Yeah he did... But Simon is the kinda guy that knows who he's playing
with... Not that others don't.... Simon knows that when he plays wiyh Joe,
he has to pace himself, rather than show all of his stuff.... He has plenty
of other jobs where he can (you gotta check out Steve Lukather's
"Candyman"...). Guys like for instance Mike Mangini HAVE to show off...
That's just who they are.... Can you imagine Mangini playing in Toto???
>Also, I don't think many people regard

No they aren't, they just have to keep time and know where their space is...
They just sound better than a drum machine... (BTW I have a special
Zildjian instruction video from Manu Katche... A "not for sale" kinda
tape... Just for playback in stores... It rules.)
Don't get me wrong, I'm a drummer myself... It's just that Joe plays the
kinda music that doesn't fit show-off drumming.... Steve Vai's music does
tho... Mangini is great on "Fire Garden"..

Could someone please tell me the URL of a webshop that has the 5YiaL PAL version?
Are there any yet?
I won (!!!!!) an autographed version of 5YiaL (and OiaL) through the contest on www.onceinalivetime.com, BUT as I live in Norway I can't play this video on my videoplayer!!!
I can't just have the video on the shelf whitout having ever watched it!!!! So I need to get the PAL version....
Your help would be apreciated, AND maybe we could stop this "I can't get a hold of 5YiaL" nonesence?
CDnow has the NTSC version, Does anyone know if they'll be selling the PAL version soon (ever)?
One more thing. I think we should all Thank Mark Bredius (Itchy) for giving us a FABOULOUS Web page (www.dreamtheater.net)!!!!!! This is probably the best music related page on the entire web! Thanx!

Hello (and a special tip of the hat to everyone I met last spring at the Chicago show)-
I'm fixing to go to a drum clinic by Mr. Portnoy in a few weeks. I went to UACM to confirm the date and get the name of the store it was at, but UACM did not have the date I was looking for. Can anyone tell me if there is a clinic planned for Nov. 22 in Grand Rapids, Mi. (if I remeber correctly it was at RIT Drums). Thanks-

Way to go, maX! There's too little DTC nowadays. However, I'm no better, so... well, arh...
I know some of you have experiences of recording bootlegs (and I guess Mr. Bahr is the most experienced). I'm going to do a bootleg record of a local band's performance the 21 nov. They have no contract, and they're cool with it, so I guess it's fully legal. How should I do to record it, to get the best sound consuming the least possible amount of ca$h?
Thanx

Hey fuckers,
(and please keep in mind that *you* ARE fuckers, whereas *I* am not !) (see my nickname)
I said I wouldn't post again, right ? Well, I changed my mind. Other jammers seem to do that quite frequently, so I have the same right.
First of all I want to thank those who wrote me back and prooved that I *do* have some friends on the jam. Not many though, which I think is wonderful. Who wants to be a member of this exclusive club of liars and backstabbers anyway ?
I'm not intending a flame war, by the way. Actually I'm not even subscribed to the jam anymore, so feel free to call me names behind my back. I heard you're pretty good at it anyway :P
Here are some comments I got after I had posted to this list:
------------------------------------------ "Dude, I am completely clueless what happened to you on the jam or otherwise... but I DO know that Skadz (SPAZ) is a jerk. He (and Lisa Marie (LaMe) have a way of turning people against each other. So I can understand you're being pissed off. I would be too." -Anonymous
I found this really interesting. Never heard of those new nicknames. Probably because I wasn't around for a while ? :P
-------------------------------------------------
"I had heard a little about this. Mark is shit, don't worry: What goes around comes around, he WILL get his! He offers nothing of any intrinsic value as a man. He's such a fucking loser, the only way he can raise himself up is to slap others down. Think about it. He parades his so-called love for her like a prize, in front of everyone in the channel. He's never even met her, yet he proclaims he's the 'one' for her? Give me a fucking break. He's dirty, man. Love isn't about strutting in an IRC channel. He SAYS and IS all the bad things he claims is wrong with everyone else, yet somehow he feels he's absolved from being called 'slime'. Gotta love the logic there, right? He's got it all figured out.....or so he thinks." -Anonymous
Whew... not even *I* would talk about Mark like that. LOL All I can say is... people turn insane when they can't have sex... believe me, I am an expert. ROFL
------------------------------------------------
To Lisa: I am sorry. I will leave you alone, since you seem to hate me anyway.
To Mark: Good luck, you will need it.
To all the others: please forgive me, but I really need to do some work now. If you like the show, I will try to come up with a new episode next week. Maybe even with music ! STAY TUNED.
Yours buttkissingly, LoneWolf (who is dead) :P
P.S.: I just finished a demo tape. My brother and I have enough material now for about 3 CDs. If we can find a cheap studio, and a contract (maybe at Magna Carta) we'll provide you with some prog stuph. (Except if Itch and Skadz treat me really badly :P) And no, it won't be called "Sarcasm Deluxe".

