OK, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I finally found who Michael Romeo "belongs" to. I
heard his solo on the "Working Man" tribute album (the song "Analog Kid",
track 3) and loved it (way better than Lifeson's :) ). I haven't heard any
SX yet, but will shortly, I'm sure (give me a day to get it FedEx'ed from
CDNow). I've been searching for "The Dark Chapter" for months, figuring he
was just a fucking solo artist. God, I'm a moron. :)

Ok, so I've heard some people glorifying this album. I had "Carved in
Stone", and it blew. Any reason why this one is any different?

    And my responce:

HELL YES!!! Tyranny is MUCH better (though I actually liked CiS, I like
Tyranny much more). Tyranny is simply an incrediblly well done album! The
concept is new and performs really well. The sound is unique (though there
are reminants of CiS)... I honestly think this is one of the best albums
of this year. Do get it... you won't regret it.

OK, here we go again. Ytsejammers may remember my "Month o' Love"

personally, i LOVED the fact that James sang that part flawlessly, VERY
    impressive
and to the person who said James range is decreasing, to that i say he's
simply not killing himself every concert, remember, his voice got better again
after going to a specialist to help PRESERVE his voice, and singing so high
and painfully in concert was what was degrading it in the first place
    =)

    Pink Floyd
    Metallica
Megadeth (minus Dave's vox, which she hates, but I love.. **FRICTION

    Tool
Rush (minus Geddy's vox, which she hates, but I love.. **MORE FRICTION**)
    Nine Inch Nails
    Joe Satriani
    Kenny Wayne Shepherd
    Rachmaninoff and Chopin

Works for me (we may have to pull some teeth over the vocals issue, but

I totally understand that fact. That's why I think it shouldn't
have been in that higher register when he sang it, since you can't
understand what the hell he's singing about. You can rewrite what
notes will be sung, or maybe even rewrite words so that certain
words that are difficult to enunciate aren't used.

    > personally, i LOVED the fact that James sang that part flawlessly, VERY
    > impressive

He may have sung it flawlessly compared to the album version, but
since the album version has the same enunciation problem, then
            what's the point.

Now, mind you, this isn't a flame, but more of a pet peeve of
mine. I love his voice, and I think he does an excellent job
most of the time. The "Caught in the Web" studio thing - his
voice kicks my ass when I hear that - is an example. But when
you are going to sing words, sing "words". Otherwise, you might
as well make the words into "whoa-oaaaa-oaaaa" or something
            similar.......

                                            -Al

Well, *finally* got my OIAL in the mail today (I ordered from CDNOW about a
week before it came out). Listening to it right now, and what can I say?
It rocks, just like everyone has been saying. I'm glad someone finally got
the right idea and turned up the keyboards in the mix.

Two problems. First, I too got a promo copy. WTF is up with that? And
secondly, I got this nice big fucking Revenue Canada customs import form
stuck on the package. So I get charged GST and a $5 handling fee on it.
WTF is that? I've ordered stuff (including larger orders) from CDNOW
before and NEVER had this happen before. Do any other Canadians here know
    how this stuff works?

So... Revenue Canada: fuck you, greedy bastards! The joke's on you. Let's
see you try and steal 7 bucks from me 5 years from now when I'm living in
    the US! Ha!

Holy fuck, Voices just started... I'm outta here.

not real sure about goth industrial, but synth pop is ok, and
astrophysics is no problem, as long as you don't constantly relate

Wrong. The Kiss song "Jungle" is definitely in the running for Song of the
Decade, as far as I'm concerned. It's got a REALLY catchy melodic guitar
theme (like Collective Soul or Creed), and a fair amount of "balls and
chunk." He even SINGS well! I heard it on the radio once and was hooked.

This happens to be the only Kiss song I know (other than "Rock and Roll All
Day"), and therefore the only one I like. But I *really* like this song.

Pat -- are their other albums/songs anything like this? Maybe I'm a bigger
Kiss fan than I realize <g>.

without ever meeting in person then went to meet her and they started
planning some shit and then DC cooper acting as the voice of the
government sez "So there you are, you've crossed the line, you pathetic
little man" in the most awesome guest vocal i've ever heard, awesome
awesome sneer in that man's voice and the protagonist of the story gets
the message and just friggin RUNS AWAY and the end is that he's hoping
to be able to find his girl again, the one he apparently abandoned to
the good graces of the CIA or FBI or some other such organization.......

and the production is better than CiS too, and somehow, this time
around, I can overlook the cheesy poof vocals and arrangements.....

so tyranny is cool by me

    partha

by the way, you all MUST get Vanden Plas "The God Thing"
