styles and influences wrapped up into
one in
everything he plays, *just* like Dream Theater themselves. To be honest
with you,
I really think this is one of the major benefits of listening to DT.
In my opinion, if a player can manage to incorporate the heaviness of
Hetfield, the
virtuosity of Morse, the control of Holdsworth, the speed of Vai, the
spontanaeity of
Lifeson, the sweeps of Yngwie, and the suave of DiMeola, all into one
package, then
he indeed has achieved a great new style. The best of all worlds, and a
most well rounded
guitarist.
Psychadelic Bluegrass folks :)
Thanks for sparking that thought Rainer!

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed being a part of this mailing list
for the last few months but I've got to unsubscribe for 3 months or so
while I'm away from my e-mail (It's University based and I don't have

I'll be back in October on the list, plus you'll probably find me during
the next 2 weeks on ICQ or IRC.
Until next time.....

Hey guys!
Does anybody have a nice pic, preferrably JPEG, on your drive? Could you
then please e-mail it to me (nv99701@egymn.tranemo.se)?
I need it for my examination task (or what the hell you say in English) in
MS Powerpoint at school. I've made something about DT, and all I'm missing
is a picture of Kev for his biography screen.
The only picture I've found was a signed ex from the WDADU cover book (was
it on UACM?). I'd really like another one.
I could mail you the finished stuff when I'm done, i.e. if you really want
to recieve 1,5 Mb of things you already know combined with some of my own
silly lies.
Thank you.

Otay, thanks all who responded...
I looked into it, and it turns out that aside from the jones beach show,
there's one at the PNC bank arts center, which is awesome. I saw QR there
last year and it was great. I would go there anyday. And anyone who
wants to complain about not seeing DT in a real venue...shut the fuck up
and GO TO THE PNC BANK ARTS CENTER!!!! You will not be disappointed.
I'll probably go to both shows,if I can.

My cut and paste isn't working....
To the guy who was wondering how the phrase "don't look a gift horse in the
mouth" came about... I wondered this at one point, and the best I could
come up with is that if you're getting free cattle, you shouldn't check the
teeth for disease or age or whatever because hey, it's free. don't
complain. The thing is, that explaination doesn't really jibe with the
meaning that the phrase has, which is more along the lines of "if you
challenge the purpose of this gift, you will lose it."
Put another way, the issue is not WHY the $10 CD offer was presented, but
whether it's a good offer in the first place.
I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

This reminds me of a Fox Trot cartoon I saw once. Jason is standing by
Peter's stereo, hand on the volume knob. Peter is sitting on his bed,
earphones on.
Peter: Go. (Jason turns up the knob)
Louder...louder.....louder.....perfect. (at this point his head is
vibrating from the music's volume)
(seconds later, he takes off the earphones).
Peter: Hey, it worked! My earwax is gone!
Jason: Interesting. Metallica as Q-Tip.
Peter: Did you say something?

Actually, that would be Ron Thal. Where's Madsman when you need him? After
picking up Thal's album "The Adventures of Bumblefoot", I will never look
at a guitar the same way.
Vai's pretty good at it too, though...

Just now waking up from the long trip to Chicago, back down around =

All I can say is that the show was spectacular! For my first time seeing =
DT, it was more than I expected. They are the most musically inclined =
gentlemen I've ever seen, the crowd showed them one of the best welcomes =
I've ever heard, and I think they noticed it also. After hanging out for =
awhile after the show, got to meet, Labrie,Petrucci, and Portnoy, some of =
the nicest guys I've ever met in the music industry, I respect the way =
they handle themselves. (Thanks guys). My highlight was my girlfriend =
getting my SABIAN shirt signed by Mike. It was nice seeing so many =
dedicated fans there also, that's what these guys deserve. We were =
driving home the next day, and stopped at Effingham to eat at =
TGIFridays, and I heard on the speakers some shitty Hanson, and I =
thought to myself, (why does this Hanson music/shit even exist, when we =
