    Hey All,
Does anyone have a transcript of last week's SonicChat with Mike Portnoy? If
    so where?
I am not sure, but that jam at the end of Metropolis on OiaLT sounds a lot
like an Extreme song off of Extreme III. I forget the name. Has anyone else
    noticed this similarity?
Why would Queensryche try to copy the Seattle sound in 97, when supposedly
grunge died several years before that? If Queensryche sold out and tried to
keep up with the times, they were a little late. HitNF is a mixed bag. In
fact I would have to say that I enjoy 7 songs out of the 14. I wouldn't call
    it grunge though.
Lastly, "Mama Said", Metallica's country song is one of the few good songs,
perhaps the best, on Load and ReLoad.
    Later,
    Mark

OK. I was in the same boat you're in, I think. I had heard about how
damn great SB was, but was very skeptical, because I'd heard about how
they're "soft", and "happy". Well let me tell you: Spock's Beard is
undeniably awesome! It's fantastic stuff! Check out a few MP3's, and
give it a chance. There's some available at their website, I think. Or
I can always hook you up if you'd like. Go ahead and e-mail me.

now that i've made an impact ont he mfp lists, i feel this need to stay up there.....

of course, if the desire were taking over every pore of my body (in the same way lusting after Leann Tweeden sometimes does), this would be a separate post unto itself......

    anyway

    1) got a OiaL promo, AFTER having bought it myself last week assuming that i won't be clumsy enough to break anything in the set i bought, and have already opened, i have given away the promo.....in my position, do you do the same thing? especially considering that you are not the kind of person who allows these types of disc to be lent out to ANYBODY? the only item that i have multiple discs of is APSOG and lunar crush, and the second is because the guy sent me two as a way, i guess, of making up for the delay in sending out the first......

    anyway2

how come you fucknuts never mentioned that Different Stages was premiering last night???? (or maybe you did, and that wonderful ytse-computer that can't count straight garbled the jam order and i din't see it in time?)

anyway, i'm in the library studying, and have to move my car, cuz the structure closes at midnight

i walk out, and get in car and turn radio on, and test for echo is on, and it's 'different', like live 'different' and i'm like, holy snotrags, batman, i though TSOR was the single they released early

and then analog kid comes on, and i'm about to turn into the parking lot where i'm gonna put said vehicle, and i squeal away

is this a preview, i ask myself? and then a third song comes on, so i'm thinking that i must drive around a little longer, so I go to white castle, always a thirty minute guarantee.....meaning, at this particular store, if you go into the drive thru anytime before 3 am, you're gonna be stuck in line for at least a half hour (i mean, shit, i could drive out to the suburbs and get White castle and drive back in the time it takes to get thru this store)

but in that half hour, i get to listen to more rush, live! and then there were those funny looks i'm getting from black folks in the parking lot when Tom Sawyer comes on, and I'm turning up the bass, and the volume is already going at levels these speakers were not meant to handle.......

and when i finally get back to the library, i figure the preview is done, and i'm about to get out, when Jo Robinson says they are about to play all of 2112

tell me, does the fact that i got out of the car and went inside, ostensibly to study (which hasn't happened in the three hours i've been here) without listening to 2112, live, on the radio, in its freakin' entirety, qualify me for the title of "fucking idiot"?

It's not lightly i make a claim to Bafu's throne......

i guess there was something about wanting to hear that song thru my own speakers, home style, which are better than the car ones (i think)

    then again, it was 2112.......

did i mention that when i left the library, i left my stuff in care of some guy i'd never seen before? this in detroit.....i made myself a new friend tonight.......

I'll amen all the comments on finding a mate who appreciates good music. (and to echo Amanda, one that has a mind as well) I've just about given up. My solution: get thyself into a band, and hope to meet people at concerts of yours. There's a certain chance that they'll like your music if they like your band. :) We'll see how this works out once we get enough material down to do a show. (Did I mention that we actually found a bass player finally? It's been a while since I posted, I know)

Best of luck to my fellow ytse-lonesome-freaks. My anguished cries of frustration are with yours.

Hey, does anybody know of a website that contains a soundclip of the song "See You in Hell" by Grim Reaper? Some friends of mine and I were recalling a certain episode of Beavis and Butthead where they had that song on. Anyway, I did a number of web searches, and came up with nothing. Sorry for the non DT content, but at least it's short and to the point.

    Thanks, Rob

I bought that album too. Unlike you, till now I've only been impressed by Terry Bozzio's performance, some Trent Gardner's trombone parts and Michael Bemesderfer's flute solos. Oh yeah, some melodies are pretty catchy as well, but overall, "Age Of Impact" just hasn't started working for me. I hope it hasn't begun to work for me YET, because I'd be really disappointed if the money I spent will prove to be squandered in vain in the long run.

I hope my initial impression will tumble down, as I'm planning to visit an audiophile acquaintance of mine so as to get a good and focused listen and hear every subtlety (and viciousness) that's going on, so don't flame me as of yet. :-)

So, in short, King Crimson's "Larks' Tongues In Aspic" rules majorly and I'd take Bozzio Levin Stevens over Liquid Tension Experiment any day a week. :-)

Hi everybody. Can any of thos jammers, who have a band and have recorded an album or Cd, tell me how much did it cost them. With the word cost I mean everythiung, from recording, mixing, production, etc. If you would be so kind. And now some DTC: just watched a videc called 7th Heaven from Ibanez. It's a promotional video that cames with a 7-string guitars. A friend of mine bought himself a RG7-620 and all I can say is that this guitar kicks some serious butt. There's also John Petrucci on this video and explains some nice stuff, although it's a little to short(his apperance). Take care and thanks for reply.

    That would have been beautiful.

You know, I basically voted for him just because the other two were a socialist and a political whore, but the more I think about, the more I think this was something really special. I'm sorry that I missed his rally last night...held at a former horse track, no less, and complete with a mosh pit *instigated by the security force*.

    Now THAT is politics!!

You can bet your ass I'll be front and center for his inaguaration, even though it'll be forty degrees below zero outside.