Okay, maybe I missed it somewhere in the 'Jam, so please don't flame me for this.
I was listening to a bootleg MP3 of the "Raise the Knife" demo, and I noticed that there are a couple riffs (if you can call them riffs) from one of the Chroma Key songs about four minutes into the song. Then I noticed that about nine minutes into the song, Petrucci starts playing a riff (there's that word again) from "Peruvian Skies." Anyone care to comment?

Just because a couple of "genetic experiments gone awry" like to go down those roads doesn't mean it reflects the general level of tolerance :) There seem to be certain topics (and why those centering around one particular band seems to draw out more emotion than any other is beyond me) which will never resolve, but people will continue the attempt.
Think of it as nothing more than entertainment. If you start to take what someone else considers 'the way it is' too seriously, then you begin to go down another road that leads to nowhere. "Find yer game" :)
When you stop to consider how many people subscribe to the jam, your perspective might change to "It's amazing how much tolerance there is on the jam sometimes" :)

I'm not sure if I should swear, but my heart cries for a post after reading all the satch posts. Facts: The German title for the video was 'The Satch Tapes'(Juli, hpoe that helps) If somebody likes Satch Boogie w/Bissonnette, I hope you're referring to a live version on TM(although I don't have the booklet and can conferm that), because there was no drummer on Surfing w/ an alien. As you can hear on the video they(Satch and Cuniberti) wanted to create an album focused on guitar(I believe that worked). I like the Satch Boogie version they played during the Guitar Legends fesival at Expo 1992, although I don't know the drummers name. Actually I believe it was Mover/Wimbish(sp?) that got pissed off at Satch, mainly because he flushed 200.000$ work down the drain in the pre-Extremist time: he started with them, but changed from them to Bissonnette's and from Cuniberti to Andy John(producer). I hope I do not offend anybody in writing this and if there should be a mistake, correct me.
Another thing. Video format. PAL is the European format and NTSC the American, I think.
Finally I seem to be the only one who hasn't got chroma key, yet. Where can I order it from? I was kind of sure that cdnow has everything a rock/prog/whatever fan likes...
Enough for now. I wanna see Satch in the city, anybody else??

Now these guys are incredible musicians and have been hired by some of the biggest names in music. So heres little Satch boy telling his producer that the drums are out of time. I guess if it's not 4/4 Satch can't comprehend. Anyway he wouldn't let these guys off of the leash to play. It's sad really, he had the opportunity to hire top quality musicians and wouldn't let them make a decent song great. In the end he got somebody else to play a dirt simple drum line. He should stick to the drum machine at least he'll save money.>

Well, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree. However, I did pick up the new Marillion (which definitely wasn't what I was expecting, having never heard them before - I still think it's a great disc though), which has TWO extra US-ONLY bonus tracks. I guess that still screws the Europeans among us, because they have to pay bigass shipping charges from here, too. Sorry, guys - my sympathy!
