    Greetings Gary!

where others like thee are gathered, I bid thee welcome kind

You know, he's right...sort of. They call it total request, but it's not really total request. What they do is they have a normal top ten and then they get people who have already requested these songs, and show that one the air. Kinda misleading...

However, DT does have a strong online following, and we all can contribute to getting them on MTV.

Here's the beginning's of the plan: 1. Someone find out what the email address is and post it here. 2. Someone (anyone) post that email address to the other mailing lists. 3. EVERYONE start emailing the hell out of MTV. Throw in some catchy phrases to get the email on the air (they always pick the cool sounding ones). 4. Continue to tell everyone you know to start requesting...and don't stop.

    How's that for a plan?

MTV has this program called TOTAL REQUEST

I agree - lets do it - pick the damn song, give me an email address and a time to request it and I am in. Now if they made a damn video to Sinatra's Under a Glass Moon- I bet that would fly on MTV. MTV loves novelties. And the old fart is dead - what timing.

Isn't that all ELP is? Keith Emerson is all about overplaying.

Personally, I think a well-placed cover might rule here. I'm thinking "21st Century Schizoid Man," with Greggy Lake doing a bit of guest vocal action.

I know DP is also on this tour, but I think DT, playing their own natural selves, are definitely in the ELP camp, and should work there.

Oh shit. I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't evaluate the music I listen to. After all he wasn't thinking about me when he sang it. I guess if he thinks it's good it must be. In the future I'll just try to find out what the singer was thinking about at the time, and decide if their singing is good based on that. How silly of me to think I could develop my own opinion.

I say that Andre Matos sounds idiotic and screetchy trying to sound like Rob Halford. I realize that is the point of the remake, but it still sounds laughable.

Don't get me wrong - I love Angra - but they should stick with their own style, and - shock of shocks - people should stop trying to build up their favorite bands by insinuating (or flat-out saying) that the musical tastes and opinions of others are wrong.

There's lots of Brians and Ryans out there...It could be pretty freaky if you happen to catch the whisper late at night, in the dark, and the rain. Or maybe I'm just losing it...

Very cool time chattin with the LTE guys. Mike and John answered a few of my questions. One of which was that I asked John what DiMarzios he uses in his 7-strings.....HE DIDN'T KNOW!!! Probably stock Universe pickups. Mike also answered my question about the last few lines at the end of PMU. He said they're from Shakespear's Hamlet. Someone also instant messaged me the exact words, which I THINK go like this..."oh that this too, too so that flesh will melt." I was in a hurry to get back to the chat, so I closed the IM screen before I could write down the words exactly. If I'm wrong, let me know. I've been wondering about that ending since 92! I swore I wouldn't add to the REplacement Vocalist thread, but I will. One name comes to mind besides the others mentioned: Michael Tangerman, from Superior. He has excellent power and range.

As for Andre Matos, I only have Angra's HOLY LAND (so far), but I have to agree with Ken Golden's review (from Laser's Edge).... Matos ascends well into the stratosphere but never quite to the point of annoyance.

Wasted what? I suppose you mean "Wasted Years" ("Somewhere in Time", = 1986), if not, you're bullshitting.

Being proud of another band playing one's songs is a virtual = impossibility. If I would have been Neil Peart (or Geddy Lee or Al = Lifeson) and someone had done "better" (at least newer) versions of my = songs, I would have gone nuts - my ego IS that big! I love their version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - it was the first time I had actually heard the song (I was about 10 when the Bad News version was released). Whenever I sing the song to myself, I still sing along to that version - especially the 'no no no no absolutely not!' part... pure brilliance, even if it isn't technically as good as the original.

Pity, because I haven't heard the album in many years - I think it was in my brother's car when it got stolen. Or a friend of his borrowed it and never returned it. No copy, anyway, and I can't find it on CD anywhere.

Currently listening to Fates Warning's "Inside Out" - I think I'm starting to be a teensy bit converted... never really cared for any of their stuff, outside of APSOG.

I think you'll get more participation if you include MTV's e-mail address in your plead.

Also, we need to agree on which song to request. I'm not even sure which songs DT has videos for. Burning My Soul?

    HEY YTSEJAMMERS!

MTV has this program called TOTAL REQUEST and they play videos that = people request STRICTLY by E-mail. WE ALL KNOW that the DT has a VERY = loyal and ONLINE fanbase. I don't know the full details on how e-mail = address and when things get played, but we NEED to organize SOMETHING. = It would be REALLY cool to end the stupid "replace Labrie" threads and = start a NEW one with THIS topic. =20

Here's the deal: We need to organize a day that we ALL send MULTIPLE = E-mails to MTV's total request e-mail address. We also need to pick a = CURRENT video that DT has made for FII. From what I have gathered, it = takes about ONLY 9000 e-mails to even GET on the countdown! That means = it only takes 900 people to send TEN e-mails in one day...and THAT'S = effortless! If we gather all of our e-mail buddies and friends into = this, I think we can do it! I say we get this planned for a week from = now. =20
