    >< Hello (and a special tip of the hat to everyone I met last spring at the
    Chicago show)-

I'm fixing to go to a drum clinic by Mr. Portnoy in a few weeks. I went to
UACM to confirm the date and get the name of the store it was at, but UACM did
not have the date I was looking for. Can anyone tell me if there is a clinic
planned for Nov. 22 in Grand Rapids, Mi. (if I remeber correctly it was at RIT
    Drums). Thanks-

Na hahahahahahaha na really hahahahaha ;-)

I was referring to the dumped jammer's girlfriend, wasn't she the one who was
    jerking off to DT originally?

The 'finger somewhere else comment' was about that. As was the comment
'perhaps she wanted someone else to do it for her instead of having to do it
herself' meaning perhaps that was WHY she dumped him in the first place.

Looks like my jokes go way over your heads guys

I'm starting to doubt in this guy considering Satch music! :) And I
don't know him from other place.

    > but he's usually just way too restrained for Satch's music.

Maybe Satch tells them: "Guys, I know you're all great musicians, but I
AM THE STAR HERE, so you better calm down and lemme show the world how
good I am on this geetar!" ;)

    > Crystal Planet would be a great album, but the

That's exactly what I hate in CP. Too anoing rhtyhm section. While Satch
might do an awesome guitar job, after 3 minutes you can't stand that
    bum-bap, bum-bap drum anymore! It doesn't even goes bum-bap,
    bum-bum-bap! :)

It's so simple that it almost looks like they want it to sound that
    simlpe! Which I found weird.

    > I'm used to MP

Not necesarilly MP kinda drumming but anymore, "more feel" as someone
    said.

Does Mangini plays also on the studio Fire Garden album? I'm lazy to go
    get the CD myself! ;)
I know Greg plays on Cryin' Machine!
But I don'rt think he plays on other Vai albums.

    Hello,

I would like to invite you to join the vivid mailing list.

The description of this mailing list is:

The official discussion mailing list about the Swedish hard rock / heavy metal
band Vivid. Vivid is inspired by ‘70’s hard rock band such as Black Sabbath,
Uriah Heep, Kiss, and 80’s heavy metal bands such as Helloween, Iron Maiden,
Judas Priest and Scorpions. Vivid existed between 1982 and 1989, and is now
planning a reunion in the summer of 1999, ten years after the split up. They’ve
also got plans about doing a CD, a sort of Best of, containing the best songs
    from their career.

You can join this list by going to the following web page:

This is the kind of post that is all too rare and ever so much appreciated.
Humility is a trait I wish I could develop. Oh, I guess I should say I'm
sorry for misquoting from Korg. Due credit goes to the God of all that is
bovine. Like he ever had an original thought... :P
            Form the Stickmaster:
    >Guys like for instance Mike Mangini HAVE to show off...

I have to take issue with this. Mangini is a terrific drummer, but he has
shown excellent restraint on some work, namely the three songs he did on
    Extreme's Punchline disc.

    >It's just that Joe plays the kinda music that doesn't fit
    >show-off drumming....

I'll agree that Joe's studio work does require a more restrained drummer in
most situations (there are exceptions like War, Slow Down Blues, and Mighty
Turtle Head). But anyone who has seen Joe live with Jonathon Mover (or
Gregg Bissonette, for that matter), or even heard it, knows that there is
plenty of room to go off in a live environment if Joe's at the helm. Take a
good listen to Memories on the Dreaming #11 disc...

    >Mangini is great on "Fire Garden"..

No question, you're dead on here.

    >I believe it was Mover/Wimbish(sp?) that got pissed off at
    >Satch, mainly because he flushed 200.000$ work down the drain in the
    >pre-Extremist time:

For the last time: Simon Phillips and Doug Wimbish recorded material with
Joe for the Extremist album (along with Phil Ashley). Joe decided that he
wanted to audition a new rhythm section and did so, selecting the
Bissonette brothers, with whom he completed recording for the Extremist
album. Joe did not flush ANY work down the drain: songs finished with
Wimbish and Phillips ARE ON THE EXTREMIST. Other material was composed, but
all became the remaining tracks on the album (except the tracks that ended
up on Time Machine). I will not claim to be omniscient, but when it comes
to Satch trivia, I am the keymaster. (Yeah, so I didn't know Dweller on a
    Threshold, so sue me...)

Yeah, Magna Carta has a sampler CD (Their first) with
    tracks from;
    Black Light Syndrome
    LTE
    Attention Deficit
    Shadow Gallery
    Magellan
    Royal Hunt
    Cairo "Angels+Rage"-Japanese radio edit
    EXPLORER'S CLUB "IMPACT 3"
They're calling that last one a "radio hack mix"

This CD also contains previews of new Tempest, Dali's
    Dilemma, and Ice Age.

I wasn't sure if anyone had heard about this, so I wanted
    to spread the word.

I e-mailed them asking about it, and they sent me all the
    info.

    Take care,

Getting OiaL in the mail today just made what would have ordinarily have been a suck ass week from hell. If anyone ever has any doubts as to why rockers get massive amounts of
women, all that person needs to do is listen to this album. I was in pure ecstast listening to the first CD, which is as far as Ive gotten so far. I do have to say, however, that James was really reachng for some of the high notes, especially on Voices. Other than that, OiaL is truly orgasmic. =)

I'm listening to 99.3 out of Vancouver, Canada, and they are doing a show
called 'House of Hair'. Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister is the host. Does
anyone else get this show, as I think it is syndicated? I just love
hearing some of the metal and glam rock that otherwise shares a place
beside disco in the realm of music. After not hearing it for years, Bon
Jovi sounds pretty good! Not to mention Y&T, Cinderella, White Lion,

"Lady Jane" and "Sister Mary", and I'll pretend to be lesbian lovers,
and I'll talk really dirty to everyone until they get thrown off the
    list.

Sister Mary barks and whines like a dog in heat: "Voodoo penis, Jane's
    crotch!"

Or I'll just sub. as some moron who out of nowhere squeals like Lady
Jane her 4th time around: "I think God is a cat. What do you think?"

But maybe I'm being a jerk again. Maybe I should lighten up...

    NAH!!!

       Arbotics.com exploded in flatulous rage:

    >>.Okay, maybe I missed it somewhere in the 'Jam, so please don't flame
    me for this.

    Flame flame... me too.

Paul Weiss cried out in vain at the loss of his brother:

    >>>Juli praised the efforts of a Wisconsin area station
Damn you all! They never do anything like that on any radio station inmy
corner of the country. But I don't really want to move to the midwest.
    Hmmm, dilemma....<<<

At least they play Ramms+ein here...

    Actually I
believe most are all being a little sarcastic, but I'm sure there (not
they're, damn homonyms*) are some who have to belittle others in orderto
be happy with themselves. Ah, well, such is the world as we make it.P

But I do think Korg gets it right ;)

       Syrinx ejacul- uh, yelled?

    >>>I just wanted to let EVERYONE know that the horrors of trying to
    send
money over to England to get in the DTIFC is now over. Effective as of
today, here is the address for North America:

Um, is this true? Verifier! Mike Portnoy?... Mark Bredius?

Maybe I just don't know who Syrinx is...

Then some stupid moron pleads of the jam:

Hey guys, did you get my post on what I thought of Hear In The Now
Frontier? I CANNOT fing it in the jam (but my others made it), and I got
a response to it. But I looked again, and it isn't there. Hmmm...

Oh well, maX shuts up for a few hours...
