It's the guy from Napalm Death. If it is. . . you may describe the "voice" as
a disgusting deep gutteral grunting with hopes of forming words. >>lol<<
If you have caught the video, I'd have to say this is a highlight. THE MUSIC
ROCKS !!!!
But when JP looks at Mike when this guy starts grunting cracked me up. There
was a little bubble over his head that said: "What the fuck is this?"
Okay, no bubble. But that interpretation has to be close.

Metropolis and Learning to Live a cover of something, or just an idea they
have?

No no no no.....some people JUST DON'T GET IT!!!!! Listen to Romeo's solo
and just ask yourself a few questions: Would he be shredding on this song if
Lifeson didn't tear it up originally? Who is he trying to impress? His
metronome? Why didn't he just play some MORE 256th notes instead of actually
trying to phrase a solo musically? It's really is all in the ear of the
listener- ya can't beat personal preference, but some things are just

Ok for the more knowledgeable napalm death fans ive got a question, does barney
uses Fx for his vocals? I mean, im used to growling ( I love My dying bride ( old
stuff and new ) Tiamat ( old stuff and new ) Opeth, Cynic... but Barney's vocals
sound much more mechanic or "fake" than any of those other singers... any
insight?

Frankly, I was very annoyed by that. I wanted to hear the hard 'n heavy
songs acoustic! But no...they played what, two songs acoustic? (I've only
watched it once at 12 at night, so my memory isn't too great.) I really
wanted to hear some serious acoustic shredding from good ol John P. As for
the rest of the video, good stuff. But major disappointment in the lack of
acousticness from the acoustic show.

The production is the main fault, otherwise it's fine. It has some of their best songwriting (especially lyricism), even though the performances aren't quite up to standard. If some people would actually listen to the songs and get over the fact that the band evolved somewhat, they might actually find that it's as much a Queensryche album as any other.

Contrary to popular belief, there are some instances of Kiss venturing beyond the confines of "Rock and Roll All Night" and "Detroit Rock City" (which has some inventive riffing and harmonizing, by the way). Kiss even did a concept album (gasp, shock, horror, spew) called _(Music from) The Elder_. It was their first album with Eric Carr, who was an exceptional drummer with impressive double-bass skills. I realize I wasn't asked (not that I ever am), but I can go into more detail in private e-mail. Also, if one thinks that Paul Stanley sings well in "Jungle" . . . one certainly hasn't heard a whole lot of him.

What?!? Opeth and Cynic in the same sentence? Carlos, what a good taste, man... :-)
> "fake" than any of those other singers... any insight?
Ok, kidding aside, I don't think he uses any effects in his vocals. If you have the "Uncovered" bootleg, pay attention when James says something like "They'll play the fun songs: Metallica". Then, Barney says a really low "Noise!", testing his microphone. I believe that that's his voice, since I can perfectly understand all the syllables.
BTW, if you want to listen to a cool death metal "singer", check out Deicide's last studio album, "Serpents of the Light". Glenn Benton's vocals are incredible and the speed with which these guys play is UNBELIEVABLE. I still don't know if those drums are real, but the production of the album (if you can stand it) is excellent.
BTW#2, could someone please let me know if their other releases are also this fast? And what about the production? Is it this crystal clear? I think that I must check their other stuff, because there's so much adrenaline going on...

I've tried to get into this CD, as more than one person has said that I'm being "unprogressive" for not liking it, but I just cannot do it. Yeah, I don't want to hear Operation:Mindcrime parts 2-1000 from the band, but this CD just feels to me (much like Marillion's "Holidays In Eden") as a band changing their sound too much for a bit of popular acceptance. Perhaps the band felt they had to conform to the whole "Seattle Sound" thing. Maybe it was a new local ordinance or something. Anyway, there are a couple of good songs, but as a whole HITNF just doesn't work for me. But as I said when it was released, Queensryche put out four brilliant albums in a row, so they were due for a letdown. I'm curious to see what they do next.
