Amen. I don't think targeting the setlist will work, but I'm willing to bet
that if they just play a set that represents the band's work as a whole,
they'll impress *everyone* at the show.

    -----

Another thing I think all the setlist suggesters should consider: Don't
forget what the #1 complaint of no-DT fans is about the band - that they
"overplay" (you know, the old "it sounds like a bunch of guys showing off
how good they are"). If you are going to target the setlist (and I'm not
suggesting here that they *should*), as much as it may offend *our*
sensibilities, you'd have to tone down the musical histrionics.

The danger there is that if you do that, you are no longer presenting DT to
the crowd, you are presenting some watered-down version of DT, and I don't
think anyone really wants that. That's why I believe they should just do
what they do best. If they impress the crowd, fine. If not, it's the
    crowd's loss.

Get the train, that's what we did in December, the Tube Station
is real close, so there's no problem. If you have to drive, get to a
quiet Tube on the outskirts of London somewhere then get the
Underground. That gig's gonna rock you in a big way, it's a pretty
small venue so it feels nice and personal.

            Cheers,

Dave (a UK Jammer now in Alabama).

DTX electronic kits? (should I be asking questions like that? is there
some unwritten law? - be gentle with me.)

    Hi Jammers--
Decided to add my .02 to this old and stupid thread. If James ever left
DT (hope not), I think the best replacement would be this incredible
vocalist by the name of Charlie Dominici. I'm not sure if he's ever been
in any band, but take my word for it, he's good. Although it would
definitely be a change for DT, since his vocals are more in the
death-metal cookie-monster direction. But, he couples that raw and
unbridled growling with the mindblowing power of Russel Allen and Geoff
Tate among others. Plus there would be an age difference between him and
DT, since he is 73 or 74, I think.

That small keyboard geddy had on the test for echo tour could be a nord
lead or a roland jp8000. As for the show of hands version of subdivisions,
I think it is weak precisely for the digital keyboards sounds. And the
solo? Geddy, what were you thinking? muddy, string sounding crap. I like
the minimoog solo and I think the song was built around that sound. And I
still think Geddy should've kept the oberheim and taurus pedals and
minimoog. Wonder if he regrets trading those things in now.

I never claimed that DT should tone down anything. I just point out that elp fans will love the overplaying, if you want to call it that. Look at Keith Emerson. You tell me he doesn't have a flair for the dramatic? And Deep Purple was for its time, a real hardass band. So, the fans of DP may enjoy the heavy side of DT. This may work out great. I think DT should just play acos and metropolis and then leave the stage with everybody wondering what the fuck just hit them. :)

    HEY YTSEJAMMERS!

MTV has this program called TOTAL REQUEST and they play videos that = people request STRICTLY by E-mail. WE ALL KNOW that the DT has a VERY = loyal and ONLINE fanbase. I don't know the full details on how e-mail = address and when things get played, but we NEED to organize SOMETHING. = It would be REALLY cool to end the stupid "replace Labrie" threads and = start a NEW one with THIS topic. =20

Here's the deal: We need to organize a day that we ALL send MULTIPLE = E-mails to MTV's total request e-mail address. We also need to pick a = CURRENT video that DT has made for FII. From what I have gathered, it = takes about ONLY 9000 e-mails to even GET on the countdown! That means = it only takes 900 people to send TEN e-mails in one day...and THAT'S = effortless! If we gather all of our e-mail buddies and friends into = this, I think we can do it! I say we get this planned for a week from = now. =20

Let's start this thread and see if we ytsejammers can ACTUALLY get DT on = MTV!!

Three. Ha. The Bayou, in Washington, DC, many times. Jaxx, too many times to count, but about three weeks either side of the FII show. Daytona's, unfortunately...

I do not think that there are only 6 mellotrons left becasue Anekdoten uses 2 mellotrons, Anglagard uses 3 and Univers Zero also uses the mellotron, too. And they are from different countries. Doesn't that Fripp own 5 mellotrons?

If you listen to at the end of one of the "Mars" (live at Fillmore West) from Epitaph's King Crimson boxset, Ian McDonald gets a lot of weird rattling noises out of the Mellotron. Maybe he knew it was his last gig with Fripp so he was trying to destroy the equipment!

So if you are not with AOL, or can't be at the chat, you'll be able to read the whole thing on "Under A Cyber Moon" next week or so...

For those who are "fortunate" enough to be with AOL, the chat will be from 10 to 12 pm EST (keyword: Nightclub).

What's that????, i think YOU must wash your ears and listen it (not only Holy Land, there's a lot of material waiting to be heard) seriously... i mean, you can't enjoy the real purity of his incredible voice... please, do it and send your comments (REAL COMMENTS, not lies).

Jejejejejeje.... are you nuts????... NOT POWER???????????... i'll try to say it in english (i'm not good for that :-)): You don't know the live power of Matos, it's really impressive... time ago, someone tells that KJLB didn't sing right after two consecutives shows (i don't know, i didn't heard him live, but i don't believe it), jeje, well, i can say that ANDRE MATOS can do it easily!!!!... i saw the 3rd consecutive show of ANGRA here in Argentina (friday, saturday and sunday, i saw them on sunday), and Matos' voice was the same that can be heard in a studio album, same purity and power. I hope you undestand this, because that's the true, not jokes. Think about it. If you wanna power, just get "Freedom Call" and listen to PainKiller ANGRA's version... jeje, what can you say NOW??????? And there's more...have you heard the Wasted Time ANGRA's version??? Iron Maiden must be proud of that!!!!!
